1Assessment of the influence of global dimming on the photosynthetic production of rice based on three-dimensional modeling显示文摘Observations indicate that global radiation reaching the Earth's surface has gradually decreased over the past several decades(i.e.,the 'global dimming' phenomenon),while the fraction of diffuse radiation in global radiation has increased.It has been found that the increase in diffuse fraction significantly increases photosynthetic production in the canopy,but the mechanism has not been clarified.A three-dimensional light distribution model considering the geometry of incident radiation was employed in this study.This model was used to simulate the light distribution and potential photosynthetic production of rice canopy.The results indicate that the potential photosynthetic production of rice significantly increases in response to an increase in the diffuse fraction as long as global radiation does not decline greatly.The 'fertilization effect' of diffuse radiation results from the reduction of leaf area with photosynthetic photon flux density(PPFD) below the light compensation point in response to an increasing diffuse fraction,and an increase in the leaf area with PPFD on the linear part of the light response curve.The increase in the diffuse fraction results in a significant increase in the photosynthetic rate of the upper canopy.High-performance computation is an easy-to-use and economic approach to overcome the computational constraints of the model.ZHENG BangYou MA YunTao LI BaoGuo GUO Yan DENG QiYun 2011Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,2:4
2Systems model-guided rice yield improvements based on genes controlling source, sink, and flow显示文摘A large number of genes related to source, sink,and flow have been identified after decades of research in plant genetics. Unfortunately, these genes have not been effectively utilized in modern crop breeding. This perspective paper aims to examine the reasons behind such a phenomenon and propose a strategy to resolve this situation. Specifically, we first systematically survey the currently cloned genes related to source, sink, and flow;then we discuss three factors hindering effective application of these identified genes, which include the lack of effective methods to identify limiting or critical steps in a signaling network, the misplacement of emphasis on properties, at the leaf, instead of the whole canopy level,and the non-linear complex interaction between source,sink, and flow. Finally, we propose the development of systems models of source, sink and flow, together with a detailed simulation of interactions between them and their surrounding environments, to guide effective use of the identified elements in modern rice breeding. 4Pyroelectric property of SrTiO_(3)/Si ferroelectric-semiconductor heterojunctions near room temperature显示文摘A nonlinear thermodynamic formalism is developed to calculate the pyroeletric property of epitaxial single domain SrTiO_(3)/Si heterojunctions by taking into account the thermal expansion misfit strain at diferent temperatures.It has been demonstrated that the crucial role was played by the contribution associated with the structure order parameter arising from the rotations of oxygen octahedral on pyroelectricity.A dramatic decrease in the pyroelectric cofficient due to the strong coupling between the polarization and the structure order parameter is found at ferroelectric T_(p1)-T_(p2) phase transition.At the same time,the thermal expansion mismatch between film and substrate is also found to provide an additional weak decrease of pyroelectricity.The analytic relationship of the out-of-plane pyroeletric coefficient and dielectric constant of ferroeletric phases by considering the thermal expansion of thin films and substrates has been determined for the first time.Our research provides another avenue for the investigation of the pyroelectric effects of ferroic thin films,especially,such as antiferroelectric and muliferroic materials having two or more order parameters.Gang Bai Dongmei Wu Qiyun Xie Yanyan Guo Wei Li Licheng Deng Zhiguo Liu 2015Journal of Advanced Dielectrics2015,5,4:0
