1Soil Microbiological Activity and Carbon Dynamics in the Current Climate Change Scenarios:A Review显示文摘Microbial activities are affected by a myriad of factors with end points involved in nutrient cycling and carbon sequestration issues.Because of their prominent role in the global carbon balance and their possible role in carbon sequestration, soil microbes are very important organisms in relation to global climate changes. This review focuses mainly on the responses of soil microbes to climate changes and subsequent effects on soil carbon dynamics. An overview table regarding extracellular enzyme activities(EAA) with all relevant literature data summarizes the effects of different ecosystems under various experimental treatments on EAA. Increasing temperature, altered soil moisture regimes, and elevated carbon dioxide significantly affect directly or indirectly soil microbial activities.High temperature regimes can increase the microbial activities which can provide positive feedback to climate change, whereas lower moisture condition in pedosystem can negate the increase, although the interactive effects still remain unanswered. Shifts in soil microbial community in response to climate change have been determined by gene probing, phospholipid fatty acid analysis(PLFA),terminal restriction length polymorphism(TRFLP), and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE), but in a recent investigations,omic technological interventions have enabled determination of the shift in soil microbe community at a taxa level, which can provide very important inputs for modeling C sequestration process. 3Interventions to improve sarcopenia in cirrhosis: A systematic review显示文摘BACKGROUND Sarcopenia, i.e., muscle loss is now a well-recognized complication of cirrhosis and in cases of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease can contribute to accelerate liver fibrosis leading to cirrhosis. Hence, it is imperative to study interventions which targets to improve sarcopenia in cirrhosis.AIM To examine the relationship between interventions such nutritional supplementation, exercise, combined life style intervention, testosterone replacement and trans jugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS) to improve muscle mass in cirrhosis.METHODS We search PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane between June-August 2018, without a limiting period and the types of articles(RCTs, clinical trial, comparative study)in adult patients with sarcopenia and cirrhosis. The primary outcome of interest was improvement in muscle mass, strength and physical function interventions mentioned above. In the screening process, 154 full text articles were included in the review and 129 studies were excluded.RESULTS We identified 24 studies that met review inclusion criteria. The studies were diverse in terms of the design, setting, interventions, and outcome measurements.We performed only qualitative synthesis of evidence due to heterogeneity amongst studies. Risk of bias was medium in most of the included studies and low quality of evidence showed improvement in the muscle mass, strength and physical function following aerobic exercise. 60% of the included studies on the nutritional intervention, 100% of the studies on testosterone replacement in hypogonadal men and trans-jugular portosystemic shunt were proved to be effective in improving sarcopenia in cirrhosis.CONCLUSION Although the quality of evidence is low, the findings of our systematic review suggest improvement in the sarcopenia in cirrhosis with exercise, nutritional interventions, hormonal and TIPS interventions. 4A fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling and its applications显示文摘We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2%. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. 5优化作物根系构型,发展生态农业——2017年作物根系与根际互作国际研讨会综述显示文摘2017年10月在西北农林科技大学举行了'作物根系与根际互作国际研讨会',会议主要讨论了作物根系与根际互作研究的理论、方法与应用。本文系统地总结了此次会议6个专题的研究进展:(1)作物根系对逆境胁迫的响应;(2)作物根系构型与功能;(3)根系营养元素的吸收与利用;(4)根际互作及其分子机制;(5)根际微生物;(6)根系研究方法及模型。会议涉及的主要成果有:改良的根系构型(小根系)是提高干旱地区作物产量的重要因素;旱地作物进化(人工选育)原则;提出作物根系可以利用根、土壤和微生物之间的相互作用提高营养物质利用效率;为盆栽植物根系研究开发了半水培表型系统(Semi-Hydroponic Phenotyping System);在作物抗逆胁迫的分子机制方面取得了进展,找到了一些调节根系构型、耐旱和抗洪性的关键基因,如GmPT家族基因可以调控根系构型和根瘤数目;探索有关研究作物根系构型的方法,改进了三维数字化方法并利用数据建立模型进行作物根系的三维可视化建模,进而监测作物营养条件。目前对作物根系和根际互作的研究主要侧重于优化根系构型,获得高产、高效和可持续的生态农业发展,其中应用型和多学科交叉研究比重较高,未来作物根系研究将朝着'多学科交叉的应用型研究'方向发展。段海霞 罗崇亮 Minha Naseer 熊友才 2019干旱地区农业研究2019,37,2:6
6Endoscopic advances in the management of non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding:A review显示文摘Upper gastrointestinal bleeding is defined as the bleeding originating from the esophagus to the ligament of Treitz and further classified into variceal and nonvariceal gastrointestinal bleeding.Non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding remains a common clinical problem globally.It is associated with high mortality,morbidity,and cost of the health care system.Despite the continuous improvement of therapeutic endoscopy,the 30-d readmission rate secondary to rebleeding and associated mortality is an ongoing issue.Available Food and Drug Administration approved traditional or conventional therapeutic endoscopic modalities includes epinephrine injection,argon plasma coagulation,heater probe,and placement of through the scope clip,which can be used alone or in combination to decrease the risk of rebleeding.Recently,more attention has been paid to the novel advanced endoscopic devices for primary treatment of the bleeding lesion and as a secondary measure when conventional therapies fail to achieve hemostasis.This review highlights emerging endoscopic modalities used in the management of non-variceal upper gastrointestinal related bleeding such as over-the-scope clip,Coagrasper,hemostatic sprays,radiofrequency ablation,cryotherapy,endoscopic suturing devices,and endoscopic ultrasound-guided angiotherapy.In this review article,we will also discuss the technical aspects of the common procedures,outcomes in terms of safety and efficacy,and their advantages and limitations in the setting of non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding.Maliha Naseer Karissa Lambert Ahmed Hamed Eslam Ali 2020World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2020,12,1:6
