Effectiveness of exercise in hepatic fat mobilization in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease: Systematic review显示文摘AIM: To investigate the efficacy of exercise interventions on hepatic fat mobilization in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) patients.METHODS: Ovid-Medline, Pub Med, EMBASE and Cochrane database were searched for randomized trials and prospective cohort studies in adults aged ≥ 18 which investigated the effects of at least 8 wk of exercise only or combination with diet on NAFLD from 2010 to 2016. The search terms used to identify articles, in which exercise was clearly described by type, duration, intensity and frequency were: 'NASH', 'NAFLD', 'nonalcoholic steatohepatitis', 'non-alcoholic fatty liver disease', 'fat', 'steatosis', 'diet', 'exercise', 'MR spectroscopy' and 'liver biopsy'. NAFLD diagnosis, as well as the outcome measures, was confirmed by either hydrogen-magnetic resonance spectroscopy(H-MRS) or biopsy. Trials that included dietary interventions along with exercise were accepted if they met all criteria. RESULTS: Eight studies met selection criteria(6 with exercise only, 2 with diet and exercise with a total of 433 adult participants). Training interventions ranged between 8 and 48 wk in duration with a prescribed exercise frequency of 3 to 7 d per week, at intensities between 45% and 75% of VO2 peak. The most commonly used imaging modality was H-MRS and one study utilized biopsy. The effect of intervention on fat mobilization was 30.2% in the exercise only group and 49.8% in diet and exercise group. There was no difference between aerobic and resistance exercise intervention, although only one study compared thetwo interventions. The beneficial effects of exercise on intrahepatic triglyceride(IHTG) were seen even in the absence of significant weight loss. Although combining an exercise program with dietary interventions augmented the reduction in IHTG, as well as improved measures of glucose control and/or insulin sensitivity, exercise only significantly decreased hepatic lipid contents.CONCLUSION: Prescribed exercise in subjects with NAFLD reduces IHTG independent of dietary intervention. Diet and exercise was more effective than exercise alone in reducing IHTG.Pegah Golabi Cameron T Locklear Patrick Austin Sophie Afdhal Melinda Byrns Lynn Gerber Zobair M Younossi 2016World Journal of Gastroenterology2016,22,27:30
Pregnancy and inflammatory bowel diseases: Current perspectives, risks and patient management显示文摘Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD) are chronic idiopathic inflammatory conditions characterized by relapsing and remitting episodes of inflammation which can affect several different regions of the gastrointestinal tract, but also shows extra-intestinal manifestations. IBD is most frequently diagnosed during peak female reproductive years, with 25% of women with IBD conceiving after their diagnosis. While IBD therapy has improved dramatically with enhanced surveillance and more abundant and powerful treatment options, IBD disease can have important effects on pregnancy and presents several challenges for maintaining optimal outcomes for mothers with IBD and the developing fetus/neonate. Women with IBD, the medical team treating them(both gastroenterologists and obstetricians/gynecologists) must often make highly complicated choices regarding conception, pregnancy, and post-natal care(particularly breastfeeding) related to their choice of treatment options at different phases of pregnancy as well as post-partum. This current review discusses current concerns and recommendations for pregnancy duringIBD and is intended for gastroenterologists, general practitioners and IBD patients intending to become,(or already) pregnant, and their families. We have addressed patterns of IBD inheritance, effects of IBD on fertility and conception(in both men and women), the effects of IBD disease activity on maintenance of pregnancy and outcomes, risks of diagnostic procedures during pregnancy and potential risks and complications associated with different classes of IBD therapeutics. We also have evaluated the clinical experience using 'top-down' care with biologics, which is currently the standard care at our institution. Post-partum care and breastfeeding recommendations are also addressed.Pegah Hosseini-Carroll Monica Mutyala Abhishek Seth Shaheen Nageeb Demiana Soliman Moheb Boktor Ankur Sheth Jonathon Chapman James Morris Paul Jordan Kenneth Manas Felix Becker Jonathan Steven Alexander 2015World Journal of Gastrointestinal Pharmacology and Therapeutics2015,6,4:4
