| 1 | Integration of nanoscale light emitters:an efficient ultraviolet and blue random lasing from NaYF_4:Yb/Tm hexagonal nanocrystals显示文摘Near infrared light-controlled release of payloads from ultraviolet-sensitive(UV-sensitive) polymer hydrogels or nanocarriers is one of the most promising strategies for biotherapy. Here, we propose the concept of light activation of NaYF_4:20%Yb, 2%Tm nanocrystals(NCs). NaYF_4:20%Yb, 2%Tm NCs are synthesized by a solvothermal method. Effective upconversion luminescence from NaYF_4:20%Yb, 2%Tm NCs excited by a continuous wave(CW) 980 nm laser is obtained. The NaYF_4:20%Yb, 2%Tm NCs are then used as a laser gain medium and sandwiched between Al and quartz reflectors to form laser microcavities. UV and blue upconverted random lasing is obtained from the laser microcavities. Hence, we verify explicitly that the NaYF_4:Yb, Tm NCs support UV and blue upconversion random lasing via a 980 nm nanosecond laser excitation. | 2 | Model-scale tests to examine water pressures acting on potentially buoyant underground structures in clay strata显示文摘Throughout the service life, underground structures are subjected to transient and sustained hydrostatic pressures. The reservoir impoundment results in an increase in water level, as well as hydraulic gradient,which can endanger the uplift performance of infrastructure. In uplift design, a reduction factor is often suggested for buoyant force acting on underground structures in clays due to the time lag effect.However, the mechanism of pore pressure generation in clays is not fully understood. This investigation presents a novel U-shaped test chamber to assess the pore pressure generation with time in the horizontal branch subjected to an increase in reservoir level in the left vertical branch. A mathematical model is developed to explain the time lag effect of pore pressure generation. The test program also involves the evaluation of uplift pressure acting on foundation model in the right vertical branch due to adjacent reservoir impoundment. It is found that the time lag effect of pore pressure generation in clays can be observed irrespective of hydraulic gradient, but a higher hydraulic gradient can lead to a faster response in pore pressure sensors. | 3 | Coal-Biomass Preheating Combustion Characteristics in Cement Precalciner.Part 1:Preheating of Coal/Biomass显示文摘The co-combustion of biomass and coal can positively impact the environment and reduce the cost of power generation.However,biomass fuels have many limitations.Circulating fluidized bed(CFB)preheating combustion is suitable for co-combusting coal and biomass because of better fuel adaptability.In the cement industry,fuel combustion and raw meal decomposition in precalciners affect cement quality and cause pollutant emissions.The preheating combustion method used in precalciners can improve combustion performance and reduce NO_(x)emissions.This study investigated the preheating characteristics of a coal-biomass mixed fuel in a cement precalciner.The effects of load,biomass type,and biomass proportion on the preheated fuel and the conditions of the CFB were investigated.The results indicated that a lower load reduces the combustible components in gaseous and solid preheated fuels.However,due to the gas volume remains constant under different loads,a lower load also increases temperature and intensifies the reaction.The carbon chain and microscopic structural activities of preheated fuels are considerably enhanced,facilitating their combustion in precalciners and reducing nitrogen oxides in rotary kilns.Furthermore,adding biomass can improve the reactivity of a fuel subjected to preheating.Thus,biomass fuels(e.g.,rice husks)exhibit high combustion efficiency,and thus high energy utilization.The present study achieved better pore structure and molecular activity using preheated fuel from a CFB preheater.In addition,the improvement of pore structure and molecular activity increases with the proportion of the biomass. | LI Pengpeng REN Qiangqiang HAN Shaobo ZHANG Chi LYU Qinggang | 2023 | Journal of Thermal Science2023,32,5: | 0 |
| 4 | A strong physical unclonable function with machine learning immunity for Internet of Things application显示文摘The physical unclonable functions(PUFs) are novel cryptographic primitives in modern hardware security systems.Compared with traditional alternatives based on digital keys and non-volatile memory(NVM),the PUF system shows great unclonability,high efficiency,and physical attack resilience.However,the conventional PUF design suffers from weak machine learning immunity,high storage overhead,and unreliability,making it difficult to implement in the Internet of Things(Io T) and edge computing applications.This paper presents a new PUF design that could solve the proposed obstacles.By utilizing the emission probability of traps commonly found in nano-scaled transistors,a model-based PUF system with strong machine learning resistance could be achieved.This PUF design,called Prob-PUF,needs fewer challengeresponse pairs(CRPs) space and reveals superior resistance to modeling attacks due to the mixture of stable/random bits in its output response.Moreover,the Prob-PUF system could reach a high level of uniqueness and robustness,making it a potential candidate for future cryptographically secured protocols within the IoT. | Pengpeng REN Yongkang XUE Linglin JING Lining ZHANG Runsheng WANG Zhigang JI | 2024 | Science China(Information Sciences)2024,67,1: | 0 |
