Detailed investigation of optimized alkali catalyzed transesterification of Jatropha oil for biodiesel production显示文摘The non-edible oils are believed to be one of the major feedstock for the production of biodiesel in future. In the present study,we investigated the production of Jatropha oil methyl esters(JOMEs) via alkali-catalyzed transesterification route. The biophysical characteristics of Jatropha oil were found within the optimal range in accordance with ASTM standards as a substitute diesel fuel. The chemical composition and production yield of as-synthesized biodiesel were confirmed by various analytical techniques such as FT-IR,1H NMR,13 C NMR and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry.A high percentage conversion,~96.09%,of fatty acids into esters was achieved under optimized transesterification conditions with 6 :1 oil to methanol ratio and 0.9 wt% Na OH for 50 min at ~60°C.Moreover,twelve fatty acids methyl esters(FAME) were quantified in the GC/MS analysis and it was interesting to note that the mass fragmentation pattern of saturated, monounsaturated and diunsaturated FAME was comparable with the literature reported values. | Waqas Ahmed Muhammad Faizan Nazar Syed Danish Ali Usman Ali Rana Salah Ud-Din Khan | 2015 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2015,24,3: | 5
Molecular docking studies of anti-cancerous candidates in Hippophae rhamnoides and Hippophae salicifolia显示文摘Actinorhizal plants contain numerous antioxidants that may play a crucial role in preventing the formation of tumors.H-Ras p21,a member of the Ras-GTPase family,is a promising target to treat various kinds of cancers. An in silico docking study was carried out to identify the inhibitory potential of compounds of these plants against H-Ras by using Discovery Studio 3.5 and by using Autodock 4.2.Docking studies revealed that four compounds,isorhamnetin-7-rhamnoside,quercetin-3-glucoside-7-rhamnoside(present in H.rhamnoides),zeaxanthin, and translutein(present in H.salicifolia) significantly bind with binding energies-17.1534,-14.7936,-10.2105 and-17.2217 Kcal/mol,respectively,even though they slightly deviate from Lipinski's rule.Absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity(ADME/tox) analyses of these compounds and their stereoisomers showed that they were less toxic and non-mutagenic.Amongst them,isorhamntein-7-rhamnoside showed hepatotoxicity.Hence, these compounds can be further investigated in vivo to optimize their formulation and concentration and to develop potential chemical entities for the prevention and treatment of cancers. | Talambedu Usha Sushil Kumar Middha Arvind Kumar Goyal Mahesh Karthik DA Manoj Syed Faizan Peyush Goyal HP Prashanth Veena Pande | 2014 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,5: | 3
Loan growth and bank solvency:evidence from the Pakistani banking sector显示文摘Background:The dramatic loan growth and changes in the Pakistani banking system in mid-2000s have led to significant research attention on borrowers and lenders. This expansion and diversification in financial sector was driven by structural reforms, political stability and significant economic growth.Against this background, this study investigates the loan growth and risk-taking behavior of the banks during the expansionary periods of lending.Method:This study used dynamic two-step system generalized method of moment’s estimation technique, based on data taken from 32 banks in Pakistan over 2006-2014.Result:Loan growth has a significant effect on bank-specific and macroeconomicspecific variables.Loan growth in the previous year raises non-performing loans and decreases the solvency of banks with a time lag of many years. The driving force behind this phenomenon is weak prudential regulation among competitors, the asymmetric information of the borrowers, and, most importantly, that banks underestimate the risk of lending during credit booms. Conclusion:More regulatory measures are required to ensure a strong financial system when the volume of non-performing loan grows significantly. An increase in the capital requirement policy for rapidly growing banks is also needed because the problem of abnormal loan growth cannot be detected at the current time.At the same time, strong supervision is necessary to avoid the adverse consequences of borrower selection. | Muhammad Kashif Syed Faizan Iftikhar Khurram Iftikhar | 2016 | Financial Innovation2016,2,1: | 2
Process Mining Discovery Techniques for Software Architecture Lightweight Evaluation Framework显示文摘This research recognizes the limitation and challenges of adaptingand applying Process Mining as a powerful tool and technique in theHypothetical Software Architecture (SA) Evaluation Framework with thefeatures and factors of lightweightness. Process mining deals with the largescalecomplexity of security and performance analysis, which are the goalsof SA evaluation frameworks. As a result of these conjectures, all ProcessMining researches in the realm of SA are thoroughly reviewed, and ninechallenges for Process Mining Adaption are recognized. Process mining isembedded in the framework and to boost the quality of the SA model forfurther analysis, the framework nominates architectural discovery algorithmsFlower, Alpha, Integer Linear Programming (ILP), Heuristic, and Inductiveand compares them vs. twelve quality criteria. Finally, the framework’s testingon three case studies approves the feasibility of applying process mining toarchitectural evaluation. The extraction of the SA model is also done by thebest model discovery algorithm, which is selected by intensive benchmarkingin this research. This research presents case studies of SA in service-oriented,Pipe and Filter, and component-based styles, modeled and simulated byHierarchical Colored Petri Net techniques based on the cases’ documentation.Processminingwithin this framework dealswith the system’s log files obtainedfrom SA simulation. Applying process mining is challenging, especially for aSA evaluation framework, as it has not been done yet. The research recognizesthe problems of process mining adaption to a hypothetical lightweightSA evaluation framework and addresses these problems during the solutiondevelopment. | Mahdi Sahlabadi Ravie Chandren Muniyandi Zarina Shukur Faizan Qamar Syed Hussain Ali Kazmi | 2023 | Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,3: | 0
Weather Yield Model for the Semi Tropical Region (Pakistan)显示文摘Weather models are essential tools for checking of the effect of the weather elements in terms of their effect on the production of the crop. This research is an attempt to see the effect of only two variables i.e., temperature and rainfall for the division Faisalabad (semitropical region of Pakistan). The model fitted is of the linear form:the values of a,b, c have been found. The expected yield has been calculated by using the aridity indices (X1 and X2 ) and the result in the form of coefficient of determination R2 has been found equal to 0.166. The significance of the regression coefficient has been tested, which shows that the contribution to the yield from aridity index at germination and that at ripening is significant. The wheat yields are the results of a wide variety of variables, most of which show varying degree of relationship with one another, some positive and some negative in terms of output. These variables may be technology, fertilizers, pesticides, epidemics, kinds of seeds used, | Syed Faizan Haider K.H.Asif Amjad Hussain Gilani | 1992 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences1992,9,3: | 0
