| 1 | The application of large volume airgun sources to the onshore-offshore seismic surveys: implication of the experimental results in northern South China Sea显示文摘Onshore-offshore seismic experiments were carried out for the first time in northern South China Sea using large volume airgun sources at sea and seismic stations on land. The experimental results indicate that seismic signals from the new airgun array of R/V Shiyan 2 can be detected as far as 255 km. The signal effective area reaches nearly 50000 km2, which covers Hong Kong and Pearl River Delta. Compared with the old airgun array, the signal amplitude, propagation distance and effective area of the new airgun array have been increased notably, which demonstrates that the upgrade of the airgun source was successful. Comparisons with previous experimental results in other regions show that the shooting effect of the new airgun array is similar to those best airgun sources in the world. | 3 | Major advances in studies of the physical geography and living environment of China during the past 70 years and future prospects显示文摘The natural environment provides material essentials for human survival and development. The characteristics,processes, regional differentiation and forcing mechanisms of the elements of the natural environment(e.g. geomorphology,climate, hydrology, soil, etc.) are the main objects of research in physical geography. China has a complex natural environment and huge regional differentiation and therefore it provides outstanding reserach opportunities in physical geography. This review summarizes the most important developments and the main contributions of research in the physical geography and human living environment in China during the past 70 years. The major topics addressed are the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau and the evolution of its cryosphere, the development of fluvial systems, the acidification of the vast arid region of the Asian interior, variations in the monsoon and westerly climate systems on multiple timescales, the development of lakes and wetlands, the watershed system model, soil erosion, past human-environment interactions, biogeography, and physical geographic zonality. After briefly introducing international research developments, we review the history of research in physical geography in China, focusing on the major achievements and major academic debates, and finally we summarize the status of current research and the future prospects. | 4 | Primary resistance to crizotinib treatment in a non-small cell lung cancer patient with an EML4-ALK rearrangement:a case report显示文摘Crizotinib,a small molecular tyrosine kinase inhibitor,manifests dramatic responses in patients with non-small cell lung cancer with echinoderm microtubule associated protein like 4-anaplastic lymphoma kinase(EML4-ALK)rearrangements.ALK gene point mutation is the primary mechanism of acquired crizotinib resistance;however,the intrinsic mechanism is not fully understood.Here,we report a patient with a low mutant allele fraction(MAF)of EML4-ALK rearrangement,who experienced primary resistance to crizotinib treatment.The patient was a 66-year-old Chinese man,who had a history of metastatic lung cancer and was treated with first-and third-generation epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors(EGFR TKIs).After 14 months of osimertinib treatment,his disease progressed,and next-generation sequencing was performed from a liquid biopsy of the patient’s blood.An EML4-ALK rearrangement was found and crizotinib was administered.The patient’s lung lesions continued to progress after one month of crizotinib treatment,and pemetrexed-bevacizumab was initiated.After two cycles of chemotherapy,the metastatic cancers shrunk,and the patient maintained stable disease at his last follow-up.EML4-ALK rearrangements can happen in patients with EGFR-positive NSCLC,after acquired resistance to EGFR TKI treatment.The EGFR T790M and C797G mutations occur in cis is a critical mechanism of resistance to osimertinib therapy.The MAF of EML4-ALK rearrangements in cancer cells might be a predictive factor for crizotinib treatment. | Ling Zhang Yunxia Li Shaohong Zhang Chen Gao Keke Nie Youxin Ji | 2018 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2018,15,2: | 5 |
| 5 | Effects of Huatan Tongluo decoction on vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 expression in synovial tissues of rats with collagen-induced arthritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To determine the therapeutic effect and potential mechanism of Huatan Tongluo decoction on rats with collagen-induced arthritis.METHODS: Forty specific pathogen-free Wistar rats were selected, and 10 were randomly selected as the control(group 1). The remaining rats were injected intradermally with emulsified type Ⅱ bovine collagen at the tail base and back, followed by a booster 7 d post first immunization. After establishing collagen-induced arthritis(CIA), rats were randomly divided into three groups(n = 10). The rats were treated orally for 30 d as follows: group 1, saline; group 2, model(saline); group 3, tripterygium polyglycoside(TP; 7.81 mg/kg, positive control);group 4, Huatan Tongluo decoction(HTTL; 7.5 g/kg). Body weight, ankle swelling and arthritis index were measured over the course of the study. The rats were sacrificed 30 d after treatment. Morphological changes in the