| 2 | Evaluation of spermatogenesis and fertility in F1 male rats after in utero and neonatal exposure to extremely low frequency electromagnetic fields显示文摘Aim: To determine whether in utero and neonatal exposure to a 60Hz extremely low frequency electromagnetic field (EMF) results in spermatotoxicity and reproductive dysfunction in the F1 offspring of rats. Methods: Age-matched,pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed continuously (21h/day) to a 60 Hz EMF at field strengths of 0 (sham control), 5, 83.3 or 500 μT from day 6 of gestation through to day 21 of lactation. The experimentally generated magnetic field was monitored continuously (uninterrupted monitoring over the period of the study) throughout the study. Results: No exposure-related changes were found in exposed or sham-exposed animals with respect to the anogenital distance, preputial separation, testis weight, testicular histology, sperm count, daily sperm production, sperm motility, sperm morphology and reproductive capacity of F1 offspring. Conclusion: Exposure of Sprague-Dawley rats to a 60Hz EMF at field strengths of up to 500μT from day 6 of gestation to day 21 of lactation did not produce any detectable alterations in offspring spermatogenesis and fertility. | M.K.Chung S.J.Lee Y.B.Kim S.C.Park D.H.Shin S.H.Kim J.C.Kim | 2005 | Asian Journal of Andrology2005,7,2: | 5 |
| 3 | Effect of coating material and lubricant on forming force and surface defects in wire drawing process显示文摘A pilot wire drawing machine as well as wire end-pointing roller was developed. Using these machines, a wire drawing test for four different coating materials and two different lubricants was performed as the reduction ratio increased from 10% to 30%. Materials used for a substrate in this study are plain carbon steel (AISI1045) and ultra low carbon bainite steel. To compute the friction coefficient between the coating layer of wire and the surface of die for a specific lubricant, a series of finite element analyses were carried out. SEM observations were also conducted to investigate the surface defects of wire deformed. Results show that the behavior of drawing force varies with the lubricant-type at the initial stage of drawing. The powder-typed lubricant with a large particle causes the retardation of full lubrication on the entire contact surface and the local delamination of coating layer on the wire surface. As the flow stress of a substrate increases, the delamination becomes severe. | S.M.BYON S.J.LEE D.W.LEE Y.H.LEE Y.LEE | 2011 | Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China2011,21,A01: | 3 |
| 4 | The Effect of Non-equilibrium Condensation on the Drag Coefficient in a Transonic Airfoil Flow显示文摘In this study,a transonic flow past NACA0012 profile at angle of attack α=00 whose aspect ratio AR is 1.0 with non-equilibrium condensation is analyzed by numerical analysis using a TVD scheme and is investigated using an intermittent indraft type supersonic wind tunnel.Transonic flows of 0.78-0.90 in free stream Mach number with the variations of the stagnation relative humidity(Φ0)are tested. For the same free stream Mach number, the increase in Φ0 causes decrease in the drag coefficient of profile which is composed of the drag components of form, viscous and wave.In the case of the same M∞ and T0,for more than Φ0=30%,despite the irreversibility of process in non-equilibrium condensation, the drag by shock wave decreases considerably with the increase of Φ0.On the other hand,it shows that the effect of condensation on the drag coefficients of form and viscous is negligible. As an example, the decreasing rate in the drag coefficient of profile caused by the influence of non-equilibrium condensation for the case of M∞=0.9 and Φ0=50% amounts to 34%.Also,it were turned out that the size of supersonic bubble(that is,the maximum height of supersonic zone)and the deviation of pressure coefficient from the value for M=1 decrease with the increase of Φ0 for the same M∞. | I.W.Kim M.M.A.Alam S.J.Lee Y.D.Kwon S.B.Kwon | 2012 | Journal of Thermal Science2012,21,6: | 1 |

| 7 | Present Status of the KSTAR Superconducting Magnet System Development显示文摘The mission of Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) project is to develop an advanced steady-state superconducting tokamak for establishing a scientific and technological basis for an attractive fusion reactor. Because one of the KSTAR mission is to achieve a steady-state operation, the use of superconducting coils is an obvious choice for the magnet system. The KSTAR superconducting magnet system consists of 16 Toroidal Field (TF) coils and 14 Poloidal Field (PF) coils. Internally-cooled Cable-In-Conduit Conductors (CICC) are put into use in both the TF and PF coil systems. The TF coil system provides a field of 3.5 T at the plasma center and the PF coil system is able to provide a flux swing of 17 V-sec. The major achievement in KSTAR magnet-system development includes the development of CICC,the development of a full-size TF model coil, the development of a coil system for background magnetic-field generation , the construction of a large-scale superconducting magnet and CICC test facility. TF and PF coils are in the stage of fabrication to pave the way for the scheduled completion of KSTAR by the end of 2006. | Keeman Kim H.K.Park K.R.Park B.S.Lim S.I.Lee M.K.Kim Y.Chu W.H.Chung S.H.Baek J.Y.Cho H.Yonekawa A.Chertovskikh Y.B.Chang J.S.Kim C.S.Kim D.J.Kim N.H.Song K.P.Kim Y.J.Song I.S.Woo W.S.Han D.K.Lee Y.K.Oh K.W.Cho J.S.Park G.S.Lee H.J.Lee T.K.Ko S.J.Lee | 2004 | Plasma Science and Technology2004,6,5: | 0 |
