1Soil physical properties and maize root growth under different tillage systems in the North China Plain显示文摘The standard cultivation system in the North China Plain is double cropping of winter wheat and summer maize. The main effects of this cultivation system on root development and yield are decreases in soil nutrient content and depth of the plow layer under either long-term no-tillage or rotary tillage before winter wheat sowing and no tillage before summer maize sowing. In this study, we investigated the combined effects of tillage practices before winter wheat and summer maize sowing on soil properties and root growth and distribution in summer maize. Zhengdan 958(ZD958) was used as experimental material, with three tillage treatments: rotary tillage before winter wheat sowing and no tillage before summer maize sowing(RTW + NTM), moldboard plowing before winter wheat sowing and no tillage before summer maize sowing(MPW + NTM), and moldboard plowing before winter wheat sowing and rotary tillage before summer maize sowing(MPW + RTM).Tillage practice showed a significant(P < 0.05) effect on grain yield of summer maize. Grain yields under MPW + RTM and MPW + NTM were 30.6% and 24.0% higher, respectively, than that under RTW + NTM. Soil bulk density and soil penetration resistance decreased among tillage systems in the order RTW + NTM > MPW + NTM > MPW + RTM. Soil bulk densities were 3.3% and 515% lower in MPW + NTM and MPW + RTM, respectively, than that in RTW + NTM, and soil penetration resistances were respectively 17.8% and 20.4% lower,across growth stages and soil depths. Root dry matter and root length density were highest under MPW + RTM, with the resulting increased root activity leading to a yield increase of summer maize. 2The Epitope Study on the SARS-CoV Nucleocapsid Protein显示文摘The nucleocapsid protein (N protein) has been found to be an antigenic protein in a number of coronaviruses. Whether the N protein in severe acute respiratory syndrome-associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV) is antigenic remains to be elucidated. Using Western blot and Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA),the recombinant N proteins and the synthesized peptides derived from the N protein were screened in sera from SARS patients. All patient sera in this study displayed strong positive immunoreactivities against the recombinant N proteins,whereas normal sera gave negative immunoresponses to these proteins, indicating that the N protein of SARS-CoV is an antigenic protein. Furthermore, the epitope sites in the N protein were determined by competition experiments, in which the recombinant proteins or the synthesized peptides competed against the SARS-CoV proteins to bind to the antibodies raised in SARS sera. One epitope site located at the C-terminus was confirmed as the most antigenic region in this protein. A detailed screening of peptide with ELISA demonstrated that the amino sequence from Codons 371 to 407 was the epitope site at the C-terminus of the N protein. 4A Virulent PEDV Strain FJzz1 with Genomic Mutations and Deletions at the High Passage Level Was Attenuated in Piglets via Serial Passage In Vitro显示文摘Highly virulent porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV)strains re-emerged and circulated in China at the end of 2010,causing significant economic losses in the pork industry worldwide.To understand the genetic dynamics of PEDV during its passage in vitro,the PEDV G2 strain FJzzl was serially propagated in Vero cells for up to 200 passages.The susceptibility and adaptability of the FJzzl strain increased gradually as it was serially passaged in vitro.Sequence analysis revealed that amino acid(aa)changes were mainly concentrated in the S glycoprotein,which accounted for 72.22%-85.71%of all aa changes.A continuous aa deletion(^(55)I^(56)G^(57)E→^(55)K^(56)Δ^(57)Δ)occurred in the N-terminal domain of S1(Sl-NTD).To examine how the aa changes affected its virulence,FJzzl-F20 and FJzzl-F200 were selected to simultaneously evaluate their pathogenicity in suckling piglets.All the piglets in the FJzzl-F20-infected group showed typical diarrhea at 24 h postinfection,and the piglets died successively by 48 h postinfection.However,the clinical signs of the piglets in the FJzzl-F200-infected group were significantly weaker,and no deaths occurred.The FJzzl-F200-infected group