The effect of random dopant fluctuation on threshold voltage and drain current variation in junctionless nanotransistors显示文摘We investigate the effect of dopant random fluctuation on threshold voltage and drain current variation in a two-gate nanoscale transistor. We used a quantum-corrected technology computer aided design simulation to run the simulation(10000 randomizations). With this simulation, we could study the effects of varying the dimensions(length and width), and thicknesses of oxide and dopant factors of a transistor on the threshold voltage and drain current in subthreshold region(off) and overthreshold(on). It was found that in the subthreshold region the variability of the drain current and threshold voltage is relatively fixed while in the overthreshold region the variability of the threshold voltage and drain current decreases remarkably, despite the slight reduction of gate voltage diffusion(compared with that of the subthreshold). These results have been interpreted by using previously reported models for threshold current variability, load displacement, and simple analytical calculations. Scaling analysis shows that the variability of the characteristics of this semiconductor increases as the effects of the short channel increases. Therefore, with a slight increase of length and a reduction of width, oxide thickness, and dopant factor, we could correct the effect of the short channel.Arash Rezapour Pegah Rezapour 2015Journal of Semiconductors2015,36,9:3
Biostratigraphy and Paleoecology of Maastrichtian Sediments in the Zagros Basin, Iran显示文摘To enable the lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic study of the Gurpi Formation, within the ‘Dezak' or Globigerina Marl,a stratigraphic section at Booraki, located to the NNW of Shiraz,SW Iran, through the late Cretaceous was examined. The formation consists of shale and greenish-gray marls interbedded with cream limestone, brown sandstones and siltstones with an exposed thickness of 160 m in the studied section.Samples were taken at regular intervals in all yielding 14 genera and 16 different species of benthic and planktic foraminifera that allowed determination of the age of the beds as Maastrichtian. To examine the paleoecology of the formation, some important ecological factors including water level, salinity, and oxygen regime change during the depositional courses of the formation were analyzed. The density of foraminiferans decreases from the base to top of the Gurpi Formation whereas the ratio of planktic to benthic Foraminifera(i.e.,P/B) and proportion of shallow-water fauna increase. These foraminiferal changes indicate an increase and decrease in depth, temperature, salinity and oxygen, respectively,at the base and top of the Formation.Mahnaz Parvaneh Nejad SHIRAZI Pegah SHAMS Mohammad BAHRAMI 2013Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2013,87,5:2

Reinfection risk of novel coronavirus(COVID-19):A systematic review of current evidence显示文摘BACKGROUND There is recently a concern regarding the reinfection and reactivation of previously reCoVered coronavirus disease 2019(CoVID-19)patients.AIM To summarize the recent findings and reports of CoVID-19 reinfection in patients previously reCoVered from the disease.METHODS This study was a systematic review of current evidence conducted in August 2020.The authors studied the probable reinfection risk of novel coronavirus(CoVID-19).We performed a systematic search using the keywords in online databases. The investigation adheres to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA)checklist to ensure the reliability and validity of this study and results.RESULTS We reviewed 31 studies.Eight studies described reCoVered patients with reinfection.Only one study reported reinfected patients who died.In 26 studies, there was no information about the status of the patients.Several studies indicated that reinfection is not probable and that post-infection immunity is at least temporary and short.CONCLUSION Based on our review,we concluded that a positive polymerase chain reaction retest could be due to several reasons and should not always be considered as reinfection or reactivation of the disease. Most relevant studies in positive retest patients have shown relative and probably temporary immunity after the reCoVery of the disease.SeyedAhmad SeyedAlinaghi Shahram Oliaei Shaghayegh Kianzad Amir Masoud Afsahi Mehrzad MohsseniPour Alireza Barzegary Pegah Mirzapour Farzane Behnezhad Tayebeh Noori Esmaeil Mehraeen Omid Dadras Fabricio Voltarelli Jean-Marc Sabatier 2020World Journal of Virology2020,9,5:1
