| 1 | Detection and sequencing of plasmid encoded tetracycline resistance determinants(tetA and tetB) from food-borne Bacillus cereus isolates显示文摘Objective:To investigate the detection and sequencing of plasmid encoded tetracycline resistance genes(tet A and tet B) from food-borne and standard strains of Bacillus cereus(B. cereus).Methods:PCR was carried out to detect the tetracycline resistance genes(tet A and tet B) in food-borne B.cereus strains and the amplified products were sequenced.Results:The phenotypic resistance against tetracycline was observed in 39 of the 118 food-borne isolates and two reference strains(MTCC 430 and MTCC 1307) of B.cereus.Among the phenotypically resistant isolates,tet A was detected in 36 food-borne isolates and two reference strains(MTCC 430 and MTCC 1307).whereas,tel B was detected in 12 food-bome isolates and MTCC 1307 strain. Conclusions:A close association was therefore found between phenotypic resistance against tetracycline and presence of tetracycline resistance genes.The tet A and tet B gene fragments were amplified,purified and sequenced.The gene sequences of the isolates studied herein were found similar to tetA and tetB gene sequences of other bacteria available in NCBI.The occurrence of tetA and tetB genes in B.cereus indicate the horizontal transfer of antibiotic resistance determinants from other bacteria into B.cereus.The transfer of these resistant determinants to other potentially pathogenic bacteria may be a matter of great concern. | Mudasir Ali Rather Rabinder Singh Aulakh Jatinder Paul Singh Gill Abdul Qayoom Mir Mir Nadeem Hassan | 2012 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2012，5，9： | 6 |

| 16 | Inhaling muscle spray: A rising trend of abuse显示文摘Ethyl chloride was popular as an inhalant recreational drug in the 1980s.It is easily available in pharmacies as well as sold online as a topical anesthetic spray for pain relief.In recent times,its use is gaining popularity again among the youth as an inhalant drug due to its neuro-stimulatory effects.To avoid the risks associated with use of illegal drugs,and ease of availability of ethyl chloride without restrictions,there is a rising trend to use it as a“substitute”drug of abuse.In this paper,we try to highlight to the critical care and emergency physicians that majority of these cases present with predominant neurological symptoms,with occasional involvement of the cardiovascular system.The diagnosis of ethyl chloride poisoning is primarily clinical and supportive care is the mainstay of treatment,along with subsequent counseling.Ethyl chloride abuse should be considered as a differential diagnosis in young patients presenting with predominant neurological symptoms.Alongside raising public awareness,the manufacturers and retail distributors of these products have an important role to play in reducing the risk of abuse. | Sohil Pothiawala Chong King Yong Rabind Charles | 2021 | World Journal of Critical Care Medicine2021，10，3： | 0 |