also showed a lower level of fecal viral shedding and lower viral loads in the intestinal tissues,and no obvious histopathological lesions.TypeⅠandⅢinterferon were induced in the FJzzl-F200 infection group,together with pro-inflammatory cytokines,such as TNF-α,IL-1βand IL-8.These results indicate that the identified genetic changes may contribute to the attenuation of FJzzl strain,and the attenuated FJzzl-F200 may have the potential for developing PEDV live-attenuated vaccines.Pengfei Chen Xiongwei Zhao Shuting Zhou Tianxing Zhou Xiangmei Tan Xia Wu Wu Tong Fei Gao Lingxue Yu Yifeng Jiang Hai Yu Zhibiao Yang Guangzhi Tong Yanjun Zhou 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,5:4
5Construction of robust coupling interface between MoS2 and nitrogen doped graphene for high performance sodium ion batteries显示文摘As a layered inorganic material,MoS2 has recently attracted intensive attention as anode for sodium ion batteries(SIBs).However,this anode is plagued with low electronic conductivity,serious volume expansion and sluggish kinetics,resulting in capacity fading and poor rate performance.Herein,we develop an interface engineering strategy to substantially enhance the sodium storage performance of MoS2 by incorporating layered MoS2 into three dimensional N-doped graphene scaffold.The strong coupling-interface between MoS2 and N-doped graphene scaffold can not only stabilize the MoS2 structure during sodium insertion/extraction processes,but also provide plenty of anchor sites for additional surface sodium storage.The 3D MoS2@N-doped graphene composite as anode for SIBs performs an outstanding specific capacity of 667.3 mA h g^-1 at 0.2 A g^-1,a prolonged stability with a capacity retention of 94.4%after 140cycles and excellent rate capability of 445 mA h g^-1 even at a high rate of 10 A g^-1.We combined experiment and theoretical simulation to further disclose the interaction between MoS2 and N-doped graphene,adsorption and diffusion of sodium on the composite and the corresponding sodium storage mechanism.This study opens a new door to develop high performance SIBs by introducing the interface engineering technique.Yun Qiao Jiawei Wu Xiaoguang Cheng Yudong Pang Zhansheng Lu Xiangdong Lou Qingling Li Jin Zhao Shuting Yang Yang Liu 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,9:3
6Design and experimental performance verification of a thermal property test-bed for lunar drilling exploration显示文摘Chinese Chang'e lunar exploration project aims to collect and return subsurface lunar soil samples at a minimum penetration depth of 2 m in 2017. However, in contrast to those on the Earth, automated drilling and sampling missions on the Moon raise the risk of burning bits.Test-beds are required for testing the thermal properties of drill tools in a lunar environment. In this paper, a novel temperature measuring method based on thermocouples and a slip ring was proposed. Furthermore, a data acquisition system for a drilling process was designed. A vacuous,cryogenic, and anhydrous soil environment simulating the lunar surface was established. A drilling test-bed that can reach a depth of 2.2 m was developed. A control strategy based on online monitoring signals was proposed to improve the drilling performance. Vacuum and non-vacuum experiments were performed to test the temperature rising effect on drill tools. When compared with the non-vacuum experiment, the vacuum temperature rise resulted in a 12 °C increase. 7Isogeometric topology optimization based on energy penalization for symmetric structure显示文摘We present an energy penalization method for isogeometric topology optimization using moving morphable components(ITO–MMC),propose an ITO–MMC with an additional bilateral or periodic symmetric constraint for symmetric structures,and then extend the proposed energy penalization method to an ITO–MMC with a symmetric constraint.The energy penalization method can solve the problems of numerical instability and convergence for the ITO–MMC and the ITO–MMC subjected to the structural symmetric constraint with asymmetric loads.Topology optimization problems of asymmetric,bilateral symmetric,and periodic symmetric structures are discussed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed energy penalization approach.Compared with the conventional ITO–MMC,the energy penalization method for the ITO–MMC can improve the convergence rate from 18.6%to 44.5%for the optimization of the asymmetric structure.For the ITO–MMC under a bilateral symmetric constraint,the proposed method can reduce the objective value by 5.6%and obtain a final optimized topology that has a clear boundary with decreased iterations.For the ITO–MMC under a periodic symmetric constraint,the proposed energy penalization method can dramatically reduce the number of iterations and obtain a speedup of more than 2.Xianda XIE Shuting WANG Ming YE Zhaohui XIA Wei ZHAO Ning JIANG Manman XU 2020Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2020,15,1:3
