1Energy optimization in the wake of China Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC)显示文摘The energy crisis has become a significant bottleneck in the country’s economic progress.But to end this age old problem,we have to capitalize on the chance,China Pakistan Economic Corridor(CPEC)investment provides,to its full potential.This study aims to help Pakistani government in selecting the best set of CPEC energy priority projects to be completed in the first wave of development.The second part of the research guides the small/medium scale industry and business owners to select the best available alternative for tackling the energy shortfall while CPEC projects are in the process of materialization.Forecasting electricity shortfall decrease and its impact on various economic/industrial sectors(like services,industrial,textile and agriculture)is also performed to gauge the effect of CPEC on the economy using linear regression.For decision analysis,the MCDM techniques employed are(AHP)along with(TOPSIS).This research generated a new list of recommended CPEC energy priority projects which are more evenly distributed across the country,catering more,to interest of the country as a whole.We also concluded solar panels to be the best alternative for small scale businesses,as short term solution while CPEC projects are under construction.Yousaf Ali Zaeem Rasheed Noor Muhammad Salman Yousaf 2018Journal of Control and Decision2018,5,2:5
2Scenario of dengue infection & its control in Pakistan: An up-date and way forward显示文摘Dengue fever is one of the major health problems in tropical and subtropical areas throughout the world. The causative agent of dengue fever is the dengue virus which is an enveloped single stranded RNA virus belongs to the family Flaviviridae and has five distinct serotypes(DENV-1,DENV-2, DENV-3, DENV-4 and DENV-5). Dengue virus is transmitted to human via bite of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. The clinical symptoms of dengue fever ranging from mild to severe form as dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome. Pakistan is dengue endemic since 1994 but from 2006, Pakistan faced the worst condition regarding dengue in which thousands of people affected by the disease and hundreds of people lost their lives. DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-1 are the prevalent serotypes in Pakistan. Common diagnostic techniques are being used in Pakistan such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,polymerase chain reaction and rapid diagnostic tests, while differential diagnosis, limitations of diagnostic methods and poor health care system are the real challenges in dengue diagnosis.Favorable climatic conditions, unplanned urbanization, travelling etc., are major factors responsible for dengue epidemics in Pakistan. 3Selection of suitable site in Pakistan for wind power plant installation using analytic hierarchy process(AHP)显示文摘Rise in environmental pollution is a critical problem faced by mankind today.Many interventions have been made to reduce the carbon emissions and other greenhouse gases.Interventions,such as the introduction of electric cars,and innovative techniques to harness energy from renewable sources have been implemented.Pakistan is also very focused on exploiting its renewable energy sources and many sources have been identified.Wind energy is considered to have a promising potential and numerous sites have been identified for installation of wind farms.In this paper,we have collected data for the sites with the capacity factor(key determinant of value of power plant)of 25%or above for 600 kW wind turbine and applied Multi-Criteria Decision Method to find the most suitable to least suitable site for the installation of wind farm with respect to different factors/criteria.Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to evaluate four potential sites based on the criteria of wind speed(m/s),wind power density(W/m^(2)),distance from grid station(km),capacity factor,transport cost and population density.Results show that the preference of site largely depends on the average annual wind speed and wind power density.Our study is helpful for government as they verify the findings of Pakistan Meteorological Department but with different approach.Yousaf Ali Masab Butt Muhammad sabir Ubaidullah Mumtaz Aneel Salman 2018Journal of Control and Decision2018,5,2:1

9Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor associated spontaneous herniation of liver mimicking a pleural mass:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Spontaneous diaphragmatic herniation of the liver is a rare entity.It may mimic pulmonary mass especially in the absence of trauma.Cough is a common side effect of angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)inhibitors that may cause diaphragmatic rupture due to a sudden increase in trans-diaphragmatic pressure.We present a case of ACE-inhibitor associated spontaneous herniation of the liver mimicking pleural mass.CASE SUMMARY An 80-year-old woman presented with dry cough for 1 mo and sudden onset of cramping abdominal pain for 1 d.She denied history of trauma,prior surgeries,smoking,alcohol or illicit drug use.She has a history of diabetes and was started on an ACE inhibitor 6 mo ago for the management of hypertension.Examination was remarkable for right upper quadrant tenderness.Lab work-up was unremarkable.Chest X-ray showed a right lower lung opacity suspecting right pleural mass.Chest computed tomography scan ruled out pleural mass,however,revealed herniated right lobe of the liver(3.9 cm×3.6 cm×3.4 cm)into the thoracic cavity through the posterolateral diaphragmatic defect.Laparoscopic repair of the diaphragmatic defect was performed and the ACE inhibitor was stopped.Patients’symptoms had completely resolved on follow-up.CONCLUSION ACE inhibitor-associated cough may cause diaphragmatic liver herniation mimicking pleural mass.Early diagnosis,surgical repair and addressing the triggering factors improve patients’outcomes.Sameer Saleem Tebha Zain Ali Zaidi Sehrish Sethar Muhammad Asif Abbas Virk Muhammad Nadeem Yousaf 2022World Journal of Hepatology2022,14,4:0