Interrelationship between physical activity and depression in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is associated with a sedentary lifestyle and depressive symptoms. It is also well established that physical inactivity and depressive symptoms are related. However,an investigation of the interaction between all of these factors in NAFLD has not been previously conducted.AIM To investigate the interrelationship between physical inactivity and depressive symptoms in individuals with NAFLD.METHODS Data from the Rancho Bernardo Study of Healthy Aging were utilized.589 individuals were included in the analyses(43.1%male;95.8%non-Hispanic white;aged 60.0±7.0 years).NAFLD was defined by using the hepatic steatosis index, depression using the Beck Depression Inventory, and physical activity by selfreport of number of times per week of strenuous activity.Multivariable generalized linear regression models with Gamma distribution were performed to investigate the proposed relationship.RESULTS About 40%of the sample had evidence of NAFLD,9.3%had evidence of depression, and 29%were physically inactive.Individuals with NAFLD and depression were more likely to be physically inactive(60.7%)compared to individuals with neither NAFLD nor depression(22.9%),individuals with depression without NAFLD(37.0%),and individuals with NAFLD without depression(33.3%).After accounting for various comorbidities(i.e.,age,sex,diabetes,hypertension,obesity),individuals with NAFLD and higher levels of physical activity were at a decreased odds of having depressive symptoms[16.1%reduction(95%confidence interval:-25.6 to-5.4%),P=0.004],which was not observed in those without NAFLD.CONCLUSION Individuals with NAFLD have high levels of physical inactivity, particularly those with depressive symptoms.Because this group is at high risk for poor outcomes, practitioners should screen for the coexistence of depressive symptoms and NAFLD.This group should receive appropriate interventions aimed at increasing both participation and levels of intensity of physical activity.Ali A Weinstein Leyla De Avila Saisruthi Kannan James M Paik Pegah Golabi Lynn H Gerber Zobair M Younossi 2022World Journal of Hepatology2022,14,3:1

Engineered FeVO4/CeO2 nanocomposite as a two-way superior electro-Fenton catalyst for model and real wastewater treatment显示文摘FeVO4/CeO2 was applied in the electro-Fenton(EF)degradation of Methyl Orange(MO)as a model of wastewater pollution. The results of the characterization techniques indicate that FeVO4 with triclinic structure and face-centered cubic fluorite CeO2 maintained their structures during the nanocomposite synthesis. The effect of applied current intensity, initial pollutant concentration, initial pH,and catalyst weight was investigated. The MO removal reached 96.31%and chemical oxygen demand(COD)removal 70%for 60 min of the reaction. The presence of CeO2 in the nanocomposite plays a key role in H2O2 electro-generation as a significant factor in the electro-Fenton(EF)system.The metal leaching from FeVO4/CeO2 was negligible(cerium 4.1%,iron 4.3%,and vanadium 1.7%),which indicates that the active species in the nanocomposite are strongly interacting with each other and are stable. The performance of the nanocatalyst in real wastewaters, salty, and binary systems was acceptable and the pollutions were removed efficiently. The synergistic effect between V,Fe,and Ce could be account as the reason for the respectable function of FeVO4/CeO2.The electron transfer proceeds via Haber-Weiss mechanism.A degradation pathway was proposed through by-products analysis using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC–MS)technique. The pseudo-first-order kinetic model described the obtained experimental results(R2=0.9906).The electro-Fenton system efficiency was improved by adding persulfate. The nanocomposite preserved almost its efficiency after six cycles. The obtained results demonstrate that the synergistic catalyst(FeVO4/CeO2)has the capability to introduce as a promising replacement of conventional catalysts in the electro-Fenton processes with brilliant proficiency.Shahrbanoo Rahman Setayesh Pegah Nazari Roghaye Maghbool 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,11:1

The role of humic acid in Fenton reaction for the removal of aliphatic fraction of total petroleum hydrocarbons(diesel range)in soil显示文摘This study investigated the role of humic acid in Fenton reaction for the total petroleum hydrocarbons(TPH)(diesel)in soil.Batch reactions were conducted at varying humic acid dosages and pH.For the lowest molecular weight diesel contaminants,a humic acid dosage of 10 mg/l produced the favourable effect of reducing Fe3t to Fe2t which continued for higher humic acid dosages of 50,100 and 150 mg/l.Conversely,for higher molecular weight diesel contaminants, the negative effect of hydroxyl radicals consumption by the humic acid was more significant than its reduction of Fe^(3+) to Fe^(2+).The positive role of humic acid on Fenton reaction increased with increasing humic acid dosage for the overall TPH,with an optimum dosage of 150 mg/l.At higher pH,the removal efficiencies increased or reduced depending on the molecular weight of TPH.The power law and pseudo-first-order kinetic models fitted the experimental kinetic data well.Seyedeh Pegah Jalilian Ahmadkalaei Suyin Gan Hoon Kiat Ng Suhaimi Abdul Talib 2021Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2021,,3:1