| 5 | Effects of Co-Firing Biomass and Pulverized Coal on NO Reduction in Cement Precalciner显示文摘With increased awareness of the large-scale CO_(2) emissions from the cement industry,there has been growing focus on greenhouse gas reduction strategies.Among all these strategies,fuel substitution using biomass fuel is extensively used to achieve CO_(2) zero-emission in cement production.Due to the avoidable high-temperature-generated thermal nitrogen oxides during cement production,research on the impact of biomass application on nitrogen oxide emissions shall be carried out.Three types of biomass fuel and bituminous coal were used to investigate the NO reduction characteristics under different O_(2) concentrations on experimental benches.It was found that the change in oxygen concentration from 9% to 1% increased the reaction time in the reactor from 555 s to 1425 s,which means the increase in oxygen concentration can lead to shorter reaction time,and correspondingly,the existing time of nitric oxide in the flue gas is also shortened,but the peak value of nitric oxide rises,during the process of O_(2) concentration changing from 1% to 9%,the peak NO concentration in the flue gas increased from 5.4×10^(-5) to 1.05×10^(-4).An increase in O_(2) concentration greatly reduces the total reduction of NO and the minimum change in NO concentration.The peak NO concentration during the combustion process of corn stalk is 4.56×10^(-4),which is approximately 7 times higher than that of coal,and it is caused by the high amount of N in corn stalk.The addition of raw meal has an inhibitory effect on the reduction of NO:after adding raw meal,the effective reduction time of NO by fuel decreased by about 20%,but adding raw meal raises CO_(2) concentration of fuel gas in the early stage of reaction. | LI Pengpeng REN Qiangqiang LYU Qinggang WANG Mingyue | 2024 | Journal of Thermal Science2024,33,2: | 0 |
| 6 | Correlation between serum fructosamine and hyperglycemia in patients with acute cerebrovascular disease显示文摘BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus is one of the risk factors in patients with acute cerebral disease, and always leads to stroke or get it worse. There is often a high level of blood glucose in those patients with diabetes mellitus and cerebral disease, but it is hard to distinguish from both kinds of hyperglycemia. Serum fructosamine is said to be correlated with blood glucose. OBJECTIVE: To explore the relationship between serum fructosamine and blood glucose in patients with acute cerebrovascular disease. DESIGN: A case-controlled study. SETTINGS: Department of Clinical Laboratory, Health Department for Cadres and Department of Neurology of Affiliated Hospital, Qingdao University Medical College. PARTICIPANTS: Forty-eight inpatients and outpatients with cerebrovascular diseases were selected from the Department of Neurology, Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College from December 2004 to April 2005. All the patients were confirmed with CT and MRI. There were 25 patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebrovascular diseases, who met the diagnostic standards of diabetes mellitus set by WHO, including 12 males and 13 females with an average of (60±8) years old, the course of diabetes mellitus ranged from 1 to 21 years.. The other 23 patients had no diabetes mellitus (without diabetes mellitus group), including 14 males and 9 females with an average of (62±6) years old. Meanwhile, another 50 healthy physical examinees in the hospital were selected as control group, including 26 males and 24 females with the average age of (62±5) years old. Informed content was obtained from all the participants. METHODS: Venous blood was drawn from all the participants, and content of blood glucose was assayed by means of glucose oxidase, and the concentration of serum fructosamine was determined by nitroblue tetrazolium colorimetric method. Comparison between groups was performed by the analysis of variance and q test, and the correlation was tested by linear regression analysis. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ① Comparison of blood glucose and serum fructosamine among the groups; ② Correlation between serum fructosamine and blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebrovascular diseases and those without diabetes mellitus. RESULTS: All the 48 patients with cerebrovascular disease and 50 healthy subjects were involved in the analysis of results. ① Contents of blood glucose and serum fructosamine: There were obvious differences in the contents of blood glucose and serum fructosamine among the diabetes mellitus group, without diabetes mellitus group and control group (F =577.7, 115.1, P < 0. 01). The content of serum fructosamine in the diabetes mellitus group [(4.25±1.35) mmol/ L] was obviously higher than those in the control group and without diabetes mellitus group [(1.65±0.27), (1.96±0.25) mmol/ L, q =1.47, 1.30, P < 0.01], whereas there was no significant difference between the without diabetes mellitus group and control group (P > 0.05). The content of blood glucose was obviously higher in the patients with and without diabetes mellitus groups [(15.80±2.13), (9.50 ±1.78) mmol/L] than in the control group [(4.56 ±0.77) mmol/L, q =1.86, 2.46, P < 0.01], also markedly higher in the with diabetes mellitus group than in the without diabetes mellitus group (q =1.42, P < 0.01). ② Results of correlation analysis: The content of serum fructosamine was positively correlated with the level of fasting blood glucose in the patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebrovascular diseases (r = 0.603, P < 0.01). But there was no relationship between serum fructosamine and fasting blood glucose in the patients without diabetes mellitus (r =0.357, P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: The contents of blood glucose and serum fructosamine were obviously different among the diabetes mellitus group, without diabetes mellitus group and control group. There are closer relations between serum fructosamine and blood glucose in patients with diabetes mellitus secondary cerebral disorders, which are not observed in the patients without diabetes mellitus.
