Ecological evolution across the Permian/Triassic boundary at the Kangjiaping Section in Cili County, Hunan Province, China显示文摘The stratigraphic sequence of calcimicrobialite facies at the Permian-Triassic (P/Tr) boundary has well recorded the biotic and environmental transition across the end-Permian catastrophic events. The biostratigraphy, microfacies, carbon isotopes, and fossil records across the P/Tr boundary have been studied at the Kangjiaping Section in Cili County, Hunan Province. Three biostratigraphic zones, Palaeofusulina-Colaniella Zone, Hindeodus parvus Zone, and Isarcicella staeschei Zone, are identified. The excursion of δ13Ccarb exhibits a sharp negative shift in the calcimicrobialite at the P/Tr boundary, which is roughly accordant with the abrupt bioclastic decline. In addition, five types of microfacies are recognized, including algal-foraminifer bioclastic limestone, algal-laminated calcimicrobial limestone, oolitic grainstone, vermiculate limestone, and intraclastic wackstone. The results indicate that the changeover of ecosystem from metazoan reef to calcimicrobialite in Cili is a classic case of marine ecological evolution during the Paleozoic-Mesozoic transition. | WANG QinXian TONG JinNan SONG HaiJun YANG Hao | 2009 | Science China Earth Sciences2009,52,6: | 14
The large increase of δ^(13)C_(carb)-depth gradient and the end-Permian mass extinction显示文摘Carbonate carbon isotope δ(13Ccarb) has received considerable attention in the Permian-Triassic transition for its rapid negative shift coinciding with the great end-Permian mass extinction event. The mechanism has long been debated for such a δ13Ccarb negative excursion through the end-Permian crisis and subsequent large perturbations in the entire Early Triassic.A δ13Ccarb depth gradient is observed at the Permian-Triassic boundary sections of different water-depths,i.e.,the Yangou,Meishan, and Shangsi sections, and such a large δ13Ccarb-depth gradient near the end-Permian mass extinction horizon is believed to result from a stratified Paleotethys Ocean with widespread anoxic/euxinic deep water. The evolution of δ13Ccarb-depth gradient combined with paleontological and geochemical data suggests that abundant cyanobacteria and vigorous biological pump in the immediate aftermath of the end-Permian extinction would be the main cause of the large δ13Ccarb-depth gradient, and the enhanced continental weathering with the mass extinction on land provides a mass amount of nutriment for the flourishing cyanobacteria.Photic zone anoxia/euxinia from the onset of chemocline upward excursion might be the direct cause for the mass extinction whereas the instability of chemocline in the stratified Early Triassic ocean would be the reason for the delayed and involuted biotic recovery. | SONG HaiJun TONG JinNan XIONG YanLin SUN DongYing TIAN Li SONG HuYue | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,7: | 11
Depositional architecture of the late Ordovician drowned carbonate platform margin and its responses to sea-level fluctuation in the northern slope of the Tazhong region, Tarim Basin显示文摘The Tazhong Uplift of the late Ordovician is a drowned rimmed carbonate platform. The carbonate rock of the late Ordovician Lianglitage Formation in the northern slope of the Tazhong region is one of the significant petroliferous intervals. Based on petrofacies, depositional cycles, natural gammaray spectrometry and carbon/oxygen isotope data from the Lianglitage Formation, one 2nd-order, three 3rd-order and several 4th-order sequences have been recognized, and the late Ordovician relative sealevel fluctuation curve has been established. The sequences O 3 l-1 and O 3 l-2 on the platform are composed of highstand and transgressive systems tracts, but lack the lowstand systems tract. The sequence O 3 l-3 is a drowning sequence. The sequence O 3 l-1 overlapped the eroded slope and pinched out to the northwest and landward. The highstand systems tract in the sequence O 3 l-2 consists of low-angle sigmoid and high-angle shingled progradation configuration. Major sedimentary facies of the Lianglitage Formation include reef and shoal in the platform margin and lagoon, which can be subdivided into coral-sponge-stromatoporoid reef complex, sand shoal, lime mud mound, and intershoal sea. Reefs, sand shoals and their complex are potential reservoir facies. The reefs and sand shoals in the sequence O 3 l-1 developed in the upper of its highstand systems tract. In the sequence O 3 l-2, the highstand systems tract with an internal prograding configuration is a response to the lateral shifting of the complex of reef and sand shoal. The transgressive systems tract, in particular the sand shoals, developed widely on the slope of the platform margin and interior. The reefs in the sequence O 3 l-3 migrated towards high positions and formed retrograding reefs in the western platform and low relief in the platform interior. Basinward lateral migration of the reefs and pure carbonate rock both characterize highstand systems tract and show that the rise of the relative sea-level was very slow. Shingled prograding stacking pattern of the 4th-order sequences and reefs grow horizontally, which represents the late stage of highstand systems tract and implies relative sealevel stillstand. Reefs migrating towards high land and impure carbonate rock both indicate transgressive systems tract and suggest that the relative sea-level rose fast. Erosional truncation and epidiagenetic karstification represent a falling relative sea-level. The relative sea-level fluctuation and antecedent palaeotopography control the development and distribution of reef complexes and unconformity karst zones. Currently, the composite zone of epidiagenetic karstic intervals and high-energy complexes of reefs and sand shoals with prograding configuration is an important oil and gas reservoir in the northern slope of the Tazhong carbonate platform. | Yang Xiaofa Lin Changsong Yang Haijun Han Jianfa Liu Jingyan Zhang Yanmei Peng Li Jing Bing Tong Jianyu Wang Haiping Li Huanpu | 2010 | Petroleum Science2010,7,3: | 8

