1Small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)in the correction of myopic astigmatism:outcomes and limitations-an update显示文摘Small Incision Lenticule Extraction(SMILE)is a flap-free intrastromal technique for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism.To date,this technique lacks automated centration and cyclotorsion control,so several concerns have been raised regarding its capability to correct moderate or high levels of astigmatism.The objective of this paper is to review the reported SMILE outcomes for the correction of myopic astigmatism associated with a cylinder over 0.75 D,and its comparison with the outcomes reported with the excimer laser-based corneal refractive surgery techniques.A total of five studies clearly reporting SMILE astigmatic outcomes were identified.SMILE shows acceptable outcomes for the correction of myopic astigmatism,although a general agreement exists about the superiority of the excimer laser-based techniques for low to moderate levels of astigmatism.Manual correction of the static cyclotorsion should be adopted for any SMILE astigmatic correction over 0.75 D.Jorge L.Aliódel Barrio Verónica Vargas Olena Al-Shymali Jorge L.Alió 2017Eye and Vision2017,4,1:8

3Role of colonoscopy in the diagnostic work-up of bowel endometriosis显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the accuracy of colonoscopy for the prediction of intestinal involvement in deep pelvic endometriosis.METHODS:This prospective observational study was performed between September 2011 and July 2014.Only women with both a clinical and imaging diagnosis of deep pelvic endometriosis were included.The study was approved by the local ethics committee and written informed consent was obtained in all cases.Both colonoscopy and laparoscopy were performed by expert surgeons with a high level of expertise with these techniques.Laparoscopy was performed within4 wk of colonoscopic examination.All hypothetical colonoscopy findings(eccentric wall thickening with or without surface nodularities and polypoid lesions with or without surface nodularities of endometriosis)were compared with laparoscopic and histological findings.We calculated the sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive value and negative predictive value for the presence of colonoscopic findings of intestinal endometriosis.RESULTS:A total of 174 consecutive women aged between 21-42 years with a diagnosis of deep pelvic endometriosis who underwent colonoscopy andsurgical intervention were included in our analysis.In 76 of the women(43.6%),intestinal endometrial implants were found at surgery and histopathological examination.Specifically,38 of the 76 lesions(50%)were characterized by the presence of serosal bowel nodules;28 of the 76 lesions(36.8%)reached the muscularis layer;8 of the 76 lesions(10.5%)reached the submucosa;and 2 of the 76 lesions(2.6%)reached the mucosa.Colonoscopic findings suggestive of intestinal endometriosis were detected in 7 of the174(4%)examinations.Colonoscopy failed to diagnose intestinal endometriosis in 70 of the 76 women(92.1%).A colonoscopic diagnosis of endometriosis was obtained in all cases of mucosal involvement,in 3of 8 cases(37.5%)of submucosal involvement,in no cases of muscularis layer involvement and in 1 of 38cases(2.6%)of serosa involvement.The sensitivity,specificity,positive predictive and negative predictive values of colonoscopy for the diagnosis of intestinal endometriosis were 7%,98%,85%and 58%,respectively.CONCLUSION:Being an invasive procedure,colonoscopy should not be routinely performed in the diagnostic work-up of bowel endometriosis.Marco Milone Antonio Mollo Mario Musella Paola Maietta Loredana Maria Sosa Fernandez Olena Shatalova Alessandro Conforti Gianni Barone Giuseppe De Placido Francesco Milone 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,16:5
4Enhanced data and methods for improving open and free global population grids:putting‘leaving noonebehind’into practice显示文摘Data on global population distribution are a strategic resource currently in high demand in an age of new Development Agendas that call for universal inclusiveness of people.However,quality,detail,and age of census data varies significantly by country and suffers from shortcomings that propagate to derived population grids and their applications.In this work,the improved capabilities of recent remote sensing-derived global settlement data to detect and mitigate major discrepancies with census data is explored.Open layers mapping builtup presence were used to revise census units deemed as‘unpopulated’and to harmonize population distribution along coastlines.Automated procedures to detect and mitigate these anomalies,while minimizing changes to census geometry,preserving the regional distribution of population,and the overall counts were developed,tested,and applied.The two procedures employed for the detection of deficiencies in global census data obtained high rates of true positives,after verification and validation.Results also show that the targeted anomalies were significantly mitigated and are encouraging for further uses of free and open geospatial data derived from remote sensing in complementing and improving conventional sources of fundamental population statistics.Sergio Freire Marcello Schiavina Aneta J.Florczyk Kytt MacManus Martino Pesaresi Christina Corbane Olena Borkovska Jane Mills Linda Pistolesi John Squires Richard Sliuzas 2020International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,1:3
