1Effect of fertilization patterns on the assemblage of weed communities in an upland winter wheat field显示文摘Aims Understanding the response of farmland weed community assembly to fertilization is important for designing better nutrient management strategies in integrated farmland ecological systems.Many studies have focused on weed characteristics,mainly crop–weed competition responses to fertilization or weed communities alone.However,weed community assembly in association with crop growth is poorly understood in the agroecosystems,but is important for the determination of integrated weed management.Biodiversity promotes ecosystem productivity in the grassland,but whether it applies to the agroecosystems is unclear.Based on an 11-year field experiment,the cumulative effects of different fertilization patterns on the floristic composition and species diversity of farmland weed communities along with wheat growth in a winter wheat–soybean rotation were investigated.Methods The field trial included five fertilization patterns with different combinations of N,P and K fertilizers.Species composition and diversity of weed communities,aboveground plant biomass and nutrient accumulation of weeds and winter wheat,light penetration to the ground surface and wheat yield were measured at each plot in 2009 and 2010.Multivariate analysis,regression and analysis of variance were used to analyze the responses of these parameters to the different fertilization treatments.Important Findings Four dominant weeds(Galium aparine L.,Veronica persica Poir.,Vicia sativa L.and Geranium carolinianum L.)accounted for~90%of the total weed density in the 2 years of experimental duration.The residual weed community assembly was influenced primarily by topsoil available nutrients in the order P>N>K.Competition for nutrients and solar radiation between crops and weeds was the main indirect effect of fertilization on the changes in weed community composition and species diversity.The indices of species diversity(species richness,Shannon–Wiener,Pielou and Simpson indices)showed significant linear relationships with wheat yield.The balanced fertilization treatment was more efficient at inhibiting the potential growth of weeds because of solar radiation being intercepted by wheat.These results support the conclusion that wheat yield is favored by balanced fertilization,whereas the weed community is favored by PK fertilization in terms of density and diversity.However,the negative effects on wheat yield may be compromised by simultaneous positive effects of weed communities in the fertilization treatments,for instance,the NP and NK treatments,which are intermediate in terms of increasing wheat production and to a level maintaining a diverse community.Leilei Tang Kaiyuan Wan Chuanpeng Cheng Ruhai Li Daozhong Wang Junfeng Pan Yong Tao Juan Xie Fang Chen 2014Journal of Plant Ecology2014,7,1:6
2Long- versus short-interval follow-up after resection of hepatocellular carcinoma: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background:Average postoperative follow-up intervals vary in patients undergoing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)resection because of limited evidence regarding the optimal interval.We aimed to compare the associations of long-versus short-interval follow-up with survival and recurrence in risk-stratified HCC patients.Methods:We performed a retrospective cohort study between 2007 and 2014.In total,1227 patients treated by curative resection of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage A or B HCC were stratified as having a low(n=865)or high(n=362)risk of early recurrence(within the first 2 years after resection)based on prognostic factors identified by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operation algorithm.Patients were further classified into long-interval(every 4-6 months)and short-interval(every 2-4 months)follow-up subgroups based on follow-up within 2 years after resection(low risk,long vs.short:n=390 vs.n=475;high-risk,long vs.short:n=149 vs.n=213).Results:The short-interval follow-up did not prolong overall survival in either the low-risk(hazard ratio[HR]=1.152;95%confidence interval[CI]0.720-1.843)or high-risk(HR=1.213;95%CI 0.702-2.094)patients.Early recurrence occurred in 401 patients.For high-risk patients,the short-interval follow-up subgroup exhibited smaller intrahepatic recurrence than did the long-interval group(2.6 vs.3.5 cm,respectively,P=0.045).However,no significant difference in the rate of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage 0/A recurrence was found between the long-and