1Assessment of tear film parameters post-treatment with commercial eyelid cleaning wipes:a pilot study显示文摘AIM:To investigate the short-term effects of commercially available eyelid-cleaning wipes on film parameters.METHODS:This study enrolled 48 healthy participants aged 20-35y(both males and females).Clinical assessment included the Ocular Surface Disease Index(OSDI)questionnaire,non-invasive tear break-up time(NITBUT),tear meniscus height(TMH),and lipid layer pattern(LLP).Based on these initial results, participants were categorized as either non-dry eye or dry eye.Participants in each group were randomly allocated to either Blephaclean■or Systane■treatments.Changes in NITBUT,TMH,and LLP levels before and after lid wipe treatment were assessed.RESULTS:The dry eye group exhibited significantly higher OSDI scores and lower NITBUT and TMH levels than in the non-dry eye group(P<0.001).Following the application of eyelid wipes(Systane■wipes),dry eye subjects experienced a significant improvement in NITBUT levels(P=0.0014)compared to the non-dry eye individuals.Although the remaining participants showed a marginal increase in TMH and NITBUT levels, these changes did not achieve statistical significance(P>0.05).Similarly,the LLP levels were significantly improved with Systane■(P<0.001)post-treatment compared to individuals in the non-dry eye group. However, the dry eye subjects showed higher posttreatment LLP levels than the untreated group(P<0.02).CONCLUSION:The short-term effects of Systane®eyelid wipes on tear film parameters suggest their effectiveness in dry eye disease.Nonetheless, further exploration of their long-term impact is essential to justify their cost effectiveness and efficacy in treating both aqueous deficiency and evaporative dryness.Amal Aldarwesh Ali Almustanyir Raied Fagehi Khalaf Alruways Abdulaziz Bin Turki Mansour Alghamdi Muteb Khalaf Alanazi Balsam Alabdulkader Wafa Alotaibi Mosaad Alhassan 2024International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2024,17,4:0
2Emergency Prioritized and Congestion Handling Protocol for Medical Internet of Things显示文摘Medical Internet of Things(MIoTs)is a collection of small and energyefficient wireless sensor devices that monitor the patient’s body. The healthcare networks transmit continuous data monitoring for the patients to survive them independently. There are many improvements in MIoTs,but still, there are critical issues that might affect the Quality of Service(QoS)of a network.Congestion handling is one of the critical factors that directly affect the QoS of the network. The congestion in MIoT can cause more energy consumption, delay, and important data loss.If a patient has an emergency, then the life-critical signals must transmit with minimum latency.During emergencies, the MIoTs have to monitor the patients continuously and transmit data(e.g.,ECG,BP,heart rate, etc.)with minimum delay. Therefore, there is an efficient technique required that can transmit emergency data of high-risk patients to the medical staff on time with maximum reliability. The main objective of this research is to monitor and transmit the patient’s real-time data efficiently and to prioritize the emergency data.In this paper,Emergency Prioritized and Congestion Handling Protocol for Medical IoTs(EPCP_MIoT)is proposed that efficiently monitors the patients and overcome the congestion by enabling different monitoring modes.Whereas the emergency data transmissions are prioritized and transmit at SIFS time. The proposed technique is implemented and compared with the previous technique, the comparison results show that the proposed technique outperforms the previous techniques in terms of network throughput, end to end delay, energy consumption, and packet loss ratio.Sabeen Tahir Sheikh Tahir Bakhsh Rayed AlGhamdi 2021Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,1:0