8A new multi-scale analytic algorithm for edge extraction of strawberry leaf images in natural light显示文摘In this study,a new algorithm was proposed for edge extraction of greenhouse strawberry leaf in natural light based on the 4-level daubechies 5(‘db5’)wavelet decomposition.This algorithm adopts different segmentation methods for the reconstructed images at different scales to erase the external background and the internal leaf vein interference.There were two advantages of this method.One was that it can provide the abstraction from different spaces to express a same image.The other one was that some image features are hard to be acquired in some scale spaces,while the features are easy to be obtained in other scale spaces.In this image process methods,the Otsu threshold segmentation was to obtain the binary image areas,and the Canny segmentation is to obtain the accurate gradient edges,then the morphological methods and the logical calculus methods were to avoid the fragments inside the leaf area and the adhesions outside the leaf area.Since the strawberry leaf images were different respectively,and the greenhouse optical radiation and reflection may cause local non-uniform illumination of leaf image,the pseudo canny edges of leaf image ere divided into three categories in this research.The first category was the external pseudo canny edges area of the first layer reconstructed leaf image,the second category was the internal pseudo canny edges area in highlight of the third layer reconstructed leaf image,the third category was the internal pseudo canny edges area of significantly different grayscale of the third layer reconstructed leaf image.The different processing methods were constructed for the three kinds of different texture features based on the multi scale reconstructed images,then the complete and the accurate leaf edges without interference were obtained.Finally,the multi scale method was simplified and a remarkably effective segmentation algorithm was deduced for the greenhouse strawberry leaf in natural light.Wang Jianlun Han Yu Zhao Shuangshuang Zheng Hongxu He Can Cui Xiaoying Xu Yun Chen Jianshu Wang Shuting 2016International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,1:2
9How delaying post-silking senescence in lower leaves of maize plants increases carbon and nitrogen accumulation and grain yield显示文摘Planting maize at high densities leads to early leaf senescence,and the resulting reduction in the number of lower leaves affects the plant’s root function and lowers its grain yield.However,the nature of the process by which lower leaf senescence affects biomass accumulation and grain yield formation in maize is not clear.This study aimed to shed light on how these factors are related by investigating the effects of the plant growth regulator 6-benzyladenine(6-BA)on the senescence of lower leaves of maize plants.In two maize cultivars planted at densities of 67,500(low density,LD)and 90,000(high density,HD)plants ha^(-1),plants treated with 6-BA maintained a high green leaf area index(LAI)longer than control(CK)plants,enabling them to maintain a higher photosynthetic rate for a longer period of time and produce more biomass before reaching physiological maturity.Spraying the lower leaves of maize plants with a 6-BA solution increased the distribution of;C-photosynthates to their roots,lower leaves and bracts,a result that can be ascribed to a decreased retention of;C-photosynthates in the stem and grain.In both seasons of the experiment,maize plants treated with 6-BA accumulated more N in grain and maintained a higher N content in roots and leaves,especially in lower leaves,than CK.Increased C assimilation in the lower leaves may explain why N uptake in plants subjected to the 6-BA treatment exceeded that in CK plants and why both photosynthesis rate and dry matter accumulation were maintained throughout grain filling.Our results suggest that a suitable distribution of C and N in leaves post-silking may maintain plant root function,increase N use efficiency,maximize the duration of high LAI,and increase grain yield.Rongfa Li Dandan Hu Hao Ren Qinglong Yang Shuting Dong Jiwang Zhang Bin Zhao Peng Liu 2022The Crop Journal2022,10,3:2
