| 4 | Effect of methanol extract of Schisandrae Fructus on high fat diet induced hyperlipidemic mice显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects and molecular targets of Schisandrae Fructus(SF)methanol extract(SFme)in mice with hyperlipidemia induced by high fat diet.METHODS:We observed changes in body weight,blood serum content of total cholesterol,high-density lipoprotein(HDL)-cholesterol,and triglyceride.The extent of accumulation of lipid peroxide due to lipid metabolism disorder also evaluated by measuring malondialdehyde(MDA)level.In addition,after getting gene expression in hepatic tissues,target protein of SFme was identified using a protein interaction database.RESULTS:SFme significantly decreased total cholesterol and triglyceride levels without alteration of body weight in mice,and the livercontent of MDA was statistically decreased by SFme.And expression changes of cyclindependent kinase 1(Cdk1)and leucine-rich repeat kinase 2(Lrrk2)were restored by SFme.CONCLUSION:The effect of SFme on the highfat-diet induced hyperlipidemia via decreasing total cholesterol and triglyceride levels may involve the expression of Cdk1 and Lrrk2 proteins. | Se-Eun Lee Hyungwoo Kim Chang-Hyun Kim Chiyeon Lim Suin Cho | 2019 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2019,39,6: | 1 |

| 6 | Artemisia kruhsiana leaf extract induces autophagic cell death in human prostate cancer cells显示文摘Some species of Artemisia have been reported to induce apoptosis and autophagy,but little is known of the apoptotic and autophagic effects of the stems and leaves of Artemisia kruhsiana Bess.(AkB).This study was conducted to investigate the antioxidant and anti-autophagic effects of the methanol extracts of the stems(EAkBs)and leaves(EAkBl)of AkB on human prostate cancer PC-3 cells.The antioxidant effects of EAkBs and EAkBl were measured using in vitro total flavonoid and total phenolic assays and a free radical scavenging assay.The effects of EAkBl on cell viability,apoptosis,autophagy,intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation and protein expression levels were also investigated.EAkBl was found to induce apoptosis,autophagy,and intracellular ROS generation in PC-3 cells.In terms of protein levels,EAkBl reduced phospho(p)-protein kinase B(AKT)/AKT,p-mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)/mTOR,B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2)/Bcl-2-associated X protein(Bax)ratios,and the activations of beclin 1/β-actin and microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3(LC3)Ⅱ/LC3Ⅰratios in PC-3 cells.The results of this study indicate EAkBl has antioxidant and anticancer effects on prostate cancer cells,and that these effects are associated with suppressions of p-AKT,p-mTOR,Bcl-2,and Bax,and the activations of beclin 1 and LC3.Our results indicate EAkBl has potential as a treatment for prostate cancer. | LEE Se-Eun SIVTSEVA Sardana LIM Chiyeon OKHLOPKOVA Zhanna CHO Suin | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2021,19,2: | 1 |

| 14 | Dracocephalum palmatum Stephan extract induces apoptosis in human prostate cancer cells via the caspase-8-mediated extrinsic pathway显示文摘Dracocephalum palmatum Stephan is a medicinal plant traditionally used by nomadic people in Eastern Russia;however,research on this plant is currently limited.Recently,although studies have been conducted on the constituents of this plant and their antioxidant effects,data on its various pharmacological activities are still lacking.Thus,this study examined the anticancer potential of the dried leaves of D.palmatum S.(DpL)using human prostate cancer PC-3 cells.The antioxidant potential of DpL was evaluated by estimating the total flavonoid and total phenolic content(TFC and TPC,respectively).Additionally,we investigated the effects of the DpL ethyl acetate fraction(DpLE)on cell proliferation,intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation,apoptosis,and cell cycle arrest in this cell line.The expression levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)-1,SOD-2,B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2)and Bcl-2 associated X(Bax)ratio,phospho-protein kinase B(p-AKT),cleaved caspase-8,poly adenosine diphosphate(ADP)ribose polymerase(PARP),and cleaved-PARP were evaluated by western blotting.The results indicated that DpLE causes apoptosis and exerts intracellular ROS-independent anticancer effects on prostate cancer cells,associated with increased SOD-2,cleaved caspase-8,and cleaved-PARP expression and inhibited p-AKT signaling.Thus,DpLE may be a potential resource for the development of promising chemotherapeutic agents for prostate cancer. | LEE Se-Eun OKHLOPKOVA Zhanna LIM Chiyeon CHO Suin | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2020,18,10: | 1 |

