2Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt in cirrhosis: An exhaustive critical update显示文摘More than five decades after it was originally conceptualized as rescue therapy for patients with intractable variceal bleeding,the transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS)procedure continues to remain a focus of intense clinical and biomedical research.By the impressive reduction in portal pressure achieved by this intervention,coupled with its minimally invasive nature,TIPS has gained increasing acceptance in the treatment of complications of portal hypertension.The early years of TIPS were plagued by poor long-term patency of the stents and increased incidence of hepatic encephalopathy.Moreover,the diversion of portal flow after placement of TIPS often resulted in derangement of hepatic functions,which was occasionally severe.While the incidence of shunt dysfunction has markedly reduced with the advent of covered stents,hepatic encephalopathy and instances of early liver failure continue to remain a significant issue after TIPS.It has emerged over the years that careful selection of patients and diligent post-procedural care is of paramount importance to optimize the outcome after TIPS.The past twenty years have seen multiple studies redefining the role of TIPS in the management of variceal bleeding and refractory ascites while exploring its application in other complications of cirrhosis like hepatic hydrothorax,portal hypertensive gastropathy,ectopic varices,hepatorenal and hepatopulmonary syndromes,non-tumoral portal vein thrombosis and chylous ascites.It has also been utilized to good effect before extrahepatic abdominal surgery to reduce perioperative morbidity and mortality.The current article aims to review the updated literature on the status of TIPS in the management of patients with liver cirrhosis.Sasidharan Rajesh Tom George Cyriac Abby Philips Rizwan Ahamed Sandeep Kumbar Narain Mohan Meera Mohanan Philip Augustine 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,37:26

4More anxious than depressed:prevalence and correlates in a 15-nation study of anxiety disorders in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus显示文摘Background Anxiety disorder, one of the highly disabling, prevalent and common mental disorders, is known to be more prevalent in persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) than the general population, and the comorbid presence of anxiety disorders is known to have an impact on the diabetes outcome and the quality of life. However, the information on the type of anxiety disorder and its prevalence in persons with T2DM is limited. Aims To assess the prevalence and correlates of anxiety disorder in people with type 2 diabetes in different countries. Methods People aged 18-65 years with diabetes and treated in outpatient settings were recruited in 15 countries and underwent a psychiatric interview with the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview. Demographic and medical record data were collected. Results A total of 3170 people with type 2 diabetes (56.2% women;with mean (SD) duration of diabetes 10.01 (7.0) years) participated. The overall prevalence of anxiety disorders in type 2 diabetic persons was 18%;however, 2.8% of the study population had more than one type of anxiety disorder. The most prevalent anxiety disorders were generalised anxiety disorder (8.1%) and panic disorder (5.1%). Female gender, presence of diabetic complications, longer duration of diabetes and poorer glycaemic control (HbA1c levels) were significantly associated with comorbid anxiety disorder. A higher prevalence of anxiety disorders was observed in Ukraine, Saudi Arabia and Argentina with a lower prevalence in Bangladesh and India. Conclusions Our international study shows that people with type 2 diabetes have a high prevalence of anxiety disorders, especially women, those with diabetic complications, those with a longer duration of diabetes and poorer glycaemic control. 