10Occurrence and impact of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins/dibenzofurans in the air and soil around a municipal solid waste incinerator显示文摘To assess the influence of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans(PCDD/Fs) on the environment in the vicinity of municipal solid waste incinerators(MSWIs), we determined the levels of PCDD/Fs in air and soil samples collected around a MSWI, which is the largest in China. The International Toxicity Equivalency Quantity(I-TEQ) concentrations of PCDD/Fs in air samples were from 0.0300 to 1.03 pg I-TEQ/m^3(0.445–13.6 pg/m^3), with an average of 0.237 pg I-TEQ/m^3, while in soil samples they ranged from 0.520 to 3.40 pg I-TEQ/g(2.41–88.7 pg/g) with an average of1.49 pg I-TEQ/g. The concentrations of PCDD/Fs in air and soil samples were comparable to other areas, and Pe CDFs were the dominant contributors, which was different from stack gas homologue patterns. Multivariate statistical analysis showed that PCDD/Fs emission from the MSWI did not directly affect the profiles of PCDD/Fs in air and soils, so that vehicles and unidentified emission sources should be considered. The daily inhalation levels of PCDD/Fs for children(0.0110 to 0.392 pg I-TEQ/(kg·day) and adults(0.00600 to 0.221 pg I-TEQ/(kg·day) near the MSWI were lower than the tolerable daily intake of 1.00 to 4.00 pg WHO-TEQ/(kg·day), but in winter the values were higher than in summer. 12Low-bandgap conjugated polymers based on benzodipyrrolidone with reliable unipolar electron mobility exceeding 1 cm^(2) V^(-1)s^(-1)显示文摘The employment of an intrinsic quinoidal building block,benzodipyrrolidone(BDP),on constructing conjugated polymers(PBDP-2F and PBDP-2CN)with high electron mobility and unipolar transport characteristic in polyethylenimine ethoxylated(PEIE)modified organic field-effect transistors(OFETs)is reported.The intrinsic quinoidal characteristic and excellent coplanarity of BDP can lower the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital(LUMO)levels and improve ordered interchain packing of the resulting polymers in solid states,which are favorable for electron-injection and transport.By using PEIE as the interlayer to block the hole injection,unipolar n-type transport characteristics with high electron mobility of 0.58 and 1.01 cm^(2) V^(-1)s^(-1)were achieved by the OFETs based on PBDP-2F and PBDP-2CN,respectively.More importantly,the extracted mobilities are highly reliable with the reliability factor of above 80%.To the best of our knowledge,PBDP-2CN is the very first quinoid-based conjugated polymer with reliable electron mobility exceeding 1 cm^(2) V^(-1)s^(-1).This work represents a significant step in exploring intrinsic quinoidal CPs for application in n-channel OFETs and logic complementary circuits.Mingqun Yang Tian Du Xuxia Zhao Xuelong Huang Langheng Pan Shuting Pang Haoran Tang Zhongxiang Peng Long Ye Yunfeng Deng Mingliang Sun Chunhui Duan Fei Huang Yong Cao 2021Science China Chemistry2021,64,7:1
13Poor development of spike differentiation triggered by lower photosynthesis and carbon partitioning reduces summer maize yield after waterlogging显示文摘Stable yield of staple grains must be ensured to satisfy food demands for daily dietary energy requirements against the backdrop of global climate change. Summer maize, a staple crop, suffers severe yield losses due to extreme rainfall events, threatening food security. A randomized block experiment with four treatments: control, no water stress(CK);waterlogging for 6 days at the third leaf, sixth leaf stage,and 10 th day after tasseling, was conducted to investigate the mechanism of waterlogging-induced yield losses of summer maize. Waterlogging delayed plant growth and impaired tassel and ear differentiation,leading to high grain yield losses of Denghai 605(DH605). Waterlogging at third leaf(V3) stage reduced the photosynthesis of DH605, reducing total dry matter