5Frequency-multiplexed entanglement for continuous-variable quantum key distribution显示文摘Quantum key distribution with continuous variables already uses advantageous high-speed single-mode homodyne detection with low electronic noise at room temperature.Together with continuous-variable information encoding to nonclassical states,the distance for secure key transmission through lossy channels can approach 300 km in current optical fibers.Such protocols tolerate higher channel noise and also limited data processing efficiency compared to coherent-state protocols.The secret key rate can be further increased by increasing the system clock rates,and,further,by a suitable frequency-mode-multiplexing of optical transmission channels.However,the multiplexed modes couple together in the source or any other part of the protocol.Therefore,multiplexed communication will experience cross talk and the gain can be minuscule.Advantageously,homodyne detectors allow solving this cross-talk problem by proper data processing.It is a potential advantage over protocols with single-photon detectors,which do not enable similar data processing techniques.We demonstrate the positive outcome of this methodology on the experimentally characterized frequency-multiplexed entangled source of femtosecond optical pulses with natural cross talk between eight entangled pairs of modes.As the main result,we predict the almost 15-fold higher secret key rate.This experimental test and analysis of frequencymultiplexed entanglement source open the way for the field implementation of high-capacity quantum key distribution with continuous variables.OLENA KOVALENKO YOUNG-SIK RA YIN CAI VLADYSLAV C.USENKO CLAUDE FABRE NICOLAS TREPS RADIM FILIP 2021Photonics Research2021,9,12:3
6A workflow for Sustainable Development Goals indicators assessment based on high-resolution satellite data显示文摘For evaluating the progresses towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs),a global indicator framework was developed by the UN Inter-Agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goals Indicators.In this paper,we propose an improved methodology and a set of workflows for calculating SDGs indicators.The main improvements consist of using moderate and high spatial resolution satellite data and state-of-the-art deep learning methodology for land cover classification and for assessing land productivity.Within the European Network for Observing our Changing Planet(ERA-PLANET),three SDGs indicators are calculated.In this research,harmonized Landsat and Sentinel-2 data are analyzed and used for land productivity analysis and yield assessment,as well as Landsat 8,Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-1 time series are utilized for crop mapping.We calculate for the whole territory of Ukraine SDG indicators:15.1.1–‘Forest area as proportion of total land area’;15.3.1–‘Proportion of land that is degraded over total land area’;and 2.4.1–‘Proportion of agricultural area under productive and sustainable agriculture’.Workflows for calculating these indicators were implemented in a Virtual Laboratory Platform.We conclude that newly available high-resolution remote sensing products can significantly improve our capacity to assess several SDGs indicators through dedicated workflows.Nataliia Kussul Mykola Lavreniuk Andrii Kolotii Sergii Skakun Olena Rakoid Leonid Shumilo 2020International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,2:3
7Fuzzy Tuned PID Controller for Envisioned Agricultural Manipulator显示文摘The implementation of image-based phenotyping systems has become an important aspect of crop and plant science research which has shown tremendous growth over the years. Accurate determination of features using images requires stable imaging and very precise processing. By installing a camera on a mechanical arm driven by motor, the maintenance of accuracy and stability becomes non-trivial. As per the state-of-the-art, the issue of external camera shake incurred due to vibration is a great concern in capturing accurate images, which may be induced by the driving motor of the manipulator. So, there is a requirement for a stable active controller for sufficient vibration attenuation of the