1Characterization of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency and identification of a novel haplotype 487G>A/IVS5-612(G>C) in the Achang population of southwestern China显示文摘The prevalence of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency and its gene mutations were studied in the Achang population from Lianghe County in Southwestern China. We found that 7.31% (19 of 260) males and 4.35% (10 of 230) females had G6PD deficiency. The molecular analysis of G6PD gene exons 2―13 was performed by a PCR-DHPLC-Sequencing or PCR-Sequencing. Sixteen inde-pendent subjects with G6PD Mahidol (487G>A) and the new polymorphism IVS5-612 (G>C), which combined into a novel haplotype, were identified accounting for 84.2% (16/19). And 100% Achang G6PD Mahidol were linked to the IVS5-612 C. The percentage of G6PD Mahidol in the Achang group is close to that in the Myanmar population (91.3% 73/80), which implies that there are some gene flows between Achang and Myanmar populations. Interestingly, G6PD Canton (1376G>T) and G6PD Kaiping (1388G>A), which were the most common G6PD variants from other ethnic groups in China, were not found in this Achang group, suggesting that there are different G6PD mutation profiles in the Achang group and other ethnic groups in China. 2The Cosmic Dust in Suzhou Granite:Ablated Products of a Cometary ExplosionHu Zhong-wei,Wang Er-kang,Wan Yu-qiuDepartement of Astronomy,Nanjing University,Nanjing 210093,China Department of Earth Sdence,Nanjing University,Nanjing 210093,China Cosmic dust has been collected in large number from deap-sea sediments,Greenland ice deposits,the stratosphere and space,of cosmic dust,some are the unmelted micrometeorite,and most are the ablated products of me-teoroids in the atmosphere.Cosmic dusts were recovered from two sites of the 1908 Tunguska explosion and the 1965 Revelstoks explosion Since 1987,a large number of microspherules have been extracted from Suzhou granite of China Their suface and section structures,mineral and chemical composition show that these microspherules are of the ablated cosmic dust.The microspherules occurred in the inner contact complex intrusion.It suggests that the microspherules may be products of the same event and were aggergated in some strata and then captured by the emplacement of granitic magma.Although the microspherules are similare to other ablated cosmic dusts,there are some diferences.Our calculated results of cometary motion through the atmosphere and explosion show that the microspherules may be the ablated dust of a comet with mass above 1015g at its explosion near the ground. 1996紫金山天文台台刊1996,15,3:2
3Immediate-early gene product ICP22 inhibits the trans-transcription activating function of P53-mdm-2显示文摘As a product of HSVI immediate-early gene, ICP22 is capable of interacting with various cellular tran-scriptive and regulatory molecules during viral infection so as to impact the normal cellular molecular mechanism. ICP22 expressed in transfected cells can push the cells’ entering into S phase with binding to mdm-1 promoter region and impact its trans-transcription activating effect by P53. 4Characteristics of echolocating bats’auditory stereocilia length, compared with other mammals显示文摘The stereocilia of the Organ of Corti in 4 different echolocating bats, Myotis adversus, Murina leuco-gaster, Nyctalus plancyi (Nyctalus velutinus), and Rhinolophus ferrumequinum were observed by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Stereocilia lengths were estimated for comparison with those of non-echolocating mammals. The specialized lengths of outer hair cells (OHC) stereocilia in echolocating bats were shorter than those of non-echolocating mammals. The specialized lengths of inner hair cells (IHC) stereocilia were longer than those of outer hair cells stereocilia in the Organ of Corti of echolocating bats. 9Gastric vagal afferent inputs reach the glycemia-sensitive neurons of lateral hypothalamic area in the rat显示文摘The glycemia-sensitive neuron in lateral hypothalamic area (LHA) is one of the important central neural events involved in the feeding control. Electrophysio-logical studies have demonstrated that gastrointestinal vagal afferent inputs could convey the meal-related information of gastrointestinal tract to the hypothalamus. In this study, we examined whether the gastric vagal afferent inputs could reach the glycemia-sensitive neurons of the LHA by using in vivo extracellular recording technique in the rat. The results showed that stimulation of gastric vagal nerves elicited two types of the LHA neurons responses: the phasic response (93/116, 80.2%) and the change in cells firing pattern (23/116, 19.8%). Within the 93 cells that responded to the gastric vagal stimulation with a phasic response, 67 (72.0%) showed an inhibition in the cells firing rate, 26 (27.4%) were excited. Of the 23 cells that showed a change in the firing pattern, 13 responded to the gastric vagal stimulation with a long-lasting increase or decrease in firing rate, the remaining 10 cells turned their discrete spiking to the burst discharging. In addition, of 101 LHA neurons including the two types of responsive neurons, 73 (72.3%) were identified to be glyce-mia-sensitive neurons. These results demonstrated that the gastric vagal afferent inputs could reach the LHA and pre-dominantly reach those glycemia-sensitive neurons in the LHA.