synovium were observed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. Pannus formation and synovial thickness in the left ankle were observed by color Doppler ultrasoundVascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and VEGFR2 protein levels were measured by immunohistochemistry.VEGF/VEGFR2 mRNA levels were measured by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS: Compared with the model group, a significantly lower arthritis index was observed in the positive control group(P < 0.05) and HTTL group(P < 0.01), after treatment. Both positive control and HTTL reduced intra-articular pannus formation and synovial thickening. | 8 | Small RNAs in regulating temperature stress response in plants显示文摘Due to global climate change, temperature stress has become one of the primary causes of crop losses worldwide. Much progress has been made in unraveling the complex stress response mechanisms in plants, particularly in the identification of temperature stress responsive protein-coding genes. Recently discovered micro RNAs(mi RNAs) and endogenous small-interfering RNAs(si RNAs) have also been demonstrated as simportant players in plant temperature stress response.Using high-throughput sequencing, many small RNAs,especially mi RNAs, have been identified to be triggered by cold or heat. Subsequently, several studies have shown an important functional role for these small RNAs in cold or heat tolerance. These findings greatly broaden our understanding of endogenous small RNAs in plant stress response control. Here, we highlight new findings regarding the roles of mi RNAs and si RNAs in plant temperature stress response and acclimation. | 9 | Effects of a combination of Japanese Raisin Tree Seed and Flower of Lobed Kudzuvine against acute alcohol-induced liver injury in mice显示文摘Objective:The Flower of Lobed Kudzuvine[Pueraria lobata(Willd.)Ohwi;Gehua in Chinese;GH]and Japanese Raisin Tree Seed(Hovenia dulcis Thunnb.;Zhijuzi in Chinese;ZJZ)are herbs that have been used in China for the treatment of alcohol intoxication and liver diseases.We aimed to evaluate the hepatoprotective potential of a combination of these in mice with acute alcohol-induced liver injury,and to elucidate the mechanisms involved.Methods:Male ICR mice were randomly allocated to six groups:a control group,an alcohol-administered group,and groups that were administered alcohol and one of silibinin,the GH,the ZJZ or a GH-ZJZ combination(at a ratio of 2:1).Animals were orally administered 56%alcohol(Er Guo-tou white spirit,0.12 mL/10 g/d)for 10 days and at the end of this period,hepatic biochemical indicators,antioxidant parameters,alcohol metabolic enzymes,and histopathologic changes were evaluated.Moreover,the expression of the signaling molecules KEAP1,NRF2,and AQP9 were measured by qRT-PCR and western blotting.Results:Compared with the model group,GH-ZJZ(2:1)had lower serum ALT(12.15±0.39,P紏.003),AST(104.07±1.03,P紏.001),and ALP(148.09±2.55,P紏.010)activities,and lower TC(1.97±0.05,P紏.001)and TG(1.54±0.07,P?.002)concentrations.GH-ZJZ(2:1)also significantly increased the hepatic activities of SOD and GSH(4.24±0.25 and 1.57±0.06,respectively;both P<.01),reduced the ROS and MDA concentrations(97.50±3.00 and 2.39±0.19,respectively;both P<.01),and upregulated Nrf2 expression(P<.01).GH-ZJZ(2:1)significantly reduced the expression of KEAP1 and AQP9 in the liver,compared with alcohol-administered mice(P<.01).Importantly,the GH-ZJZ combination caused a more marked improvement in acute liver injury than GH or ZJZ alone.Conclusion:We have demonstrated protective effects of GH-ZJZ(2:1)against acute alcohol-induced hepatic injury,and shown that these effects may be associated with improvements in lipid and alcohol metabolism,antioxidant capacity,and lipid peroxidation. | Wan Xu Shaohong Chen Gansheng Zhong Haiyan Liu Linlin Xiu Xue Yu Feng Chen Na Li Yanmin Lv | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2020,7,1: | 2 |

| 18 | Spatial Variations of b-Values in the Coastal Area of Guangdong显示文摘We used earthquake catalogs recorded by Guangdong Seismological Network from 2008 to 2014 to resolve the spatial variations of b-values in the coastal area of Guangdong, particularly in three key research areas(Yangjiang, Heyuan, and offshore Nanao Island) with strong seismicity. Our results revealed that b-values exhibited significant spatial variations, and zones with low b-values could indicate the most likely seismogenic area of large earthquakes. We observed three clear low b-value patches in the offshore Nanao Island. We found a distinct high b-value peak at the depth of 11 km and two minimum peaks at about 14 and 7–8 km in the Yangjiang area. The overall b-values generally decrease with depth in the Heyuan area. The spatial variations of b-values reflect tectonic anomalies; that is, the ‘low-high-low' distribution of b-values in the offshore Nanao Island and the Yangjiang area may indicate the anomaly of the crustal structure with a weak layer. The b-values of reservoir-induced seismicity are obviously lower than that induced by tectonism. This finding indicates that the reservoir area is generally at high stress state under the condition of high pore pressure. We inferred that large earthquakes might be prone to occur at 10–12 km depth in the offshore Nanao Island, at 12–15 km depth in the Yangjiang area, and at the lower part of the seismic activity zone in the Heyuan area.
