| 1 | Comparing the removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in soil after different bioremediation approaches in relation to the extracellular enzyme activities显示文摘A 120-day experiment was conducted to compare the removal of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) from agricultural soil after natural attenuation(NA), phytoremediation(P), mycoremediation(M), and plant-assisted mycoremediation(PAM) approaches in relation to the extracellular enzyme activities in soil. The NA treatment removed the total soil PAH content negligibly. The P treatment using maize(Zea mays) enhanced only the removal of low and medium molecular PAHs. The Pleurotus ostreatus cultivated on 30–50 mm wood chip substrate used in M treatment was the most successful in the removal of majority PAHs. Therefore,significantly(p < 0.05) highest total PAH removal by 541.4 μg/kg dw(dry weight)(36%) from all tested M treatments was observed. When using the same fungal substrate together with maize in PAM treatment, the total PAH removal was not statistically different from the previous M treatment. However, the maize-assisted mycoremediation treatment significantly boosted fungal biomass, microbial and manganese peroxidase activity in soil which strongly correlated with the removal of total PAHs. The higher PAH removal in that PAM treatment could be reflected in the following post-harvest time. | 5 | Toll-like receptor 4 polymorphisms and bacterial infections in patients with cirrhosis and ascites显示文摘AIM To assess the relationship between the presence of toll-like receptor 4(TLR4) polymorphisms and bacterial infections in cirrhotic patients with ascites. METHODS We prospectively included consecutive patients with cirrhosis and ascites hospitalized during a 6-year period. Patients with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) infection or any other immunodeficiency, patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma(beyond Milan's criteria) or any other condition determining poor short-term prognosis, and patients with a permanent urinary catheter were excluded. The presence of D299 G and/or T399 I TLR4 polymorphisms was determined by sequencing and related to the incidence and probability of bacterial infections, other complications of cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, and mortality during follow-up. A multivariate analysis to identify predictive variables of mortality in the whole series was performed. RESULTS We included 258 patients: 28(10.8%) were carriers of D299G and/or T399I TLR4 polymorphisms(polymorphism group) and 230 patients were not(wildtype group). The probability of developing any bacterial infection at one-year follow-up was 78% in the polymorphism group and 69% in the wild-type group(P = 0.54). The one-year probability of presenting infections caused by gram-negative bacilli(51% vs 44%, P = 0.68), infections caused by gram-positive cocci(49% vs 40%, P = 0.53), and spontaneous bacterial peritonitis(29% vs 34%, respectively, P = 0.99) did not differ between the two groups. The oneyear probability of transplant-free survival was 55% in the polymorphism group and 66% in the wild-type group(P = 0.15). Multivariate analysis confirmed that age, Child-Pugh score, active alcohol intake, previous hepatic encephalopathy, hepatocellular carcinoma and serum creatinine were associated with a higher risk of death during follow-up. | 6 | Archery Algorithm:A Novel Stochastic Optimization Algorithm for Solving Optimization Problems显示文摘Finding a suitable solution to an optimization problem designed in science is a major challenge.Therefore,these must be addressed utilizing proper approaches.Based on a random search space,optimization algorithms can find acceptable solutions to problems.Archery Algorithm(AA)is a new stochastic approach for addressing optimization problems that is discussed in this study.The fundamental idea of developing the suggested AA is to imitate the archer’s shooting behavior toward the target panel.The proposed algorithm updates the location of each member of the population in each dimension of the search space by a member randomly marked by the archer.The AA is mathematically described,and its capacity to solve optimization problems is evaluated on twenty-three distinct types of objective functions.Furthermore,the proposed algorithm’s performance is compared vs.eight approaches,including teaching-learning based optimization,marine predators algorithm,genetic algorithm,grey wolf optimization,particle swarm optimization,whale optimization algorithm,gravitational search algorithm,and tunicate swarm algorithm.According to the simulation findings,the AA has a good capacity to tackle optimization issues in both unimodal and multimodal scenarios,and it can give adequate quasi-optimal solutions to these problems.The analysis and comparison of competing algorithms’performance with the proposed algorithm demonstrates the superiority and competitiveness of the AA. | Fatemeh Ahmadi Zeidabadi Mohammad Dehghani Pavel Trojovsky Štěpán Hubálovsky Victor Leiva Gaurav Dhiman | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,7: | 2 |