| 17 | ZmDRR206 functions in maintaining cell wall integrity during maize seedling growth and defense response to external stresses显示文摘Plants adaptively change their cell wall composition and structure during their growth,development,and interactions with environmental stresses.Dirigent proteins(DIRs)contribute to environmental adaptations by dynamically reorganizing the cell wall and/or by generating defense compounds.A maize DIR,ZmDRR206,was previously reported to play a dominant role in regulation of storage nutrient accumulation in endosperm during maize kernel development.Here we show that ZmDRR206 mediates maize seedling growth and disease resistance by coordinately regulating biosynthesis of cell wall components for cell-wall integrity(CWI)maintenance.Expression of ZmDRR206 was induced in maize seedlings upon pathogen infection.ZmDRR206 overexpression in maize resulted in reduced seedling growth and photosynthetic activity but increased disease resistance and drought tolerance,revealing a tradeoff between growth and defense.Consistently,ZmDRR206 overexpression reduced the contents of primary metabolites and down-regulated genes involved in photosynthesis,while increasing the contents of major cell wall components,defense phytohormones,and defense metabolites,and up-regulated genes involved in defense and cell-wall biosynthesis in seedlings.ZmDRR206-overexpressing seedlings were resistant to cell-wall stress imposed by isoxaben,and ZmDRR206 physically interacted with ZmCesA10,which is a cellulose synthase unit.Our findings suggest a mechanism by which ZmDRR206 coordinately regulates biosynthesis of cell-wall components for CWI maintenance during maize seedling growth,and might be exploited for breeding strong disease resistance in maize. | Tao Zhong Suining Deng Mang Zhu Xingming Fan Mingliang Xu Jianrong Ye | 2023 | The Crop Journal2023,11,6: | 0 |
| 18 | Effect of open-field experimental warming on the leaf phenology of oriental oak (Quercus variabilis) seedlings显示文摘Aims An open-field warming experiment enables us to test the effects of projected temperature increase on change in plant phenology with fewer confounding factors and to study phenological response to temperature ranges beyond natural variability.This study aims to(i)examine the effect of temperature increase on leaf unfold-ing and senescence of oriental oak(Quercus variabilis Blume)under experimental warming and(ii)measure temperature-related parameters used in estimating phenological response to tempera-ture elevation.Methods Using an open-field warming system with infrared heaters,we increased the air temperature by~3℃ in the warmed plots compared with that of the control plots consistently for 2 years.Leaf unfolding and senescence dates of Q.variabilis seedlings were recorded and temperature-related phenological parameters were analysed.Important Findings The timing of leaf unfolding was advanced by 3-8 days(1.1-3.0 days/℃)and the date of leaf senescence was delayed by 14-19 days(5.0-7.3 days/℃)under elevated air temperatures.However,the cumulative degree days(CDD)of leaf unfolding were not significantly changed by experimental warming,which suggest the applicability of a constant CDD value to estimate the change in spring leaf phe-nology under 3℃ warming.Consistent ranges of advancement and temperature sensitivity in spring phenology and delayed autumn phe-nology and proposed temperature parameters from this study might be applied to predict future phenological change. | Saerom Han Haegeun Chung Nam Jin Noh Sun Jeoung Lee Wooyong Jo Tae Kyung Yoon Koong Yi Chan-woo Park Suin Ko Yowhan Son | 2014 | Journal of Plant Ecology2014,7,6: | 0 |