5Adsorptive removal of phosphate by the bimetallic hydroxide nanocomposites embedded in pomegranate peel显示文摘This study aimed to fabricate new and effective material for the efficiency of phosphate adsorption.Two types of adsorbent materials,the zirconium hydroxides embedded in pomegranate peel(Zr/Peel)and zirconium-lanthanum hydroxides embedded in pomegranate peel(Zr-La/Peel)were developed.Scanning electronic microscopy(SEM),x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and x-ray diffraction(XRD)were evaluated to give insight into the physicochemical properties of these adsorbents.Zr-La/Peel exceeded the adsorption efficiency of Zr/Peel adsorbents in batch adsorption experiments at the same pH level.The peel as a host can strive to have a strong'shielding effect'to increase the steadiness of the entrenched Zr and La elements.La and Zr are hydroxide metals that emit many hydrogen ions during the hydrolysis reaction,which contribute to protonation and electrostatic attraction.The highest adsorption capacity of La-Zr/Peel for phosphate was calculated to be40.21 mg/g,and pseudo second-order equation is very well fitted for kinetic adsorption.Phosphate adsorption efficiency was reduced by an increase of pH.With the background of coexisting Cl-,little effect on adsorption efficiency was observed,while adsorption capacities were reduced by almost 20-30%with the coexistence of SO42-,NO3-and humic acid(HA).Muhammad Akram Xing Xu Baoyu Gao Qinyan Yue Shang Yanan Rizwan Khan Muhammad Ali Inam 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,5:8
6Takotsubo cardiomyopathy:Pathophysiology and role of cardiac biomarkers in differential diagnosis显示文摘Takotsubo cardiomyopathy(TC) is characterized by reversible ventricular dysfunction, not limited to the distribution of an epicardial coronary artery. A disease primarily afflicting post-menopausal women, it is frequently mistaken for acute anterior wall myocardial infarction. Alternatively called Stress Cardiomyopathy, physical or emotional triggers are identified in only three fourths of TC patients. Long considered a benign condition, recent findings suggest poor short term prognosis similar to acute coronary syndrome(ACS). Despite the widely recognized pathophysiological role of catecholamine excess, its diagnostic role is uncertain. TC is suspected based on typical wall motion abnormalities in ventriculogram or echocardiogram. Several additional electrocardiographic, laboratory and imaging parameters have been studied with the goal of clinical diagnosis of TC. While several clinical clues differentiate it from ACS, a clinical diagnosis is often elusive leading to avoidable cardiac catheterizations. Natriuretic peptides(NPs), a family of peptide hormones released primarily in response to myocardial stretch, play a significant role in pathophysiology, diagnosis as well as treatment of congestive heart failure. TC with its prominent ventricular dysfunction is associated with a significant elevation of NPs. NPs are elevated in ACS as well but the degree of elevation is typically lesser than in TC. Markers of myocardial injury such as troponin are usually elevated to a higher degree in ACS than in TC. 7基于高光谱成像的牧草粗蛋白含量检测研究显示文摘粗蛋白(CP)是评价牧草营养价值和品质参数的关键指标。快速、准确地对牧草中粗蛋白含量进行评估在畜牧业生产研究中具有重要意义。为确定牧草粗蛋白含量的高光谱特征波段及最优检测模型,研究分别于2017年5月至9月间在黑龙江省杜尔伯特自治区的人工牧草场(羊草)内每月随机选取35个样本,5个月共采集175个样本。采样时在样本点处放置1m×1m的样方,将样方内所有牧草全部齐地面收割采集后称重并冷藏保存。将样本带回实验室后,立即进行牧草叶片高光谱图像采集,同时采用凯氏定氮法对采集的牧草样本进行粗蛋白化学值测定,以此建立牧草粗蛋白含量高光谱数据集。研究首先通过Savitzky-Golay卷积平滑(SG)、多元散射校正(MSC)、变量标准化(SNV)、一阶导数(1-Der)和直接正交信号校正(DOSC)方法5种预处理方法对高光谱数据进行处理后分别建立偏最小二乘回归(PLSR)检测模型,从中确定最优预处理方法。利用最优预处理结果,分别采用连续投影算法(SPA)和随机蛙跳算法(RF)进行牧草粗蛋白含量的特征波段选择,并利用选择结果分别进一步建立PLSR模型,以此确定适合粗蛋白含量的特征波段选择方法,确定最优高光谱检测模型。结果表明,在五种高光谱预处理方法中,基于SNV方法预处理后所建立的高光谱PLSR模型表现最优(R2-P=0.929,RMSE-P=6.344mg·g^-1,RPD=4.204)。利用连续投影算法筛选的粗蛋白含量特征波长为30个,分布于530~700和940~1000nm范围内。经随机蛙跳算法确定的粗蛋白含量特征波段为6个,分别为826.544,827.285,828.766,971.012,972.494和973.235nm。因此,该研究中牧草粗蛋白含量最优高光谱检测模型为SNV-RF-PLSR(R2-P=0.933,RMSE-P=6.034mg·g^-1,RPD=4.322),模型精度较高。该研究结果为牧草粗蛋白含量的高光谱检测提供了最优模型和理论基础,同时为指导草业生产开拓了新的技术思路。高睿 李泽东 马铮 孔庆明 Muhammad Rizwan 苏中滨 2019光谱学与光谱分析2019,39,10:6
8Steam explosion of crop straws improves the characteristics of biochar as a soil amendment显示文摘Five crop straws (wheat, rice, maize, oil-rape, and cotton) were first steam-exploded for 2 min at 210℃, 2.5 MPa and then pyrolyzed at 500℃ for 2 h. Steam explosion (SE) induced 47–95% and 5–16% reduction of hemicellulose and cellulose, respectively, in the crop straws. The biochars derived from SE-treated feedstocks had a lower specific surface area (SSA) and pore volume, compared to those from pristine feedstocks, with one exception that SE enhanced SSA of oil-rape straw biochar by approximately 16 times. After SE, biochars had significant higher anion exchange capacity (AEC) (6.88–11.44 cmol kg–1) and point of zero net charges (PZNC) (pH 3.61–5.32) values. It can thus be speculated that these biochars may have higher potential for anions adsorption. In addition, oil-rape straw might be suitable to SE pretreatment for preparing biochar as a soil amendment and sorbent as well. 11Saliency-based framework for facial expression