| 4 | Gene body demethylation increases expression and is associated with self-pruning during grape genome duplication显示文摘A colchicine-induced autotetraploid grapevine exhibiting potentially valuable agronomic traits for grape production and breeding,including self-pruning,was identified.This study investigated DNA methylation variation and its role in gene expression during self-pruning in the autotetraploid grapevine.We used RNA-Seq to estimate differentially expressed genes between diploid and autotetraploid grapevine shoot tips.The genes showing increases in the autotetraploid were mainly related to stress response pathways,whereas those showing decreases in the autotetraploid were related to biological metabolism and biosynthesis.Whole-genome bisulfite sequencing was performed to produce single-base methylomes for the diploid and autotetraploid grapevines.Comparison between the methylomes revealed that they were conserved in CG and CHG contexts.In the autotetraploid grapevine,hypodifferentially methylated regions(DMRs)and hyper-DMRs in the gene body increased or decreased gene expression,respectively.Our results indicated that a hypo-DMR in the ACO1 gene body increased its expression and might promote self-pruning.This study reports that hypo-DMRs in the gene body increase gene expression in plants and reveals the mechanism underlying the changes in the modifications affecting gene expression during genome duplication.Overall,our results provide valuable information for understanding the relationships between DNA methylation,gene expression,and autotetraploid breeding in grape. | Luming Zou Wenwen Liu Zhan Zhang Everard J.Edwards Elias Kirabi Gathunga Peige Fan Wei Duan Shaohua Li Zhenchang Liang | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 1 |
| 5 | Excess capacity on compound phases of Li_(2)FeTiO_(4) composite cathode materials synthesized by hydrothermal reaction using optional titanium sources to boost battery performance显示文摘Li_(2)FeTiO_(4) composites have been produced using commercial LiAC,FeCl_(2) and different titanium sources by hydrothermal synthesis(HS)at 175℃and subsequent annealing at 700℃.Impure phase TiO_(2),Fe_(2)O_(3) and FeTi0_(4) were detected out among the Li_(2)FeTiO_(4) composites with different titanium sources.Micron and nano-sized particles of Li2FeTiO4 were prepared from various titanium raw materials,with nano-sized particles predominating when titanium raw materials were layered hydrogen titanate nanowire(H2Ti3O7 NW,HTO-NW)and titanium oxide nanotubes(TiO_(2) NB).The Li_(2)FeTiO_(4) composites synthesized by HTO-NW shows a primary particle size of 50-200 nm of high crystallinity staggered with undissolved nanowire with a diameter size of about 100 nm.The samples using one-dimensio nal nanometer titanium oxide(TiO2 NB)as the raw material can get a super high initial discharge capacity of 367.8 mAh/g at the rate of C/10 and excellent cycling stability.The selection of raw materials and adopting multi-phase modification can be considered as an effective strategy to improve the electro-chemical properties of Li_(2)FeTiO_(4) composite cathode materials for the lithium secondary battery. | Liu Yang Shaohua Luo Yafeng Wang Yang Zhan Qing Wang Yahui Zhang Xin Liu Wenning Mu Fei Teng | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,12: | 0 |
| 6 | State familism in action:aging policy and intergenerational support in Singapore显示文摘Singapore started to tackle the challenges of an aging society in the 1980s after its fertility declined to sub-replacement levels.A core component of the city-state’s aging policy is to foster intergenerational support,which is based on the value of filial piety,harmonious intergenerational relations,and the elderly as a resource.This paper introduces the concept of state familism to capture Singapore’s comprehensive efforts to strengthen the role of the family in old-age support while promoting mutual assistance across generations.The relevant policies range from the Central Provident Fund,housing,taxation,to old-age support packages.These efforts distinguish Singapore from other Asian countries where the role of the family is sometimes stressed more in rhetoric than in action.State familism in Singapore has drawn criticisms as it is perceived as an attempt to reduce the government’s responsibility.In the recent decade,the Singapore state significantly increased direct financial support for the elderly while keeping the policy of fostering intergenerational support in place.The paper concludes by discussing the implications of Singapore’s state familism for China and other countries. | Shaohua Zhan Lingli Huang | 2023 | China Population and Development Studies2023,7,2: | 0 |
