3The Current State and Progress of Mpox Vaccine Research显示文摘On July 23,2022,the World Health Organization(WHO)declared the monkeypox(mpox)outbreak a“Public Health Emergency of International Concern.”Since 2022,outbreaks of mpox in many countries around the world have primarily resulted in fatalities among immunocompromised individuals,such as untreated HIV/AIDS patients.Since the eradication of smallpox was declared by the WHO in 1980,the global vaccination against smallpox has been gradually discontinued.China also stopped routine smallpox vaccination in 1981.The protective effect of the smallpox vaccine has decreased over time due to aging and declining immunity in those who were vaccinated.For individuals,timely vaccination against smallpox is an effective means of protection against mpox.However,due to safety concerns with the smallpox vaccine and the limitations of current mpox vaccines,there is no vaccine that is safe,effective,and has low side effects applied in clinical settings.This article provides a comprehensive review of the development of mpox virus(MPXV)vaccines,their application in special populations,and the current state of vaccine research,considering the etiology,transmission,and prevention of the MPXV.Vaccination,as an effective method of epidemic prevention,can provide long-term immune protection and effectively reduce the severity of infection.However,as there is no licensed specific MPXV vaccine available globally,the vaccines currently used for mpox prevention are mostly smallpox vaccines.These smallpox vaccines can offer some degree of protection against mpox by activating cross-protection in the body.Xinlong Wang Zhixia Gu Shugui Sheng Rui Song Ronghua Jin 2024China CDC weekly2024,6,7:0
4An Improved Method for Modeling Spatial Distribution of δD in Surface Snow over Antarctic Ice Sheet显示文摘Using the recent compilation of the isotopic composition data of surface snow of Antarctic ice sheet, we proposed an improved interpolation method of δD, which utilizes geographical factors (i.e., latitude and altitude) as the primary predictors and incorporates inverse distance weighting (IDW) technique. The method was applied to a high-resolution digital elevation model (DEM) to produce a grid map of multi-year mean δD values with 1km spatial resolution for Antarctica. The mean absolute deviation between observed and estimated data in the map is about 5.4‰, and the standard deviation is 9‰. 5Combining in-situ TEM observations and theoretical calculation for revealing the thermal stability of CeO_(2) nanoflowers显示文摘The thermal stability of Ce_(2) nanomaterials can directly impact both the uniformity of the supported catalysts and the catalytic behavior of Ce_(2) itself.However,knowledge about the thermal stability of Ce_(2) is still deficient.Here,we conduct in-situ transmission electron microscopy experiments and theoretical calculations to elucidate the thermal stability of Ce_(2) nanomaterials under different environments.A sinter(<700℃)and a structural decomposition(>700℃)are observed within Ce_(2) nanoflowers under O_(2).The sinter firstly occurs among the nanoflowers’monomers and then the sintered nanoparticles structurally decompose to tiny nanoparticles from the strain interface.Under a vacuum environment,the Ce_(2) nanoflowers firstly undergo a transition from cubic fluorite Ce_(2) to hexagonal Ce_(2)O_(3),accompanied by the oxygen release.The Ce_(2)O_(3) nanoparticles further atomically sublimate from the edges to the center under high temperatures.Theoretical calculation results reveal a considerably lower energy barrier for the structural decomposition under O_(2) and for the sublimation under vacuum.This work provides a perspective on the structural design and performance optimization of Ce_(2)-based catalysts.Mingyun Zhu Kuibo Yin Yifeng Wen Shugui Song Yuwei Xiong Yunqian Dai Litao Sun 2022Nano Research2022,15,2:0
