| 4 | Uncertainty of soil erosion modelling using open source high resolution and aggregated DEMs显示文摘Digital Elevation Model(DEM) is one of the important parameters for soil erosion assessment.Notable uncertainties are observed in this study while using three high resolution open source DEMs.The Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation(RUSLE) model has been applied to analysis the assessment of soil erosion uncertainty using open source DEMs(SRTM,ASTER and CARTOSAT) and their increasing grid space(pixel size) from the actual.The study area is a part of the Narmada river basin in Madhya Pradesh state,which is located in the central part of India and the area covered 20.558 km^2.The actual resolution of DEMs is 30 m and their increasing grid spaces are taken as 90,150,210.270 and 330 m for this study.Vertical accuracy of DEMs has been assessed using actual heights of the sample points that have been taken considering planimetric survey based map(toposheet).Elevations of DEMs are converted to the same vertical datum from WGS 84 to MSL(Mean Sea Level),before the accuracy assessment and modelling.Results indicate that the accuracy of the SRTM DEM with the RMSE of 13.31,14.51,and 18.19 m in 30,150 and 330 m resolution respectively,is better than the ASTER and the CARTOSAT DEMs.When the grid space of the DEMs increases,the accuracy of the elevation and calculated soil erosion decreases.This study presents a potential uncertainty introduced by open source high resolution DEMs in the accuracy of the soil erosion assessment models.The research provides an analysis of errors in selecting DEMs using the original and increased grid space for soil erosion modelling. | Arun Mondal Deepak Khare Sananda Kundu Sandip Mukherjee Anirban Mukhopadhyay Surajit Mondal | 2017 | Geoscience Frontiers2017,8,3: | 1 |
| 5 | Folic acid protects against fluoride-induced oxidative stress and testicular damage in rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effects of folic acid on testicular oxidative damage in sodium fluoride-induced male Wistar rats.Methods:A total of 24 male Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups:the control,sodium fluoride(fed with 100 mg/L sodium fluoride through drinking water orally for 21 days),folic acid(36μg/kg body weight/day,orally),and sodium fluoride plus folic acid(received similar dose orally)groups.At the end of 21 days,epididymal sperm parameters,biochemical analysis of testicular tissue,and serum hormonal levels were performed along with histopathological studies.Results:Sodium fluoride intoxication resulted in marked reduction in gonado somatic index,serum luteinizing hormone,and testosterone level along with 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase activities.In addition,reduction in sperm density,as well as loss of sperm motility and sperm viability,were also observed.Besides,increased levels of testicular malondialdehyde,nitrite,interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α as well as decreased levels of superoxide dismutase and catalase activities and reduced glutathione content were found to be associated with this toxicity.Folic acid co-treatment,on the other hand,could prevent all the sodium fluoride-induced testicular pathophysiology and oxidative stress related parameters.Histological examinations of testicular sections from the experimental rats supported these results.Conclusions:Combining all,this study suggests that being an antioxidant,folic acid plays a beneficial role against fluoride-induced adverse effects on the male reproductive system. | Ray Dibyendu Chatterjee Tiasa Monalisha Das Panda Pradip Mukherjee Sandip | 2021 | Asian pacific Journal of Reproduction2021,10,6: | 0 |
| 6 | Effect of metal fractions on rice grain metal uptake and biological parameters in mica mines waste contaminated soils显示文摘Heavy metals from mica waste not only deteriorate the soil quality but also results in the uptake of metals in the crop.The present investigation was conducted to evaluate the effects of different fractions of metals on the uptake in rice,soil microbial and biochemical properties in mica waste-contaminated soils of Jharkhand,India.From each active mine,soil samples were randomly collected at distances of<50 m(zone 1),50–100 m(zone 2),and>100 m(zone 3).Sequential metal extraction was used to determine the fractions of different metals(nickel(Ni),cadmium(Cd),chromium(Cr)and lead(Pb))including water-soluble(Ws)and exchangeable metals(Ex),carbonate-bound metals(CBD),Fe/Mn oxide(OXD)bound metals,organically bound metals(ORG),and residues(RS).The Ni,Cr,Cd and Pb in rice grain were 0.83±0.41,0.41±0.19,0.21±0.14 and 0.17±0.08 mg/kg respectively.From the variable importance plot of the random forest(RF)algorithm,the Ws fraction of Ni,Cr and Cd and Ex fraction of Pb was the most important predictor for rice grain metal content.Further,the partial dependence plots(PDP)give us an insight into the role of the two most important metal fractions on rice grain metal content.The microbial and enzyme activity was significantly and negatively correlated with Ws and Ex metal fractions,indicating that water-soluble and exchangeable fractions exert a strong inhibitory effect on the soil microbiological parameters and enzyme activities. | Saibal Ghosh Sandip Mondal Jajati Mandal Abhishek Mukherjee Pradip Bhattacharyya | 2024 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,2: | 0 |