weight. Waterlogging at V3 stage reduced sucrose-cleaving enzymes activities in spike nodes and ears, reducing the carbon partitioned to ears(–53.1%), shanks(–46.5%), and ear nodes(–71.5%) but increasing the carbon partitioned to ear leaves(9.6%) and tassels(43.9%) in comparison with CK. 15A Strategy for Searching Antigenic Regions in the SARS-CoV Spike Protein显示文摘In the face of the worldwide threat of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)to human life, some of the most urgent challenges are to develop fast and accurate analytical methods for early diagnosis of this disease as well as to create a safe anti-viral vaccine for prevention. To these ends, we investigated the antigenicity of the spike protein (S protein), a major structural protein in the SARS-coronavirus (SARS-CoV). Based upon the theoretical analysis for hydrophobicity of the S protein, 18 peptides were synthesized. Using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA), these peptides were screened in the sera from SARS patients. According to these results, two fragments of the S gene were amplified by PCR and cloned into pET-32a. Both S fragments were expressed in the BL-21 strain and further purified with an affinity chromatography. These recombinant S fragments were confirmed to have positive cross-reactions with SARS sera, either by Western blot or by ELISA. Our results demonstrated that the potential epitope regions were located at Codons 469-882 in the S protein, and one epitope site was located at Codons 599-620. 19Prevalence of Congenital Heart Disease at Extremely High Altitudes in Tibet and the Establishment of a New Free Treatment Model显示文摘Background: This study aimed to illustrate the prevalence of CHD by screening children in extremely high-altitudeareas (over 4000 m to even 5000 m above sea level) and explore an aid model for early diagnosis and treatmentfor the Tibetan population. Methods: A total of 2242 students from different schools in Ngamring County,Xigaze City, Tibet from September 2019 to September 2020 were selected for screening. The students were examinedthrough the inquiry of their current medical history and family history, cardiac auscultation and a physicalexamination, in order to screen out the suspected cases of CHD, and then the suspected cases were confirmed bycardiac color ultrasound examinations. After that, positive patients were be transferred to Shandong Province forfree treatment. Results: The prevalence of CHD among children in Ngamring County was 3.70% (83 cases),which is the highest incidence rate ever reported. The most common type of CHD was patent ductus arteriosus(PDA), accounting for 55.42% of the total number of cases screened, followed by atrial septal defect (ASD) andventricular septal defect (VSD), accounting for 28.92% and 12.05%, respectively. The prevalence of CHD in childrenat high altitude was significantly higher than that in children at low altitude. 20The valuation of China’s environmental degradation from 2004 to 2017显示文摘This paper aims to evaluate the cost of environmental degradation by adopting the conventional environmental economic methodology in China from 2004 to 2017 and summarize the change in both the causes and costs of China’s environmental degradation.Results from this study revealed the following:i.The environmental degradation cost in China increased from 511 billion yuan to 1,892 billion yuan from 2004 to 2017,and its share in the GDP decreased from 3.05% to 2.23%;ii.The environmental degradation cost growth rate was lower than the GDP growth rate.The environmental degradation cost growth rate decreased sharply,by dropping from 10% in 2014 to 2% in 2017.The environmental benefits of industrial transformation have emerged;iii.The provinces of Shandong,Hebei,Jiangsu,Henan,and Guangdong had the highest environmental degradation costs.The annual average growth rate of the environmental degradation costs in Jiangsu,Guangdong,and Zhejiang were lower than their growth rate of the GDP respectively;iv.Consideration of environmental degradation cost in decision-making could contribute to the high-quality development of China.Guoxia Ma Fei Peng Weishan Yang Gang Yan Shuting Gao Xiafei Zhou Ji Qi Dong Cao Yue Zhao Wen Pan Hongqiang Jiang Hong Jing Guangxia Dong Minxue Gao Jingbo Zhou Fang Yu Jinnan Wang 2020Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2020,,1:1