10Impact of frailty on endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography outcomes in nonagenarians:A United States national experience显示文摘BACKGROUND Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)is an essential therapeutic tool for biliary and pancreatic diseases.Frail and elderly patients,especially those aged≥90 years are generally considered a higher-risk population for ERCP-related complications.AIM To investigate outcomes of ERCP in the Non-agenarian population(≥90 years)concerning Frailty.METHODS This is a cohort study using the 2018-2020 National Readmission Database.Patients aged≥90 were identified who underwent ERCP,using the international classification of diseases-10 code with clinical modification.Johns Hopkins’s adjusted clinical groups frailty indicator was used to classify patients as frail and non-frail.The primary outcome was mortality,and the secondary outcomes were morbidity and the 30 d readmission rate related to ERCP.We used univariate and multivariate regression models for analysis.RESULTS A total of 9448 patients were admitted for any indications of ERCP.Frail and non-frail patients were 3445(36.46%)and 6003(63.53%)respectively.Indications for ERCP were Choledocholithiasis(74.84%),Biliary pancreatitis(9.19%),Pancreatico-biliary cancer(7.6%),Biliary stricture(4.84%),and Cholangitis(1.51%).Mortality rates were higher in frail group[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)=1.68,P=0.02].The Intra-procedural complications were insigni-ficant between the two groups which included bleeding(aOR=0.72,P=0.67),accidental punctures/lacerations(aOR=0.77,P=0.5),and mechanical ventilation rates(aOR=1.19,P=0.6).Post-ERCP complication rate was similar for bleeding(aOR=0.72,P=0.41)and post-ERCP pancreatitis(aOR=1.4,P=0.44).Frail patients had a longer length of stay(6.7 d vs 5.5 d)and higher mean total charges of hospitalization($78807 vs$71392)compared to controls(P<0.001).The 30 d all-cause readmission rates between frail and non-frail patients were similar(P=0.96).CONCLUSION There was a significantly higher mortality risk and healthcare burden amongst nonagenarian frail patients undergoing ERCP compared to non-frail.Larger studies are warranted to investigate and mitigate modifiable risk factors.Sanket Dhirubhai Basida Dushyant Singh Dahiya Muhammad Nadeem Yousaf Brinda Basida Bhanu Siva Mohan Pinnam Manesh Kumar Gangwani Hassam Ali Sahib Singh Yash R Shah Daksh Ahluwalia Mihir Prakash Shah Saurabh Chandan Neil R Sharma Shyam Thakkar 2024World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2024,16,3:0
11Chemiluminescence Determination of Cefixime Trihydrate Based on Acidic Diperiodatoargentate(Ⅲ)-Rhodamine 6-G System显示文摘A novel chemiluminescence(CL) method is proposed for cefixime trihydrate(CFX) determination based on its eiiliancement effect on diperiodatoargentate(III)(DPA)-rhodamine 6-G(Rh6-G) reaction in conjunction with flow injection analysis(FIA). A linear calibration curve was achieved over the range from 0.01 mg/L to 2.5 mg/L CFX(R^2=0.999,n=8) with relative standard deviation(RSD) of 1.4%-3.8%(n=4)), limit of detection(LOD) of 3.0×10^-3 mg/L(S/N=3),injection tliroughput of 180/h and regression equation of y=1113.2x-14.596[y=CL intensity (mV) and x=concentration of CFX(mg/L)]. The method was successfully applied to CFX determination in pharmaceutical formulations and the recoveries(%) for proposed FI-CL and a reported spectrophotometric method by applying the Student t-test [calculated t-test value: t=1.079215, and tabulated t-distributed(95%)=2.200985] were not significantly diflerent. The CFX was efficiently extracted and no significant effect of commonly found excipients in the pharmaceutical formulations was observed. 13Deep Learning-Based Robust DC Fault Protection Scheme for Meshed HVDC Grids显示文摘Fast and reliable detection of faults is a significant technical challenge in transient-based protection for a modular multi-level converter(MMC)based high voltage direct current(HVDC)system.This is because existing protection schemes rely heavily upon setting a complicated protective threshold,the failure of which causes high DC-fault currents in HVDC grids,and MMC is prone to such strong transient currents.In this context,this paper proposes a DC-line fault diagnosis technique based on a tuned long-short-term memory(LSTM)algorithm to improve the response and accuracy of transient-based protection.The discrete wavelet transform(DWT)extracts the transient features of DC-line voltages in the frequency-time domain.Many healthy and faulty samples are incorporated during training even by considering the noise influence.After training,numerous test samples are run to evaluate the proposed algorithm’s robustness under various fault conditions.Test results show the proposed algorithm can detect DC faults and has a high recognition accuracy of 98.6%.Compared to contemporary techniques,it can perform well to identify DC-line faults because of the efficient training of characteristic features.Muhammad Zain Yousaf Hui Liu Ali Raza Ali Mustafa 2023CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2023,9,6:0
14Structural Decomposition Analysis to Investigate the Changes in Energy Consumption in Pakistan显示文摘The world energy demand is increasing due to rapid growth in the global economy,industrialization,and urbanization.Pakistan is also confronted with increasing energy demand on one hand and is confronted with the challenge of energy demand-supply gap on the other hand.Since energy is the major driver for growth,it becomes important to investigate the trends of energy consumption in a country and the factors that are most affecting the changes in the use of energy.This particular study aims to investigate the use of energy by all the economic sectors of Pakistan during 2000–2012.The major contribution is the first time application of structural decomposition analysi for energy usage along with using Input-Output data for the period of 2002–2012.The results show the fluctuation of the energy intensity of the sectors throughout the study period.Also,the overall effect of energy intensity is negative on energy consumption and it shows a negative contribution value of-80.90%for the study period.Furthermore,the focus on more energy-intensive products like cement,automobiles,iron,steel products and the increasing final demand of the economy contributes to the growth of energy consumption in Pakistan during 2000–2012.ALI Yousaf SALEEM Sania Binte SABIR Muhammad 2020Journal of Systems Science & Complexity2020,33,5:0
