1How to use live sampling tissues and archived specimens in cetacean stable isotope research显示文摘Cetaceans are unique ecological engineers, and their restoration may have a crucial impact on the future structure of aquatic ecosystems, which calls for more investigations into their trophic ecology.Among current techniques, stable isotope analysis(SIA)has the advantages of non-invasive sampling and long timescales. However, the full benefits of SIA in cetacean research may not be achieved due to issues like different types of tissue between sampling methods and use of chemical preservation solutions in historical specimens. To address these challenges,we conducted a study on Narrow-ridged Finless Porpoises(Neophocaena asiaeorientalis).Multiple tissues from freshwater and marine subspecies,as well as tissues preserved using different solutions such as ethanol and formalin were collected for SIA.Linear mixed effects models were used for data analysis. Our results showed that, except for blubber, kidney, and stomach, differences between other tissues were correctable. In tissues from live sampling,we found no significant difference between blood and muscle, and skin could also be used for isotope analysis after proper correction.Ethanol preservation caused significant positive changes in δ^(13)C and δ^(15)N values of muscle, while formalin preservation caused negative changes in δ^(13)C and δ^(15)N.Our findings provide valuable insight into unifying data from stranded carcasses and live sampling,as well as correcting for the effect of chemical preservation on museum specimens.Findings from this research support further application of stable isotope analysis in the conservation of endangered finless porpoises, offer a reference for other similar cetaceans, and also provide guidance for chemical preservation when freezing conditions are not available.Tao Jin Ruilong Wang Renyong Wang Jiayi Xie Jinsong Zheng Fei Fan Kexiong Wang Ding Wang Jun Xu Zhigang Mei 2023Water Biology and Security2023,2,4:0
2Determination of Naringin Content in Rhizoma Drynariae by High Performance Liquid Chromatography显示文摘[Objectives]To accurately determine the naringin content in Rhizoma Drynariae.[Methods]The high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)method was applied in the determination of the naringin content in Rhizoma Drynariae. The sample was sonicated at room temperature. The mobile phase was 0.1%phosphoric acid-acetonitrile(75∶25),detected by diode array detector at the wavelength of 284 nm,and quantified by external standard method.[Results]The linearity of naringin was good in the concentration range of 5-500μg/mL with a correlation coefficient of 0.9999.[Conclusions]This method has good linearity, easy operation, correctness and reproducibility as required, and is expected to provide a method for the determination of naringin content in Rhizoma Drynariae.Huili GONG Guoxia DUAN Lijun LIU Ruilong XIE Shuo TANG Cuizhi LI Zhiyong LU 2022Asian Agricultural Research2022,14,10:0
3Evolution of clustered magnetic nulls in a turbulent-like reconnection region in the magnetotail显示文摘Magnetic null points and flux ropes play important roles in the three-dimensional process of magnetic reconnection. In this study, a cluster of null points are reconstructed in the reconnection region in the magnetotail by applying a fitting-reconstruction method to measurements from the Cluster mission. The number of reconstructed null points varies rapidly, presenting a turbulentlike evolution of the magnetic structure. The electron density and the flux of the accelerated electrons were enhanced in this turbulent-like region. During this unstable reconnection process, a B–As–B null structure was formed, showing flux rope features and resembling a secondary island in the observation.Ruilong Guo Zuyin Pu Suiyan Fu Lun Xie Malcolm Dunlop Yulia V.
