7Application of Parzen Window estimation for incipient fault diagnosis in power transformers显示文摘Accurate faults diagnosis in power transformers is important for utilities to schedule maintenance and minimises the operation cost.Dissolved gas analysis(DGA)is one of the proven and widely accepted tools for incipient fault diagnosis in power transformers.To improve the accuracy and solve the cases that cannot be classified using Rogers’Ratios,IEC ratios and Duval triangles methods,a novel DGA technique based on Parzen window estimation have been presented in this study.The model uses the concentrations of five combustible hydrocarbon gases:methane,ethane,ethylene,acetylene and hydrogen to compute the probability of transformers fault categories.Performance of the proposed method has been evaluated against different conventional techniques and artificial intelligence-based approaches such as support vector machines,artificial neural networks,rough sets analysis and extreme learning machines for the same set of transformers.A comparison with other soft computing approaches shows that the proposed method is reliable and effective for incipient fault diagnosis in power transformers.Md Mominul Islam Gareth Lee Sujeewa Nilendra Hettiwatte 2018High Voltage2018,3,4:1

10Allelopathic Potential of Three Oil Enriched Plants against Seedling Growth of Common Field Crops显示文摘Current study aims to investigate the allelopathic potential of the differentparts (leaf, bark, stem, twig and root) of three oil-enrich plant species ofBangladesh viz., Jatropha curcus, Ricinus communis and Aphanamixispolystachya. The aqueous extract of those plant parts were diluted intofour different concentrations viz., 1:5, 1:10, 1:15, 1:20 (w/v) and testedagainst the seedling growth of jute, rice, wheat, radish, tomato, mungbeanand mustard under control laboratory condition. A control (distilled waterwithout extract) was also maintained in every cases and the bioassayexperiment was replicated thrice. The results of this research showed thatthe shoot and root growth inhibition of rice, wheat, jute, tomato, radish,mungbean and mustard by leaf, bark, stem, twig and root extracts of J.curcus, R. communis and A. polystachya varied significantly. Compareto the shoot growth, the root growth of the test species inhibited moreexcept J. curcus. The leaf and root have higher allelopathic potential thanany other parts of the studied plants. Finally, it can be concluded here thatJ. curcus plant extracts has higher allelopathic potential than other twoplants R. communis and A. polystachya. 11First record of Common Tailorbird(Orthotomus sutorius)parasitism by Plaintive Cuckoo(Cacomantis merulinus)in Bangladesh显示文摘The Plaintive Cuckoo(Cacomantis merulinus) is a widespread brood parasite in Asia, but no data on host species utilization in Bangladesh exist. By searching for nests of all possible host species of the Plaintive Cuckoo at Jahangirnagar university campus, north of Dhaka, we were able to determine which hosts were used in this area. We found that the Common Tailorbird(Orthotomus sutorius) was the only potential host used by Plaintive Cuckoos, and parasitism rate was rather high(31.3 %, n = 16). However, both host and cuckoo breeding success was poor(0 %, n = 16) due to frequent nest predation. Details on host and cuckoo egg appearance are provided.
