| 2 | An Inception Module CNN Classifiers Fusion Method on Pulmonary Nodule Diagnosis by Signs显示文摘A 'sign' on a lung CT image refers to a radiologic finding that suggests a pathological progression of some specific disease. Analysis of CT signs is helpful to understand the pathological origin of the lesion. In-depth study of lung nodules classification with different CT signs will help to distinguish benign and malignant nodules more clearly and accurately. To this end, we propose an Inception module-based ensemble classification method for pulmonary nodule diagnosis with different nodule signs. We first construct a Convolutional Neural Network(CNN) classifier adopting Inception modules and pre-train it on ImageNet. We then fine-tune this pre-trained classifier on 10 different lung nodule sign sample sets, and fuse these 10 classifiers with an artificial immune ensemble algorithm. The overall sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of our proposed Artificial Immune Algorithm-based Inception Networks Fusion(AIA-INF) algorithm are 82.22%, 93.17%, and 88.67%, respectively, which are significantly higher than those of the alternative Bagging and Boosting methods. | 4 | Investigation on the process parameters of TIG-welded aluminum alloy through mechanical and microstructural characterization显示文摘Multi-pass TIG welding was conducted on plates(15×300×180 mm^(3))of aluminum alloy Al-5083 that usually serves as the component material in structural applications such as cryogenics and chemical processing industries.Porosity formation and solidification cracking are the most common defects when TIG welding Al-5083 alloy,which is sensitive to the welding heat input.In the experiment,the heat input was varied from 0.89 kJ/mm to 5 kJ/mm designed by the combination of welding torch travel speed and welding current.Tensile,micro-Vicker hardness and Charpy impact tests were executed to witness the impetus response of heat input on the mechanical properties of the joints.Radiographic inspection was performed to assess the joint’s quality and welding defects.The results show that all the specimens displayed inferior mechanical properties as compared to the base alloy.It was established that porosity was progressively abridged by the increase of heat input.The results also clinched that the use of medium heat input(1-2 kJ/mm)offered the best mechanical properties by eradicating welding defects,in which only about 18.26% of strength was lost.The yield strength of all the welded specimens remained unaffected indica ted no influence of heat input.Partially melted zone(PMZ)width also affected by heat input,which became widened with the increase of heat input.The grain size of PMZ was found to be coarser than the respective grain size in the fusion zone.Charpy impact testing revealed that the absorbed energy by low heat input specimen(welded at high speed)was greater than that of high heat input(welded at low speed)because of low porosity and the formation of equiaxed grains which induce better impact toughness.Cryogenic(-196℃)impact testing was also performed and the results corroborate that impact properties under the cryogenic environment revealed no appreciable change after welding at designated heat input.Finally,Macro and micro fractured surfaces of tensile and impact specimens were analyzed using Stereo and Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM),which have supported the experimental findings. | Muhammad Samiuddin Jing-long Li Muhammad Taimoor Mohammad Nouman Siddiqui Sumair Uddin Siddiqui Jiang-tao Xiong | 2021 | Defence Technology(防务技术)2021,17,4: | 5 |

| 6 | Experimental study on repeatedly loaded foundation soil strengthened by wraparound geosynthetic reinforcement technique显示文摘In the recent past,the potential benefits of wraparound geosynthetic reinforcement technique for constructing the reinforced soil foundations have been reported.This paper presents the experimental study on the behaviour of model strip footing resting on sandy soil bed reinforced with geosynthetic in wraparound and planar forms under monotonic and repeated loadings.The geosynthetic layers were laid according to the reinforcement ratio to minimise the scale effect.It is found that for the same amount of reinforcement material,the wraparound reinforced model resulted in less settlement in comparison to planar reinforced models.The efficiency of wraparound reinforced model increased with the increase in load amplitude and the rate of total cumulative settlement substantially decreased with the increase in number of load cycles.The wraparound reinforced model has shown about 45% lower average total settlement in comparison to unreinforced model,while the double-layer reinforced model has about 41% lower average total settlement at the cost of approximately twice the material and 1.5 times the occupied land width ratio.Moreover,wraparound models have shown much greater stability in comparison to their counterpart models when subjected to incremental repeated loading. | Muhammad Nouman Amjad Raja Sanjay Kumar Shukla | 2021 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,4: | 2 |

| 9 | Observed failure modes of unreinforced masonry buildings during the 2015 Hindu Kush earthquake显示文摘On 26 th October 2015, an Mw 7.5 earthquake struck northern Pakistan, with its epicenter located 45 km southwest of Jarm in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The earthquake resulted from reverse faulting at a depth of 210 km, resulting in 280 fatalities and substantial damage to some 109,123 buildings. Regional seismicity, characteristics of recorded strong motions, damage statistics, and building performance observations are presented. Earthquake damage was mostly constrained to seismic-deficient unreinforced masonry(URM) buildings. Typical failure modes included toppled minarets, partial or complete out of plane collapse of URM walls, diagonal shear cracking in piers, flexural cracking in spandrels, corner damage, pounding damage, and damage due to ground settlement. The majority of human loss resulted due to failure of URM walls and subsequent roof collapse.