recognition显示文摘This article proposes a novel framework for the recognition of six universal facial expressions.The framework is based on three sets of features extracted from a face image:entropy,brightness,and local binary pattern.First, saliency maps are obtained using the state-of-the-art saliency detection algorithm 'frequency-tuned salient region detection'.The idea is to use saliency maps to determine appropriate weights or values for the extracted features (i.e.,brightness and entropy).We have performed a visual experiment to validate the performance of the saliency detection algorithm against the human visual system.Eye movements of 15 subjects were recorded using an eye-tracker in free-viewing conditions while they watched a collection of 54 videos selected from the Cohn-Kanade facial expression database.The results of the visual experiment demonstrated that the obtained saliency maps are consistent with the data on human fixations.Finally,the performance of the proposed framework is demonstrated via satisfactory classification results achieved with the Cohn-Kanade database,FG-NET FEED database, and Dartmouth database of children's faces.Rizwan Ahmed KHAN Alexandre MEYER Hubert KONIK Saida BOUAKAZ 2019Frontiers of Computer Science2019,13,1:5
12Ameliorative effects of potassium on drought-induced decreases in fiber length of cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.) are associated with osmolyte dynamics during fiber development显示文摘Fiber length of cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.)decreases under drought stress,potassium(K)could diminish the decreased caused by drought,but the mechanism associated with this alleviation effect is not clear.We evaluated the effect of K on fiber elongation using two cotton cultivars,Simian 3 and Siza 3,grown in well-watered and drought-stressed conditions.Potassium fertilizer(K2O)was applied 0,150,or 300 kg ha?1 in each growing condition.Drought stress reduced the final fiber length due to a decline in the maximum rate of rapid elongation(Vmax,mmday?1).The application of K alleviated the droughtinduced fiber length reduction by increasing Vmax.At 10 and 15 days post-anthesis(DPA),drought significantly reduced osmotic potential(OP)and increased K+and malate contents at all K rates,relative to well-watered conditions,which was associated with increased activities of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase(PEPC),V-ATPase,PPase,and PM H+-ATPase in cotton fiber.However,the relative contribution of K+and malate to OP declined under drought in comparison with well-watered condition.Compared with control without K,K application decreased OP and increased the accumulation of osmolytes(K+,malate and soluble sugar)as well as the activities of related enzymes in fiber irrespective of water treatments.Moreover,K application increased osmotic adjustment during drought,and improved the contribution of K+and malate to OP,especially under drought stress.This study showed that drought decreased fiber length by reducing Vmax,and K application ameliorates the decline in fiber elongation due to drought by enhancing osmolytes accumulation and their contribution to OP in fiber cells.Wenqing Zhao Haoran Dong Rizwan Zahoor Zhiguo Zhou John L.Snider Yinglong Chen Kadambot H.M.Siddique Youhua Wang 2019The Crop Journal2019,7,5:4
13Water-Lubricated Ni-Based Composite(Ni-Al_2O_3,Ni-SiC and Ni-ZrO_2)Thin Film Coatings for Industrial Applications显示文摘In this work,pure nickel and Ni-based nanocomposite coatings(N1-Al_2O_3,Ni-SiC and Ni-ZrO_2) were produced on steel substrate by using pulse electrodeposition technique.The industrial performance tests were conducted to evaluate the wear resistance,corrosion resistance,adhesion strength and wettability behaviour of newly developed coatings.Rolling contact ball-on-disc tribometer was used to assess anti-wear behaviour of these coatings under waterlubricated contacts.The results showed that the wear- and corrosion resistance properties of nickel alumina and Ni-SiC composite coatings significantly improved than that of pure Ni and Ni-ZrO_2 coatings.The adhesion and wettability results of Ni-Al_2O_3 composite showed better performance when compared to the rest of the coatings.The effects of incorporating nanoparticles on the surface microstructure,interface adhesion and distribution of the particles were also investigated.The coatings were characterized by using scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction analysis and 3D white light interferometry.The wear failure behaviour of these coatings was further examined by post-test surface observation under optical microscope.Rizwan Sarwar Bajwa Zulfiqar Khan Vasilios Bakolas Wolfgang Braun 2016Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2016,29,1:4
