| 1 | Growth and Distribution of Amphioctopus fangsiao(d'Orbigny, 1839–1841) in Haizhou Bay, Yellow Sea显示文摘Octopus fisheries have prospered in many areas of the world ocean over the last six decades. Despite degradation and overexploitation of Chinese coastal ecosystems, octopus has become a stable Chinese domestic fishery species. Among the octopus species in the Bohai and Yellow, East and South China Seas, Amphioctopus fangsiao(d'Orbigny [in Férussac & d'Orbigny], 1839–1841) plays an increasingly important role both economically and ecologically. However, no systematic research has been conducted on its biology and population dynamics in the China Seas. In this study, we characterized the growth and distribution of A. fangsiao in Haizhou Bay, Yellow Sea based on four years of trawl survey data. As the results, A. fangsiao is characterized by allometric growth and an overall sex ratio of 0.97 with a slight male bias. Small octopus can be observed through a whole year, suggesting that A. fangsiao may have an extended or continuous spawning season. A. fangsiao may migrate short distances along with seasonal changes and coastal currents, considering they overwinter in the offshore water and spawn in the inshore water. In addition to fishing pressure, annual variations in the population structure and biomass appeared to be influenced by ambient water temperature. | 2 | Degradation of metoprolol by UV/sulfite as an advanced oxidation or reduction process:The significant role of oxygen显示文摘The degradation of metoprolol(MTP)by the UV/sulfite with oxygen as an advanced reduction process(ARP)and that without oxygen as an advanced oxidation process(AOP)was comparatively studied herein.The degradation of MTP by both processes followed the first-order rate law with comparable reaction rate constants of 1.50×10^(-3)sec^(−1)and 1.20×10^(-3)sec^(−1),respectively.Scavenging experiments demonstrated that both e^(−)_(aq)and H·played a crucial role in MTP degradation by the UV/sulfite as an ARP,while SO_(4)^(·−)was the dominant oxidant in the UV/sulfite AOP.The degradation kinetics of MTP by the UV/sulfite as an ARP and AOP shared a similar pH dependence with a minimum rate obtained around pH 8.The results could be well explained by the pH impacts on the MTP speciation and sulfite species.Totally six transformation products(TPs)were identified from MTP degradation by the UV/sulfite ARP,and two additional ones were detected in the UV/sulfite AOP.The benzene ring and ether groups of MTP were proposed as the major reactive sites for both processes based on molecular orbital calculations by density functional theory(DFT).The similar degradation products of MTP by the UV/sulfite process as an ARP and AOP indicated that e^(−)_(aq)/H·and SO_(4)^(·−)might share similar reaction mechanisms,primarily including hydroxylation,dealkylation,and H abstraction.The toxicity of MTP solution treated by the UV/sulfite AOP was calculated to be higher than that in the ARP by the Ecological Struc-ture Activity Relationships(ECOSAR)software,due to the accumulation of TPs with higher toxicity. | Ying Cao Juan Li Yanxin Zhao Yumeng Zhao Wei Qiu Suyan Pang Jin Jiang | 2023 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,6: | 0 |
| 3 | A retrospective study of PD-L1 immunohistochemistry for hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Background:Programmed cell death ligand 1(PD-L1)expression plays an important role in selecting patients with hepatocellular carcinoma who will benefit from anti-programmed cell death 1(PD-1)/PD-L1 monotherapy and directing those with lower levels to alternative treatments.Methods:In total,156 hepatocellular carcinoma tumors were stained with three PD-L1 immunohistochemistry assays(SP142,28-8,and E1L3N).Two junior pathologists and one senior pathologist evaluated the pathological slides and recorded the percentages of tumor and immune cells stained at any intensity.Results:Analytical comparisons demonstrated that the anti-PD-L1 assay SP142 is a significantly stronger reagent that stains a higher percent of both tumor and immune cells,while 28-8 and E1L3N behave similarly to each other.The correlation coefficients of the three assays ranged from 0.77 to 0.92 for tumor cells and from 0.66 to 0.75 for immune cells.Next,1%and 5%tumor cell staining cutoffs were designated using various combinations of assays and cutoffs.Across all threereagents,14 samples showedconcordanceabove the5%threshold,eight showed concordancewithinthe range of 1%to 5%interval,and 93 showed concordance below the 1%threshold.The remaining 41 samples showed a combination of discordant results across all three reagents.High PD-L1 expression in tumor and immune cells tended to not be recurrent.Conclusions:The anti-PD-L1 assays 28-8 and E1L3N were closely aligned with regard to staining tumor and immune cells,whereas SP142 showed higher percentages of staining for both cell types.All three assays indicated greater variability in immune cell staining than in tumor cells. | Min Du Yumeng Cai Yanrui Pang Yuan Ji | 2022 | iLIVER2022,1,3: | 0 |
