1Potential applications of synchrotron radiation to the treatment of cancer显示文摘Although conventional radiotherapy remains to be one of the most useful treatments for cancer, it is not the best strategy to maximize the effects on the tumors and minimize the damage to the surrounding tissues due to its physical and biological characteristics. Synchrotron radiation (SR) with uniquely physical and biological advantages may represent an innovative approach for cancer treatment. In recent years, SR-based photon activation therapy, stereotactic synchrotron radiation therapy and micro-beam radiation treatment have been developed, and the results of in vitro and in vivo experiments are very promising. It is necessary to understand the physical and radiobiological principle of those novel strategies before the approach is applied to the clinic. In this paper, we summarize the advances of SR in terms of physical, radiobiological advantages and its potential clinical applications. 3Attenuation mechanism of Brucella melitensis M5-10,implications for vaccine development and differential diagnosis显示文摘Brucellosis is a worldwide zoonosis.Vaccination is the most efficient means to prevent and control brucellosis.The current licensed attenuated vaccines for animal use were developed by sequential passage in nonnatural hosts that decreased virulence in its original hosts.The attenuation mechanism of these strains remains largely unknown.In the present study,we sequenced the genome of Brucella melitensis vaccine strain M5-10.Sequence analysis showed that a large number of genetic changes occurred in the vaccine strains.A total of 2854 genetic polymorphic sites,including 2548 SNP,241 INDEL and 65 MNV were identified.Of the 2074 SNPs in coding regions,1310(63.2%)were non-synonymous SNPs.Gene number,percent and N/S ratios were disproportionally distributed among the cog categories.Genetic polymorphic sites were identified in genes of the virB operon,flagella synthesis,and virulence regulating systems.These data indicate that changes in some cog categories and virulence genes might result in the attenuation.These attenuation mechanisms also have implications for screening and development of new vaccine strains.The genetic changes in the genome represent candidate sites for differential diagnosis between these vaccine strains and other virulence ones.Transcription analysis of virulence genes showed that expression of dnaK,vjbR were reduced in M5-10 strain when compared with that in 16M.A duplex PCR targeting virB6 and dnaK was successfully used to differentiate between M5-10 and the virulent 16M strain.The genome re-sequencing technique represents a strong strategy not only for evaluation of vaccines,but also for development of new vaccines.Yuanqiang ZHENG Yanchun SHI Chang AN Ruisheng LI Dongjun LIU Yuehua KE Kairong MAO Mingjuan YANG Zeliang CHEN Shorgan BOU 2014Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2014,1,4:0
4A preliminary clinic dosimetry study for synchrotron radiation therapy at SSRF显示文摘Synchrotron radiation(SR)represents a unique and innovative anti-cancer treatment due to its unique physical features,including high flux density,and tunable and collimated radiation generation.The aim of this work is to assess the dosimetric properties of SR in Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF)for potential applications to clinical radiation oncology.The experiments were performed with 34 and 50 keV X-rays on the BL13W biomedical beamline of SSRF and the 6 MV X-rays from ARTISTE linac for the dosimetry study.The percentage depth dose(PDD)and the surface dose of the SR X-rays and the 6 MV photon beams were performed in solid water phantom with Gafchromic EBT3 films.All curves are normalized to the maximum calculated dose.The depth of full dose buildup is about 10μm deeper for the monoenergetic X-ray beams of 34 and 50 keV.The beam transmits through the phantom,with a linear attenuation coefficient.The profile in the horizontal plane shows that the dose distribution is uniform within the facula,while the vertical profile shows a Gaussian distribution of the dose.The penumbra is less than 0.2 mm in the horizontal profile.Gafchromic EBT film may be a useful and convenient tool for dose measurement and quality control for the high space and density resolution.It is therefore important to gain a thorough understanding about the physical features of SR before this novel technology can be applied to clinical practice.LI Zhaobin SHI Zeliang ZHANG Qing WANG Yong FU Shen 2013Nuclear Science and Techniques2013,24,6:0
5Manipulating high-temperature superconductivity by oxygen doping in Bi_(2)Sr_(2)CaCu_(2)O_(8)+δ thin flakes显示文摘Harnessing the fascinating properties of correlated oxides requires precise control of their carrier density.Compared to other methods,oxygen doping provides an effective and more direct way to tune the electronic properties of correlated oxides.Although several approaches,such as thermal annealing and oxygen migration,have been introduced to change the oxygen content,a continuous and reversible solution that can be integrated with modern electronic technology is much in demand.Here,we report a novel ionic field-effect transistor using solid Gd-doped CeO_(2)as the gate dielectric,which shows a remarkable carrier-density-tuning ability via electric-field-controlled oxygen concentration at room temperature.In Bi_(2)Sr_(2)CaCu_(2)O_(8+δ))thin flakes,we achieve a reversible superconductor–insulator transition by driving oxygen ions in and out of the samples with electric fields,and map out the phase diagram all the way from the insulating regime to the over-doped superconducting regime by continuously changing the oxygen doping level.Scaling analysis indicates that the reversible superconductor–insulator transition for the Bi-2212 thin flakes follows the theoretical description of a two-dimensional quantum phase transition.Our work provides a route for realizing electric-field control of phase transition in correlated oxides.Moreover,the configuration of this type of transistor makes heterostructure/interface engineering possible,thus having the potential to serve as the next-generation all-solid-state field-effect transistor.Bin Lei Donghui Ma Shihao Liu Zeliang Sun Mengzhu Shi Weizhuang Zhuo Fanghang Yu Genda Gu Zhenyu Wang Xianhui Chen 2022National Science Review2022,9,10:0
