1Recent progress of residual stress measurement methods: A review显示文摘Residual stress is one of the main factors affecting the mechanical properties of materials, such as their strength, plasticity and surface integrity. For instance, tensile stress conditions can adversely affect material performance or component life, while compressive stress conditions can improve material fatigue strength. During the processing of integrated aviation structures, machining deformation caused by residual stress has become one of the most prominent manufacturing problems. Therefore, it is very important to measure and evaluate the stress for real applications.This paper reviews the research of residual stress measurement methods over the past five years by classifying them according to the measurement methods appearing in each stage. The existing problems and difficulties of each measurement technology are summarized, and future trends are forecasted. 2Microstructure studies of the grinding damage in monocrystalline silicon wafers显示文摘The depth and nature of the subsurface damage in a silicon wafer will limit the performance of IC components. Damage microstructures of the silicon wafers ground by the #325, #600, and #2000 grinding wheels was analyzed. The re-sults show that many microcracks, fractures, and dislocation rosettes appear in the surface and subsurface of the wafer ground by the #325 grinding wheel. No obvious microstructure change exists. The amorphous layer with a thickness of about 100 nm, microcracks, high density dislocations, and polycrystalline silicon are observed in the subsurface of the wafer ground by the #600 grinding wheel. For the wafer ground by the #2000 grinding wheel, an amorphous layer of about 30 nm thickness, a polycrystalline silicon layer, a few dislocations, and an elastic deformation layer exist. 3Numerical analysis of broadband noise reduction with wavy leading edge显示文摘Large Eddy Simulation(LES) is performed to investigate the airfoil broadband noise reduction with wavy leading edge under anisotropic incoming turbulence. The anisotropic incoming turbulence is generated by a rod with a diameter of 10 mm. The incoming flow velocity is 40 m/s and the corresponding Reynolds numbers based on airfoil chord and rod diameter are about 397000 and 26000, respectively. The far-field acoustic field is predicted using an acoustic analogy method which has been validated by the experiment. A straight leading edge airfoil and a wavy leading edge airfoil are simulated. The results show that wavy leading edge increases the airfoil lift and drag whereas the lift and drag fluctuations are substantially reduced. In addition, wavy leading edge can significantly change the flow pattern around the leading edge and a pair of counter-rotating streamwise vortices stemming from each wavy leading edge peak are observed.An averaged noise reduction of 9.5 dB is observed with the wavy leading edge at the azimuthal angle of 90°. Moreover, the wavy leading edge can mitigate noise radiation at all the azimuthal angles without significantly changing the noise directivity. 4A critical review on the chemical wear and wear suppression of diamond tools in diamond cutting of ferrous metals显示文摘Diamond tools play a critical role in ultra-precision machining due to their excellent physical and mechanical material properties,such as that cutting edge can be sharpened to nanoscale accuracy.However,abrasive chemical reactions between diamond and non-diamond-machinable metal elements,including Fe,Cr,Ti,Ni,etc,can cause excessive tool wear in diamond cutting of such metals and most of their alloys.This paper reviews the latest achievements in the chemical wear and wear suppression methods for diamond tools in cutting of ferrous metals.The focus will be on the wear mechanism of diamond tools,and the typical wear reduction methods for diamond cutting of ferrous metals,including ultrasonic vibration cutting,cryogenic cutting,surface nitridation and plasma assisted cutting,etc.Relevant commercially available devices are introduced as well.Furthermore,future research trends in diamond tool wear suppression are discussed and examined.Guo Jiang Zhang Jianguo Pan Yanan Kang Renke Namba Yoshiharu Shore Paul Yue Xiaobin Wang Baorui Guo Dongming 2020International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing2020,2,1:7