14Comparative study of the efficacy of gentamicin-coated intramedullary interlocking nail versus regular intramedullary interlocking nail in Gustilo type I and II open tibia fractures显示文摘Purpose:Open tibia fracture is prone to infection,consequently causing significant morbidity and increasing the hospital stay,occupational loss and onset of chronic osteomyelitis.Intramedullary nailing is one choice for treating tibia shaft fractures.To improve the delivery of antibiotics at the tissue-implant interface,many methods have been proposed as a part of prophylaxis against infection.This study was conducted to study the role of gentamicin-impregnated intramedullary interlocking(IMIL)nail in the prevention of infection in Gustilo typeⅠandⅡopen tibia fractures and to compare the results with regular intramedullary nail.Methods:The study included 28 patients with open tibia fractures(Gustilo type 1 or type 2);of them 14 underwent regular IMIL nailing and the other 14 were treated with gentamicin-coated nailing.Randomization was done by alternate allocation of the patients.Follow-up was done postoperatively(day 1),1 week,6 weeks,and 6 months for bone union,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),hemoglobin and C?reactive protein(CRP).Statistical significance was tested using unpaired t-test.A p value less than 0.05 was considered significant.Results:There were 4 cases of infection in controls(regular IMIL nail)and no infection among patients treated with gentamicin-coated nail during the follow up(Х^2=4.66,p=0.031).At 6 months postoperatively,CRP(p=0.031),ESR(p=0.046)and hemoglobin level(p=0.016)showed significant difference between two groups.The bone healing rate was better with gentamicin-coated nail in comparison to regular IMIL nail at 6 months follow-up(p=0.016).Conclusion:Gentamicin-coated IMIL nail has a positive role in preventing infection in Gustilo typeⅠandⅡopen tibia fractures.Deepak Pinto K.Manjunatha Amarnath D.Savur Naufal Rizwan Ahmed Sharan Mally V.Ramya 2019Chinese Journal of Traumatology2019,22,5:4
15湘西下寒武统牛蹄塘组地球化学特征及其对沉积-构造环境的响应显示文摘为深入探讨湘西地区下寒武统牛蹄塘组黑色岩系沉积-构造环境,对三岔剖面黑色岩系进行了详细采样测试,并重点分析了主量、微量及稀土元素地球化学特征。研究结果表明,牛蹄塘组黑色岩系不仅有机碳含量高,而且相比于北美页岩更富集V、Ni、Cr等微量元素。δ^(13) C_(org)及微量元素判别指标V/(V+Ni)、V/Cr、Ni/Co、δU、Ce/La、Ce_(anom)等特征的变化均反映牛蹄塘组沉积期水体属缺氧还原的浅水环境,且Mo/TOC与U_(EF)-Mo_(EF)协同模式表明沉积区当时为一局限海盆环境。稀土元素(REE)中轻稀土相对重稀土富集,且北美页岩标准化分布模式呈近水平略微左倾状,结合元素比值特征和La/Yb-Ce/Yb、La/Yb-ΣREE图解,牛蹄塘组黑色岩系的母岩以长英质岩石为主,但沉积过程也受到海底热液作用影响。同时,根据δCe、δEu的特征与K_(2)O/Na_(2)O-SiO_(2)图解,认为沉积区在早寒武世为被动大陆边缘构造背景。吴育平 刘成林 龚宏伟 柳永军 Awan Rizwan Sarwar 阳宏 曾晓祥 2021地质与勘探2021,57,5:4

19High surface area and mesoporous activated carbon from KOH-activated dragon fruit peels for methylene blue dye adsorption:Optimization and mechanism study显示文摘In this study,an alternative precursor for production of activated carbon was introduced using dragon fruit(Hylocereus costaricensis)peel(DFP).Moreover,KOH was used as a chemical activator in the thermal carbonization process to convert DFP into activated carbon(DFPAC).In order to accomplish this research,several approaches were employed to examine the elemental composition,surface properties,amorphous and crystalline nature,essential active group,and surface morphology of the DFPAC.The BrunauerEmmettTeller test demonstrated a mesoporous structure of the DFPAC has a high surface area of 756.3 m2g 1.The cationic dye Methylene Blue(MB)was used as a probe to assess the efficiency of DFPAC towards the removal of MB dye from aqueous solution.The effects of adsorption input factors(e.g.DFPAC dose(A:0.040.12 g L 1),pH(B:310),and temperature(C:3050℃))were investigated and optimized using statistical analysis(i.e.BoxBehnken design(BBD)).The adsorption kinetic model can be best categorized as the pseudofirst order(PFO).Whereas,the adsorption isotherm model can be best described by Langmuir model,with maximum adsorption capacity of DFPAC for MB dye was 195.2 mg g 1 at 50℃.The adsorption mechanism of MB by DFPAC surface was attributed to the electrostatic interaction,pp interaction,and Hbonding.Finally,the results support the ability of DFP to be a promising precursor for production of highly porous activated carbon suitable for removal of cationic dyes(e.g.MB).Ali H.Jawad Ahmed Saud Abdulhameed Lee D.Wilson Syed Shatir A.Syed-Hassan Zeid A.ALOthman Mohammad Rizwan Khan 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,4:3
