1Features of colorectal cancer in China stratified by anatomic sites:A hospital-based study conducted in university-affiliated hospitals from 2014 to 2018显示文摘Objective:The clinical and biological characteristics of colorectal cancer have been found to differ depending on the anatomic site of the cancer.However,for Chinese patients,there is limited information on the proportion of cases at each site and the related features.In this study,we explored the location,distribution and other features of colorectal cancers at each anatomic site in Chinese patients.Methods:We conducted a hospital-based study using hospitalization summary reports from 10 Peking University-affiliated hospitals from 2014 to 2018;the reports covered a total of 2,097,347 hospitalizations.Incident cases were chosen as the study population,and their epidemiological features were further analyzed.Results:A total of 20,739 colorectal cancer patients were identified.Rectum was the most common location(48.3%)of the cancer,whereas the proportions of patients with distal and proximal colon cancer were 24.5%and18.6%,respectively.Patients with rectal cancer were predominantly male and were the youngest for all anatomical sites(each P<0.001).The highest proportion of emergency admissions,the longest hospital stays and the highest hospitalization costs were found in patients with proximal colon cancer(each P<0.001).The proximal colon cancer subgroup included the highest proportions of patients with medical histories of cholecystectomy,cholecystolithiasis and/or gallbladder polyps and appendectomy(P=0.009,P<0.001 and P<0.001,respectively).The distal colon cancer subgroup included the highest proportions of patients with medical histories of diabetes and hypertension(P<0.001,respectively).Conclusions:The patterns of colorectal cancer observed in this study differ from those reported for Western patients and show a significantly higher proportion of patients with rectal cancer.Different epidemiological features were also found based on anatomic sites.Further studies based on tumor location should be conducted to facilitate more accurate screening and treatment.Ruize Qu Yanpeng Ma Liyuan Tao Xiaoyuan Bao Xin Zhou Bingyan Wang Fei Li Siyi Lu Lin Tuo Siyan Zhan Zhipeng Zhang Wei Fu 2021Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,4:10
2Task-related functional magnetic resonance imaging-based neuronavigation for the treatment of depression by individualized repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation of the visual cortex显示文摘To determine whether repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)of the visual cortex(VC)provides effective and welltolerated treatment and whether magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)measures functional change of the VC as a biomarker of therapeutic effect in major depressive disorder(MDD),we performed a sham-controlled,double-blind,randomized,three-arm VC rTMS treatment study in 74 MDD patients.Neuronavigated rTMS(10 Hz,90%of resting motor threshold,1,600 pulses over20 min twice per day)was performed over the VC for five days.Clinical outcome was measured by Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD-24)at days 0,1,3,5 and after terminating rTMS,with follow-up at four weeks.MRI was measured at days 0 and5.The individualized group exhibited the greatest change in HAMD-24 scores after VC rTMS for 5 days(F=5.53,P=0.005),which were maintained during follow-up period(F=4.22,P=0.016).All patients reported good tolerance.Changes in VC taskrelated functional MRI correlated with symptomatic reduction in the individualized group.Treatment reduced the initially abnormal increase in resting state functional connectivity from the VC to the pre/subgenual anterior cingulate cortex at day 5,especially in the individualized group.We demonstrated therapeutic potential and good tolerance of VC rTMS in MDD patients,indicated by biomarkers of f MRI measurement.Zhijun Zhang Hongxing Zhang Chun-Ming Xie Meng Zhang Yachen Shi Ruize Song Xiang Lu Haisan Zhang Kun Li Bi Wang Yongfeng Yang Xianrui Li Jianli Zhu Yang Zhao Ti-Fei Yuan Georg Northoff 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,1:8

4Comparing Land Degradation and Regeneration Trends in China Drylands显示文摘The aim of this paper is to offer a statistically sound method to make a precise account of the speed of land degradation and regeneration processes.Most common analyses of land degradation focus instead on the extent of degraded areas,rather than on the intensity of degradation processes.The study was implemented for the Potential Extent of Desertification in China(PEDC),composed by arid,semi-arid,and dry sub-humid regions and refers to the period 2002 to 2012.The metrics were standard partial regression coefficients from stepwise regressions,fitted using Net Primary Productivity as the dependent variable,and year number and aridity as predictors.The results indicate that:①the extension of degrading lands(292896 km 2 or 9.12%of PEDC)overcomes the area that is recovering(194560 km 2 or 6.06%of PEDC);and②the intensity of degrading trends is lower than that of increasing trends in three land cover types(grassland,desert,and crops)and in two aridity levels(semi-arid and dry sub-humid).Such an outcome might pinpoint restoration policies by the Chinese government,and document a possible case of hysteresis.Gabriel Del BARRIO Zhihai GAO Jaime Martinez-VALDERRAMA Xiaosong LI Maria ESANJUAN Bin SUN Alberto RUIZ Bengyu WANG Juan PUIGDEFABREGAS 2020Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2020,3,4:2
