1An experimental study of elastic properties of dragonfly-like flapping wings for use in biomimetic micro air vehicles(BMAVs)显示文摘This article studies the elastic properties of several biomimetic micro air vehicle(BMAV)wings that are based on a dragonfly wing.BMAVs are a new class of unmanned micro-sized air vehicles that mimic the flapping wing motion of flying biological organisms(e.g.,insects,birds,and bats).Three structurally identical wings were fabricated using different materials:acrylonitrile butadiene styrene(ABS),polylactic acid(PLA),and acrylic.Simplified wing frame structures were fabricated from these materials and then a nanocomposite film was adhered to them which mimics the membrane of an actual dragonfly.These wings were then attached to an electromagnetic actuator and passively flapped at frequencies of 10-250 Hz.A three-dimensional high frame rate imaging system was used to capture the flapping motions of these wings at a resolution of 320 pixels x 240 pixels and 35000 frames per second.The maximum bending angle,maximum wing tip deflection,maximum wing tip twist angle,and wing tip twist speed of each wing were measured and compared to each other and the actual dragonfly wing.The results show that the ABS wing has considerable flexibility in the chordwise direction,whereas the PLA and acrylic wings show better conformity to an actual dragonfly wing in the spanwise direction.Past studies have shown that the aerodynamic performance of a BMAV flapping wing is enhanced if its chordwise flexibility is increased and its spanwise flexibility is reduced.Therefore,the ABS wing(fabricated using a 3D printer) shows the most promising results for future applications.Praveena Nair Sivasankaran Thomas Arthur Ward Erfan Salami Rubentheren Viyapuri Christopher J.Fearday Mohd Rafie Johan 2017Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2017,30,2:5

3Strategies for Revitalization of Traditional Medicine显示文摘Traditional medicine (TM) plays an inevitable role in drug discovery and development. Most of the therapeutically useful molecules used in the present day are inspired from TM. Herbal drugs are the oldest forms of medicines used for the treatment of various ailments and the TM of every country has a long history of their usage. To develop more data on their quality, safety, and efficacy, so also to improve the consumer's need of modern days several thrust areas of research are to be focused on the development of TM. Based on the above concept, a paradigm shift is required for the revitalization of TM. These facts along with the modern scientific approaches, molecular tools, and strategies make it necessary for TM to be revitalized. 4Static strength analysis of dragonfly inspired wings for biomimetic micro aerial vehicles显示文摘This article examines the suitability of fabricating artificial, dragonfly-like, wing frames from materials that are commonly used in unmanned aircraft(balsa wood, black graphite carbon fiber and red prepreg fiberglass). Wing frames made with Type 321 stainless steel are also examined for comparison. The purpose of these wings is for future use in biomimetic micro aerial vehicles(BMAV). BMAV are a new class of unmanned micro-sized aerial vehicles that mimic flying biological organisms(like flying insects). Insects, such as dragonflies, possess corrugated and complex vein structures that are difficult to mimic. Simplified dragonfly-like wing frames were fabricated from these materials and then a nano-composite film was adhered to them, which mimics the membrane of an actual dragonfly. Finite element analysis simulations were also performed and compared to experimental results. The results showed good agreement(less than 10% difference for all cases).Analysis of these results shows that stainless steel is a poor choice for this wing configuration, primarily because of the aggressive oxidation observed. Steel, as well as balsa wood, also lacks flexibility. 5Research progress and challenges of two dimensional MoS_2 field effect transistors显示文摘This review paper gives an outline of the recent research progress and challenges of 2D TMDs material MoS_2 based device, that leads to an interesting path towards approaching the electronic applications due to its sizeable band gap. This review presents the improvement of MoS_2 material as an alternate to a silicon channel in a transistor with its excellent energy band gap, thermal conductivity, and exclusive physical properties that are expected to draw attention to focusing on semiconducting devices for most futuristic applications. We discuss the band structure of MoS_2 for a different number of layers with its structure, and various synthesis techniques of the MoS_2 layer are also reviewed. The MoS_2 based field effect transistor has attracted a great deal of attention due to its excellent properties such as mobility, on/off current ratio, and maximum on-current of the devices. The transition of mobility as a function of temperature and thickness dependence are also discussed. However, the mobility of MoS_2 material is large in bulk form and lower in monolayer form. The use of a high-k gate dielectric in MoS_2 FET is used to enhance the mobility of the device. Different metal contact engineering and different doping techniques were deployed to achieve low contact resistance. 6Impact of parameter fluctuations on RF stability performance of DG tunnel FET显示文摘This paper presents the impact of parameter fluctuation due to process variation on radio frequency(RF)stability performance of double gate tunnel FET(DG TFET).The influence of parameter fluctuation due to process variation leads to DG TFET performance degradation.The RF figures of merit(FoM) such as cut-off frequency(f_t),maximum oscillation frequency(f_(max)) along with stability factor for different silicon body thickness,gate oxide thickness and gate contact alignment are obtained from extracted device parameters through numerical simulation.The impact of parameter fluctuation of silicon body thickness,gate oxide thickness and gate contact alignment was found significant and the result provides design guidelines of DG TFET for RF applications.K Sivasankaran P S Mallick 2015Journal of Semiconductors2015,36,8:2
