2GIS-based risk analysis of debris flow:an application in Sichuan,southwest China显示文摘Debris flow is a serious geologic hazard in China.It is estimated that nationally debris flows cause up to 2 billion RMB(250 million US$) in damages and 300-600 deaths and injuries annually.To mitigate debris flow hazards,it is necessary to map,model,and identify zones of debris flow hazards and vulnerability as to inform the local people about the potential risk with a geographic information system.This research presents a regional scale case study modeling debris flow risk(hazard and vulnerability) in Sichuan Province,Southwestern China.In this area,3,290 debris flows have been identified and the spatial-temporal distribution and activity characteristics of them have been documented.Based on the available meteorological data,a Digital Elevation Model with the rate of 1:250,000 and a regional geological map,the 24-hr rainfall threshold(y) for debris flow occurrence is closely related(significant at 99% confidence level) to the index(x) defined using a geology factor(rock hardness:a) and a topographical factor(channel gradient:d) where y = 21 + 10200 / x,in which x = 2.7 × ea + 1000 × d.The discipline is constructive in developing the rainfall threshold for debris flow activity in remote mountainous areas that lack data.For a given watershed,a four-level debris flow hazard map is developed by comparing the rainfall threshold to the design rainfall intensities with 50-,20-,and 5-year average recurrence intervals,respectively.The degree of debris flow vulnerability is determined by the watershed socio-economic conditions.A four-class debris flow risk map,at the final phase of the research,is generated by combining debris flow hazards and vulnerability.With the debris flow risk assessment,the Sichuan Province is classified into the slight,moderate,severe and very severe regions,which accounts for 36%,19%,20% and 25% of total area respectively.B. 3Profiling the ionome of rice and its use in discriminating geographical origins at the regional scale, China显示文摘Element profile was investigated for their use to trace the geographical origin of rice (Oryza sativa L.) samples. The concentrations of 13 elements (calcium (Ca), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P), boron (B), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), arsenic (As), selenium (Se), molybdenum (Mo), and cadmium (Cd)) were determined in the rice samples by inductively coupled plasma optical emission and mass spectrometry. Most of the essential elements for human health in rice were within normal ranges except for Mo and Se. Mo concentrations were twice as high as those in rice from Vietnam and Spain. Meanwhile, Se concentrations were three times lower in the whole province compared to the Chinese average level of 0.088 mg/kg. About 12% of the rice samples failed the Chinese national food safety standard of 0.2 mg/kg for Cd. Combined with the multi-elemental profile in rice, the principal component analysis (PCA), discriminant function analysis (DFA) and Fibonacci index analysis (FIA) were applied to discriminate geographical origins of the samples. Results indicated that the FIA method could achieve a more effective geographical origin classification compared with PCA and DFA, due to its efficiency in making the grouping even when the elemental variability was so high that PCA and DFA showed little discriminatory power. Furthermore, some elements were identified as the most powerful indicators of geographical origin: Ca, Ni, Fe and Cd. This suggests that the newly established methodology of FIA based on the ionome profile can be applied to determine the geographical origin of rice.Gang Li Luis Nunes Yijie Wang Paul N. 7OPTIMIZATION OF AUTOBODY PANEL STAMPING PROCESS BASED ON DYNAMIC EXPLICIT FINITE ELEMENT METHOD显示文摘Taking CPU time cost and analysis accuracy into account, dynamic explicit finite ele- ment method is adopted to optimize the forming process of autobody panels that often have large sizes and complex geometry. In this paper, for the sake of illustrating in detail how dynamic explicit finite element method is applied to the numerical simulation of the autobody panel forming process,an example of optimization of stamping process pain meters of an inner door panel is presented. Using dynamic explicit finite element code Ls-DYNA3D, the inner door panel has been optimized by adapting pa- rameters such as the initial blank geometry and position, blank-holder forces and the location of drawbeads, and satisfied results are obtained.X. 8A Feasibility Study of FES Restoration of Elbow Movementsfor C5/C6 Quadriplegic Patients显示文摘This paper presents a feasibility study of restoration of elbow movements in C5/C6quadriplegic patientS by functional electrical stimulation (FES). A biomechanical model of thebiceps and triceps muscles and elbow joint is developed for computer simulation. A feedbackcontrol method is evaluated in the study for the static and dynamic responses. Results indicate thatit is possible to achieve extension control at the elbow joint with electrical stimulation of extensormuscle. 10EFFECT OF Si ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE Al-4.5%Cu ALLOYS显示文摘The effect of Si on the microstructure and mechanical properties of binary Al-4.5%Cu alloy has been investigated. The results show that the addition of Si does not have any effect on alloy strength; however, it decreases the ductility of the as-cast Al-4.5%Cu alloy. It is obvious that after T4 heat treatment, the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-4.5%Cu-Si alloys are improved, especially for the alloy with an Si addition of 2%.N. Han, X.F. 13Effects of seed mixture sowing with transgenic Bt rice and its parental line on the population dynamics of target stemborers and leafrollers, and non-target planthoppers显示文摘The widespread planting of insect-resistant crops has caused a dramatic shift in agricultural landscapes, thus raising concerns about the potential impacts on both target and non-target pests. In this study, we examined the potential effects of intra-specific seed mixture sowing with transgenic Bt rice (Bt) and its parental non-transgenic line (Nt)(100% Bt rice [Bt100], 5% Nt+95% Bt [Nt05Bt95], 10% Nt+90% Bt [Nt|0Bt90], 20% Nt+80% Bt [Nt2oBtso], 40% Nt+60% Bt [Nt4oBt6O] and 100% Nt rice [Ntjoo]) on target and non-target pests in a 2-year field trial in southern China. The occurrence of target pests, Sesamia inf evens. Chilo suppressalis and Cnaphalocrocis medinalis, decreased with the increased ratio of Bt rice, and the mixture ratios with more than 90% Bt rice (Btjoo and Nt()5Bt95) significantly increased the pest suppression efficiency, with the lowest occurrences of non-target planthoppers, Nilaparvata lugens and Sogatella jurcijera in Ntioo and NtosBtgs. Furthermore, there were no significant differences in 1000?grain dry weight and grain dry weight per 100 plants between Btjoo and NtosBtgs,Seed mixture sowing of Bt rice with <10%(especially 5%) of its parent line was sufficient to overcome potential compliance issues that exist with the use of block or structured refuge to provide most effective control of both target and non-target pests without compromising the grain yield. 14IMPROVEMENT OF MATERIALS WELDABILITY BY SHOCK WAVES显示文摘The weldability is an important property to metal materials. Materials weldability becomes worse with the yield strength increasing. The experimental results indicate that the specific shock waves treatment could improve the weldability of steels such as 16MnR, SM 58Q, e.g. increase the notch toughness of coarse grains zone in HAZ and decrease cold cracking sensibility. The work would explore initially the mechanisms of improvement of weldability by shock waves.