manipulator. However, there are very few reports in agricultural practices which use control algorithms. Although, many control strategies have been utilized to control the vibration in manipulators associated to various applications, no control strategy with validated stability has been provided to control the vibration in such envisioned agricultural manipulator with simple low-cost hardware devices with the compensation of non-linearities. So, in this work, the combination of proportional-integral-differential(PID) control with type-2 fuzzy logic(T2-F-PID) is implemented for vibration control. The validation of the controller stability using Lyapunov analysis is established. A torsional actuator(TA) is applied for mitigating torsional vibration, which is a new contribution in the area of agricultural manipulators. 8Modulation of protein tyrosine phosphorylation in gastric mucosa during re-epithelization processes显示文摘AIM:To investigate the role of protein tyrosine phosphorylation in gastric wound formation and repair following ulceration. METHODS:Gastric lesions were induced in rats using restraint cold stress.To investigate the effect of oxidative and nitrosative cell stress on tyrosine phosphorylation during wound repair,total activity of protein tyrosine kinase(PTK),protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP),antioxidant enzymes,nitric oxide synthase (NOS), 2',5'-oligoadenylate synthetase,hydroxyl radical and zinc levels were assayed in parallel. RESULTS:Ulcer provocation induced an immediate decrease in tyrosine kinase(40% in plasma membranes and 56% in cytosol,(P<0.05) and phosphatase activity (threefold in plasma membranes and 3.3-fold in cytosol),followed by 2.3-2.4-fold decrease (P<0.05) in protein phosphotyrosine content in the gastric mucosa. Ulceration induced no immediate change in superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity,30% increase (P<0.05) in catalase activity,2.3-fold inhibition (P<0.05) of glutathione peroxidase,3.3-fold increase (P<0.05) in hydroxyl radical content,and 2.3-fold decrease (P<0.05) in zinc level in gastric mucosa.NOS activity was three times higher in gastric mucosa cells after cold stress. Following ulceration,PTK activity increased in plasma membranes and reached a maximum on day 4 after stress (twofold increase,P<0.05),but remained inhibited(1.6-3-fold decrease on days 3,4 and 5,P<0.05) in the cytosol.Tyrosine phosphatases remained inhibited both in membranes and cytosol(1.5-2.4-fold,P< 0.05).NOS activity remained increased on days 1,2 and 3(3.8-,2.6-,2.2-fold,respectively,P<0.05).Activity of SOD increased 1.6 times(P<0.05)days 4 and 5 after stress.Catalase activity normalized after day 2. Glutathione peroxidase activity and zinc level decreased (3.3-and 2-fold,respectively,P<0.05)on the last day. Activity of 2',5'-oligoadenylate synthethase increased 2.8-fold (P<0.05) at the beginning,and 1.6-2.3-fold (P<0.05) during ulcer recuperation,and normalized on day 5,consistent with slowing of inflammation processes. 11Evaluating the different boundary conditions to simulate airflow and heat transfer in Double-Skin Facade显示文摘The CFD simulation accuracy mostly depends on the appropriate setting of boundary conditions and numerical simulation parameters.This study shows the influence of two types of boundary condition settings on the CFD simulation results of Double-Skin Facade(DSF)for a specific problem.These two boundary settings are the constant temperature on the DSF surfaces called Boundary A,and Boundary B is defined via solar radiation using the Discrete Ordinate radiation Model(DOM).The paper verified both the numerical simulations using the experimental data.Comparing the numerical results of two types of boundaries with experimental data shows that both cases underestimated the values lower than 5.2 K and 0.1 m/s for the temperature and velocity respectively at the regarded measured points.Boundary A gives more accurate temperature prediction results,while Boundary B shows velocity magnitude closer to the measurements in the middle height of the cavity;the average temperature and velocity differences between the two boundary types are 0.6 K and 0.003 m/s respectively which are negligible.Finally,the selection of boundary conditions depends on study purposes,however,when the DSF is equipped with blinds and if there is not enough data in hand but the exact value of solar irradiation,using the Boundary B approach is suggested;it can provide reasonable results associated with multi-type of thermal boundary conditions at the same time.Furthermore,if the goal is to investigate the flow pattern in the DSF,Boundary B is argued to perform better than the constant temperature boundary condition.Javad Ahmadi Mohammadjavad Mahdavinejad Olena Kalyanova Larsen Chen Zhang Afsaneh Zarkesh Somayeh Asadi 2022Building Simulation2022,15,5:1