7Epidemiology,determinants,and management of AIDS cholangiopathy:A review显示文摘Diseases of the liver and biliary tree have been described with significant frequency among patients with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV), and its advanced state, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS). Through a variety of mechanisms, HIV/AIDS has been shown to affect the hepatic parenchyma and biliary tree, leading to liver inflammation and biliary strictures. One of the potential hepatobiliary complications of this viral infection is AIDS cholangiopathy, a syndrome of biliary obstruction and liver damage due to infection-related strictures of the biliary tract. AIDS cholangiopathy is highly associated with opportunistic infections and advanced immunosuppression in AIDS patients, and due to the increased availability of highly active antiretroviral therapy, is now primarily seen in instances of poor access to antiretroviral therapy and medication non-compliance. While current published literature describes well the clinical, biochemical, and endoscopic management of AIDS-related cholangiopathy, information on its epidemiology, natural history, and pathology are not as well defined. 8Temperature dependent conductivity of Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) ceramics induced by Sr dopants显示文摘Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) is an important lead-free ferroelectric material.Doping modification of Bi_4Ti_3O_(12)has attracted great attention to improving its performances.In this work,the effect of Sr dopants on the microstructure,dielectric,and conductivity of Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) ceramic was investigated by XRD,SEM,and AC impedance spectroscopy.Substitution of 1 at%Sr for Bi decreased the grain size,suppressed the dielectric dispersion of Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) ceramic at room temperature,and resulted in different effects on the conductivity of grains and grain boundaries.The conductivity of grains in Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) ceramic was increased by the small amount of Sr dopants in the whole experimental temperature range.While the grain boundaries of 1 at%Sr-doped Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) exhibited lower conductivity than pure Bi_4Ti_3O_(12) below~380℃and higher conductivity above~380℃.The experimental phenomena were interpreted in term of compensating defects for Sr dopants.Lin WANG Mengqi GUI Hai-Bo JIN Xinyuan HU Yongjie ZHAO Naseer Muhammad ADNAN Jing-Bo LI 2018Journal of Advanced Ceramics2018,7,3:3

10Effect of seed mass on emergence and seedling development in Pterocarpus marsupium Roxb.显示文摘We investigated the effect of seed mass on emergence, seedling survival and growth of Pterocarpus marsupium Roxb., a medium to large, commercially valuable and deciduous tree species. Among the three size classes viz. small(10-12 mm), medium(13-15 mm) and large(16-17 mm), the maximum proportion of seed by number(54.12%) and dry weight(51.87%) was recorded in the medium size seed class. Seed length and seed width were greatest in the large seed class(16.50 mm, 7.33 mm) followed by medium(13.50 mm, 5.60 mm) and small(11.37 mm, 3.66 mm). Similarly, hundred seed weight(100 sw) varied from a maximum of 12.92 g in the large seed class to intermediate 10.95 g in the medium seed class and minimum of 7.02 g in the small seed class. The large seed size showed maximum emergence and shoot length over the medium and small seed class. After six months of growth, significant variations due to seed size were also observed for the growth and dry weight of P. marsupium seedlings. Seedling vigour, expressed in terms of height, collar diameter, number of leaves and dry biomass, was significantly affected by seed class. 11Maize production under risk:The simultaneous adoption of off-farm income diversification and agricultural credit to manage risk显示文摘Farmers in Pakistan continue to produce maize under various types of risks and adopt several strategies to manage those risks. This study is the first attempt to investigate the factors affecting the concurrent adoption of off-farm income diversification and agricultural credit which the farmers use to manage the risk to maize production. We apply bivariate and multinomial probit approaches to the primary data collected from four districts of Punjab Province in Pakistan. The results show that strong correlations exist between the off-farm diversification and agricultural credit which indicates that the use of one risk management strategy leads to another. The findings demonstrate that education, livestock number, maize farming experience, perceptions of biological risks and risk-averse nature of the growers significantly encourage the adoption of diversification as a risk management tool while farm size inversely affects the adoption of diversification. Similarly, in the adoption equation of credit, maize farming experience, farm size, perceptions of price and biological risks and risk attitude of farmers significantly enhance the chances of adopting agricultural credit to manage farm risks.
