| 1 | Metformin induces ferroptosis by targeting miR-324-3p/GPX4 axis in breast cancer显示文摘Metformin is a widely prescribed hypoglycemic drug.Many studies have shown its anti-cancer properties.In the present study,we aimed to explore the effect of metformin on breast cancer and clarify the underlying mechanism.Our results showed that metformin induced ferroptosis in MDA-MB-231 cells through upregulating miR-324-3p expression.Overexpression of miR-324-3p inhibited cancer cell viability.miR-324-3p inhibitor promoted cell viability.Further studies showed that the effect of miR-324-3p was mediated by directly targeting glutathione peroxidase 4(GPX4).miR-324-3p bound to the 3ʹ-UTR of GPX4 and led to the downregulation of GPX4.In vivo studies showed that metformin induced ferroptosis by upregulating miR-324-3p in the xenograft model of breast cancer in mice.Our study suggested that metformin promotes ferroptosis of breast cancer by targeting the miR-324-3p/GPX4 axis.Metformin could act as a potential anti-cancer agent through the induction of ferroptosis. | Yifeng Hou Shuang Cai Shouyang Yu Hui Lin | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,3: | 11 |
| 2 | Adsorption of mercury on laterite from Guizhou Province,China显示文摘The adsorption behaviors of Hg(Ⅱ) on laterite from Guizhou Province,China,were studied and the adsorption mechanism was discussed.The results showed that different mineral compositons in the laterite will cause differences in the adsorption capacity of laterite to Hg(Ⅱ).Illite and non-crystalloids are the main contributors to enhancing the adsorption capacity of laterite to Hg(Ⅱ).The pH of the solution is an important factor affecting the adsorption of Hg(Ⅱ) on laterite.The alkalescent environment (pH 7-9) is favorable to the adsorption of Hg(Ⅱ).The amount of adsorbed Hg(Ⅱ) increases with increasing pH.When the pH reaches a certain value,the amount of the adsorbed Hg(Ⅱ) will reach the maximum level.The amount of adsorbed Hg(Ⅱ) decreases with increasing pH.The optimal pHs of laterite and kaolinite are 9 and 8,respectively.The optimal initial concentrations of Hg(Ⅱ) on laterite and kaolinite are 250 and 200 μg/ml,respectively.The adsorption isotherms were described by the Langmuir model.The adsorption of Hg(Ⅱ) on laterite is a quick process while that of Hg(Ⅱ) on kaolinite is a slow reaction.Laterite from Guizhou Province is a promising environmental material which can be used in the removal of Hg(Ⅱ) from wastewater. | Xiaohong YU Shouyang HE | 2008 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2008,20,11: | 6 |
| 3 | FORECASTING CHINA'S FOREIGN TRADE VOLUME WITH A KERNEL-BASED HYBRID ECONOMETRIC-AI ENSEMBLE LEARNING APPROACH显示文摘Due to the complexity of economic system and the interactive effects between all kinds of economic variables and foreign trade, it is not easy to predict foreign trade volume. However, the difficulty in predicting foreign trade volume is usually attributed to the limitation of many conventional forecasting models. To improve the prediction performance, the study proposes a novel kernel-based ensemble learning approach hybridizing econometric models and artificial intelligence (AI) models to predict China's foreign trade volume. In the proposed approach, an important econometric model, the co-integration-based error correction vector auto-regression (EC-VAR) model is first used to capture the impacts of all kinds of economic variables on Chinese foreign trade from a multivariate linear anal- ysis perspective. Then an artificial neural network (ANN) based EC-VAR model is used to capture the nonlinear effects of economic variables on foreign trade from the nonlinear viewpoint. Subsequently, for incorporating the effects of irregular events on foreign trade, the text mining and expert's judgmental adjustments are also integrated into the nonlinear ANN-based EC-VAR model. Finally, all kinds of economic variables, the outputs of linear and nonlinear EC-VAR models and judgmental adjustment model are used as input variables of a typical kernel-based support vector regression (SVR) for en- semble prediction purpose. For illustration, the proposed kernel-based ensemble learning methodology hybridizing econometric techniques and AI methods is applied to China's foreign trade volume predic- tion problem. | 4 | The geochemical characteristics of aqueous rare-earth elements in shallow karst groundwater in Guiyang City, China显示文摘Fifty-seven shallow groundwater samples were collected from Guiyang karst basin, China, to analyze the aqueous rare-earth elements in low-water seasons and it is shown that the total amount of rare-earth elements (ΣREE) in karst groundwater is exceedingly low compared with that in carbonate rocks or weathering crusts of carbonate rocks, and ranges from 0.01 to 0.43, from 0.03 to 0.27, from 0.03 to 0.19 and from 0.05 to 1.38 μg·L-1 for dolomite, dolomitic & limestone, limestone and clastic rock aquifer, respectively. Both distributions and contents of rare-earth elements (REE) in karst groundwater reflect the lithology of host rocks or weathering crusts of carbonate rocks through which groundwater flows. The chondrite-normalized patterns show a non-flat profile with higher enrichment of slightly light rare-earth elements (LREE) than heavy rare-earth elements (HREE), prominent fractionation between LREE and HREE, negative Ce anomalies and negative or positive Eu anomalies. There is more obvious fractionation between LREE and HREE in groundwater than that in carbonate rocks and their weathering crusts due to high contents of HCO3? and PH in groundwater. In shallow karst groundwater, REE(CO3)n2n-3 (n=1 and 2) is the main inorganic species of REE. But for a clastic rock aquifer, both REESO4+ and REECO3+ are the main inorganic species of REE. | 5 | A study on the adsorption of chromium on laterite from Guizhou Province,China显示文摘The adsorption behaviors of Cr(VI) on laterite from Guizhou Province were studied in this paper, and the adsorption mechanism was discussed as well. Results showed that different mineral compositions in the laterite would cause differences in the capacity of laterite to absorb Cr(VI). Gibbsite, iron oxide minerals and non-crystalloids are the main contributors to enhancing the capacity of laterite to absorb Cr(VI). The pH of the solution is an important factor affecting the adsorption of Cr(VI) on laterite. Acidic environment (pH=2-5) is favorable to the adsorption of Cr(VI). The amount of adsorbed Cr(VI) decreases with increasing pH of the solution. With increasing initial concentrations of Cr(VI), the amount of adsorbed Cr(VI) increases first, and then decreases. The optimal adsorption concentration of Cr(VI) on laterite is 250 μg/mL. The adsorption of Cr(VI) on laterite is a rapid process, about 80% Cr(VI) will be adsorbed within 2 hours. Findings and what other companies can learn from this study are as follows. Firstly, companies, be it leaders or not, can act as enablers for other party’s business model innovation. Secondly, companies can enable each other’s business model innovation by taking the perspective of business model co-evolution; Thirdly, the interdependence of the business model co-evolution process can be explained by the four levers named novelty, lock-in,complementarity and efficiency.