5Subsurface Damage in Scratch Testing of Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate Crystal显示文摘Potassium dihydrogen phosphate(KDP) is an important electro-optic crystal, often used for frequency conversion and Pockels cells in large aperture laser systems.To investigate the influence of anisotropy to the depth of subsurface damage and the profiles of cracks in subsurface of KDP crystal, an experimental study was made to obtain the form of subsurface damage produced by scratches on KDP crystal in 100, 120 and 110 crystal directions on(001) crystal plane.The results indicated that there were great differences between depth and crack shape in different directions.For many slip planes in KDP, the plastic deformation and cracks generated under pressure in the subsurface were complex.Fluctuations of subsurface damage depth at transition point were attributed to the deformation of the surface which consumed more energy when the surface deformation changed from the mixed region of brittle and plastic to the complete brittle region along the scratch.Also, the process of subsurface damage from shallow to deep, from dislocation to big crack in KDP crystal with the increase of radial force and etch pit on different crystal plane were obtained.Because crystallographic orientation and processing orientation was different, etching pits on(100) crystal plane were quadrilateral while on(110) plane and(120) plane were trapezoidal and triangular, respectively.WANG Ben WU Dongjiang GAO Hang KANG Renke GUO Dongming 2009Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2009,22,1:3
6Hole quality in longitudinal–torsional coupled ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling of carbon fiber reinforced plastics显示文摘Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) composites are extremely attractive in the manufacturing of structural and functional components in the aircraft manufacturing field due to their outstanding properties, such as good fatigue resistance, high specific stiffness/strength, and good shock absorption. However, because of their inherent anisotropy, low interlamination strength, and abrasive characteristics, CFRP composites are considered difficult-to-cut materials and are prone to generating serious hole defects, such as delamination, tearing, and burrs. The advanced longitudinal–torsional coupled ultrasonic vibration assisted drilling (LTC-UAD) method has a potential application for drilling CFRP composites. At present, LTC-UAD is mainly adopted for drilling metal materials and rarely for CFRP. Therefore, this study analyzes the kinematic characteristics and the influence of feed rate on the drilling performance of LTC-UAD. Experimental results indicate that LTC-UAD can reduce the thrust force by 39% compared to conventional drilling. Furthermore, LTC-UAD can decrease the delamination and burr factors and improve the surface quality of the hole wall. 10Nanomechanical behaviors of (110) and (111) CdZnTe crystals investigated by nanoindentation显示文摘The nanomechanical behaviors of (110) and (111) CdZnTe crystals were investigated by nanoindentation. It was found that the indenter tip was adhered by the removed materials in scanning testing area although the scanning force on the tested surface was very small (1000 nN), which would affect the testing result of nanoindentation, so the indenter was clean before nanoindentation test. The experimemtal results showed that the hardness and Young's modulus decreased with the increase of indentation loads on the same plane. Because of the anisotropy of the CdZnTe crystal,the average hardness of (110) plane is 35% lower than that of (111) plane, and there are about 30% difference of the hardness along different crystallographic directions on the same plane. The hardness in 0° and 120° testing directions was the same due to the threefold symmetry of a Berkovich indenter. 12Implementation strategies for high accuracy grinding of hydrodynamic seal ring with wavy face for reactor coolant pumps显示文摘Large size mechanical seals are one of the most important components used in reactor coolant pumps.However,the hydrodynamic seal rings with wavy face are difficult to machine due to their high hardness and high form accuracy demand.In order to solve this difficult problem,a novel four-axis linkage grinding method using a cup wheel to process the hydrodynamic seal rings by line contact was proposed.A preliminary study indicates that the form error of the ground seal ring surface is extremely sensitive to different linkage relations of the four axes.By taking the center height of the cup wheel and the laws of motion along the X-axis,Z-axis,B-axis and C-axis as control variables,their effects on the principle form error of the ground surface are evaluated.Six implementation strategies are proposed to reach lower principle form errors.It is found that the minimal principle form error is only 9.64 nm and hence its influence on the ground seal ring shape can be neglected in designing an ultra-precision grinding machine.In addition,the results indicate that the position accuracy of the X-axis at the microscale is acceptable no matter which implementation strategy is selected.This study is expected to serve as a theoretical basis for design and development of the four-axis ultra-precision grinding machine.FENG Guang GUO DongMing HUO FengWei JIN ZhuJi KANG RenKe 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,10:2
