| 2 | Intraoperative cell salvage with autologous transfusion in liver transplantation显示文摘Liver transplant(LT) is the primary treatment for patients with end-stage liver disease. About 25000 LTs are performed annually in the world. The potential for intraoperative bleeding is quite variable. However, massive bleeding is common and requires blood transfusion. Allogeneic blood transfusion has an immunosuppressive effect and an impact on recipient survival, in addition to the risk of transmission of viral infections and transfusion errors, among others.Techniques to prevent excessive bleeding or to use autologous blood have been proposed to minimize the negative effects of allogeneic blood transfusion.Intraoperative reinfusion of autologous blood is possible through previous selfdonation or blood collected during the operation. However, LT does not normally allow autologous transfusion by prior self-donation. Hence, using autologous blood collected intraoperatively is the most feasible option. The use of intraoperative blood salvage autotransfusion(IBSA) minimizes the perioperative use of allogeneic blood, preventing negative transfusion effects without negatively impacting other clinical outcomes. The use of IBSA in patients with cancer is still a matter of debate due to the theoretical risk of reinfusion of tumor cells. However, studies have demonstrated the safety of IBSA in several surgical procedures, including LT for hepatocellular carcinoma. | 3 | A Comparative Study on the Role of Cytokinins in Caryopsis Development in the Maize miniature1 Seed Mutant and Its Wild Type显示文摘We report here on a comparative developmental profile of plant hormone cytokinins in relation to cell size,cell number and endoreduplication in developing maize caryopsis of a cell wall invertase-deficient miniature1(mn1) seed mutant and its wild type,Mn1,genotype.Both genotypes showed extremely high levels of total cytokinins during the very early stages of development,followed by a marked and genotype specific reduction.While the decrease of cytokinins in Mn1 was associated with their deactivation by 9-glucosylation,the absolute and the relative part of active cytokinin forms was higher in the mutant.During the exponential growth phase of endosperm between 6 d after pollination and 9 d after pollination,the mean cell doubling time,the absolute growth rate and the level of endoreduplication were similar in the two genotypes.However,the entire duration of growth was longer in Mn1 compared with mn1,resulting in a significantly higher cell number in the Mn1 endosperm.These data correlate with the previously reported peak levels of the Mn1-encoded cell wall invertase-2(INCW2) at 12 d after pollination in the Mn1 endosperm.A model showing possible crosstalk among cytokinins,cell cycle and cell wall invertase as causal to increased cell number and sink strength of the Mn1 developing endosperm is discussed. | Tomaz Rijavec Maja Kova Ale Kladnik Prem S.Chourey Marina Dermastia | 2009 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2009，51，9： | 7 |

| 5 | Liver preservation prior to transplantation: Past, present, and future显示文摘Since Dr. Thomas Starzl performed the first series of successful liver transplants(LTs), important advances have been made in immunosuppression, operative techniques, and postoperative care. In 1988, Belzer's group reported the first successful LT using the University of Wisconsin preservation solution(UW).Since then, UW has replaced EuroCollins solution and allowed prolonged and safer preservation of liver, kidney, and pancreas allografts, thus contributing to the improvement of transplant outcomes. Although UW is still considered the standard of care in the United States and in several countries worldwide, a recent meta-analysis revealed similar LT outcomes among UW, Celsior solution, and the Institut Georges Lopez-1 preservation solution, which were slightly superior to those obtained with histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate preservation solution.Dynamic preservation has been recently developed, and liver allografts are preserved mainly through the following methods: hypothermic machine perfusion, normothermic machine perfusion, and subnormothermic machine perfusion. Their use has the potential advantage of improving clinical results in LT involving extended criteria donor allografts. Although associated with increased costs, techniques employing machine perfusion of liver allografts have been considered clinically feasible. | 6 | Giant hepatic extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumor treated with cytoreductive surgery and adjuvant systemic therapy:A case report and review of literature显示文摘BACKGROUND Primary extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors(E-GIST)of the liver are rare.The clinical presentation may range from asymptomatic to bleeding or manifestations of mass effect.Oncologic surgery followed by adjuvant therapy with imatinib is the standard of care.However,under specific circumstances,a cytoreductive approach may represent a therapeutic option.We describe herein the case of an 84-year-old woman who presented with a tender,protruding epigastric mass.Abdominal computed tomography scan revealed a large,heterogeneous mass located across segments III,IV,V,and VIII of the liver.The initial approach was transarterial embolization of the tumor,which elicited no appreciable response.Considering the large size and central location of the tumor and the advanced age of the patient,non-anatomic complete resection was indicated.Due to substantial intraoperative bleeding and hemodynamic instability,only a near-complete resection could be achieved.Histopathology and immunohistochemical staining confirmed the diagnosis of primary E-GIST of the liver.Considering the risk/benefit ratio for therapeutic options,debulking surgery may represent a strategy to control pain and prolong survival.CASE SUMMARY Here,we present a case report of a patient diagnosed with E-GIST primary of the liver,which was indicated a cytoreductive surgery and adjuvant therapy with imatinib.CONCLUSION E-GIST primary of the liver is a rare conditional,the treatment is with systemic therapy and total resection surgery.However,a cytoreductive surgery will be necessary when a complete resection is no possible. | Michel Ribeiro Fernandes Caroline Lorenzoni Almeida Ghezzi Tomaz J M Grezzana-Filho Flávia Heinz Feier Ian Leipnitz Aljamir Duarte Chedid Carlos Thadeu Schmidt Cerski Marcio Fernandes Chedid Cléber RositoPinto Kruel | 2021 | World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2021，13，3： | 3 |

| 9 | Selective dorsal rhizotomy in cerebral palsy spasticity-a newly established operative technique in Slovenia: A case report and review of literature显示文摘BACKGROUND Spasticity affects a large number of children,mainly in the setting of cerebral palsy,however,only a few paediatric neurosurgeons deal with this problem.This is mainly due to the fact that until 1979,when Fasano has published the first series of selective dorsal rhizotomy(SDR),neurosurgeons were able to provide such children only a modest help.The therapy of spasticity has made a great progress since then.Today,peroral drugs,intramuscular and intrathecal medicines are available,that may limit the effects of the disease.In addition,surgical treatment is gaining importance,appearing in the form of deep brain stimulation,peripheral nerve procedures and SDR.All these options offer the affected children good opportunities of improving the quality of life.CASE SUMMARY A 15-year old boy is presented that was surgically treated for spasticity as a result of cerebral palsy.Laminotomy at L1 level was performed and L1 to S1 nerve roots were isolated and divided in smaller fascicles.Then,the SDR was made.CONCLUSION We describe a patient report and surgical technique of SDR that was performed in Slovenia for the first time. | Tomaz Velnar Peter Spazzapan Zoran Rodi Natasa Kos Roman Bosnjak | 2019 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2019，7，10： | 2 |