short-interval follow-up groups in either low-or high-risk patients(63.1%vs.68.2%,respectively,P=0.580;31.3%vs.41.5%,respec-tively,P=0.280).The rate of curative intent treatment for recurrence(34.5%vs.39.7%,respectively,P=0.430;14.6%vs.20.3%,respectively,P=0.388)was also similar between the follow-up groups for low-and high-risk patients.Conclusions:Shortening the postoperative follow-up interval from every 4-6 months to every 2-4 months within the first 2 years after resection did not increase the rate of curative intent treatment or prolong the overall survival of patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage A or B HCC.Wei He Yun Zheng Ruhai Zou Jingxian Shen Junping Yang Jiliang Qiu Qiang Tao Wenwu Liu Zhiwen Yang Yuanping Zhang Binkui Li Yunfei Yuan 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:2

5Influence of long-term different fertilization on soil weed seed bank diversity of a paddy soil under rice/rape rotation显示文摘A long-term fertilized paddy field under rice/rape rotation in the Taihu Lake Region was selected to investigate the dynamics of soil weed seed diversity.Four fertilizer treatments were performed,including non-fertilizer(NF),chemical fertilizer only(CF),chemical fertilizer combined with pig manure(CMF)and chemical fertilizer plus crop stalk(CSF).We recorded the seed numbers and crop yields,estimated the weed seed bank density and identified the kinds of weed seeds in the top-soil(0-15 cm)in the study area using a stereomicroscope.Based on the records,we analyzed the effect of long-term fertilization on soil weed seed bank diversity and the rela-tionship between weed seed diversity and crop yields.Comparing the four treatments,it was found that in the cultivating seasons of both rice and rape,the density of soil weed seed bank was the lowest with the treatment of chemical fertilizer plus crop stalk.Whereas,the total number of species and the weed seed bank diversity was the highest.Furthermore,the crop yields were at maximum and kept constant with this treatment.There was a definite correlation between fertilizer treatment and soil weed seed bank diversity and crop yields.It was concluded that balancing the fertilizer management was helpful in main-taining soil weed seed bank diversity,increasing crop yields and alleviating crop yield fluctuation.Therefore,among the four fertilizer treatments,chemical fertilizer plus rice crop stalk treatment was the best one to stimulate the productivity of agricultural ecosystems and simulta-neously protect biodiversity.Wei FENG Genxing PAN Sheng QIANG Ruhai LI Jiguang WEI 2008Frontiers in Biology2008,3,3:0
6Distribution and Controlling Factors of Dissolved Gaseous Mercury and Reactive Mercury in Seawater Near Yangtze River Estuary显示文摘Complex hydrocultural conditions in the estuary affect the migration and transformation of mercury.Using two voyages in July and October 2018,Dissolved Gaseous Mercury(DGM)and Reactive Mercury(RHg)were determined to explore the source,transformation and influence of DGM content in the adjacent waters of Yangtze River Estuary in summer and autumn.The results showed the contents of DGM and RHg in summer were higher than those in autumn,and both of them were higher than those in open sea.In summer and autumn,the Yangtze River brought a higher concentration of DGM,and different flow direction and runoff resulted in differences in the high value region of the surface.The emergence of low-oxygen zones in summer was conducive to the production of DGM.In autumn,windy weather allowed seawater disturbances to promote the release of mercury from the underlying sediments,especially in shallow sea in northwest.RHg showed a higher concentration in the offshore than in the open sea in summer,but there was no such trend in autumn,reflecting the influence of less runoff input.DGM is the main product of RHg reduction,and there was a significant positive correlation between DGM and RHg in summer(r=0.356,P<0.05),while the correlation between DGM and RHg was not significant in autumn due to the influence of light intensity,wind speed and nutrients.The exchange flux of mercury in the adjacent waters of the Yangtze River Estuary was higher than that in the open sea.There was no significant difference of the release flux of mercury in summer and autumn.This article highlighted that the input of mercury from the Yangtze River runoff promotes the release of mercury in seawater,and the hypoxic zone caused by eutrophication is conducive to the production of DGM.YIN Pingping ZHENG Wen WANG Yan LIU Ruhai HE Xin SUN Haolin LI Dou 2023Journal of Ocean University of China2023,22,5:0