The microfacies and sedimentary responses to the mass extinction during the Permian-Triassic transition at Yangou Section, Jiangxi Province, South China显示文摘A Permian-Triassic(P-Tr) boundary section of continuous carbonate facies, which well recorded the biotic and environmental processes through the great P-Tr transition in the shallow non-microbialite carbonate facies, has been studied in Yangou, Leping County, Jiangxi Province. The P-Tr sequence is well correlated with the Meishan section according to the conodont biostratigraphy and the excursion of carbon isotopes. A series of high-resolution thin-sections from the P-Tr boundary carbonate rocks at the Yangou section are studied to explore the interrelation between environmental change and biological evolution during the transitional time. Six microfacies have been identified based upon the observation of the thin-sections under a microscope on the grains and matrix and their interrelation. Combined with the data of fossils and carbon isotopes, Microfacies 4(MF-4), coated-grain-bearing foraminifer oolitic sparitic limestone, and Microfacies 6(MF-6), dark shelly micritic limestone, should be the different responses to the two episodes of mass extinction and environmental events that can be correlated throughout South China and even over the world. The oolitic limestone of MF-4 is the first finding from the latest Permian strata in South China and it might be a proxy of an unusual environmental condition of high pCO2, low sulfate concentration and of microbial blooming in the aftermath of the latest Permian mass extinction. The micritic limestone of MF-6 containing rich micro-gastropods and ostracods probably represents the blooming event of disaster taxa in the earliest Triassic environment. The microfacies analysis at the Yangou section can well reveal the episodic process of the biological evolution and environmental change in the shallow non-microbialite carbonate facies throughout the great P-Tr transition, thus the Yangou section becomes an important complement to the Meishan section. | TIAN Li TONG JinNan SUN DongYing XIONG YanLin WANG ChengGang SONG HaiJun SONG HuYue HUANG YunFei | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,9: | 4
Carbon-containing electrospun nanofibers for lithium-sulfur battery:Current status and future directions显示文摘Lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)have become promising next-generation energy storage technologies for electric vehicles and portable electronics, due to its excellent theoretical specific energy. However, the low conductivity of sulfur species, notorious lithium dendrites, the severe'shuttle effect'of polysulfides(LiPSs)and the inferior kinetic reaction for LiPSs/Li_(2)S conversion during discharge-charge have seriously hindered their practical application, and also pose potential safety hazards.Owing to their superior porous architectures, high specific surface areas, excellent structural designability, functional modifiability, abundant active sites and flexibility of carbon-containing electrospun nanofibers(CENFs),they exhibited the superior characteristics that can simultaneously solve the above issues. In this review,we summarize the recent progress and application of CENFs in LSBs.First,we provide a brief introduction to the structure and composition controlled of carbon nanofibers by electrospinning. We then review progress in recent developments of CENFs for LSBs including cathodes, anodes, separators, and interlayers. We focus on how to solve practical issues that arise when the CENFs are applied to various parts of LSBs,and the relevant working mechanisms are described, from high sulfur loading and Li dendrites suppression to LiPSs’confinement and conversion. Finally,we summarize and propose the existing challenges and future prospects of CENFs,for the design and architecture of electrochemical components in Li-S energy storage systems. | Zhaoming Tong Liang Huang Wen Lei Haijun Zhang Shaowei Zhang | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,3: | 4
Rapid Carbonate Depositional Changes Following the Permian-Triassic Mass Extinction: Sedimentary Evidence from South China显示文摘Various environmental changes were associated with the Permian-Triassic mass extinction at 252.2 Ma. Diverse unusual sediments and depositional phenomena have been uncovered as responses to environmental and biotic changes. Lithological and detailed conodont biostratigraphic correlations within six Permian-Triassic boundary sections in South China indicate rapid fluctuations in carbonate deposition. Four distinct depositional phases can be recognized:(1) normal carbonate deposition on the platform and slope during the latest Permian;(2) reduced carbonate deposition at the onset of the main extinction horizon;(3) expanded areas of carbonate deposition during the Hindeodus changxingsensis Zone to the H. parvus Zone; and(4) persistent mud-enriched carbonate deposition in the aftermath of the Permian-Triassic transition. Although availability of skeletal carbonate was significantly reduced during the mass extinction, the increase in carbonate deposition did not behave the same way. The rapid carbonate depositional changes, presented in this study, suggest that diverse environmental changes played key roles in the carbonate deposition of the Permian-Triassic mass extinction and onset of its aftermath. An overview of hypotheses to explain these changes implies enhanced terrestrial input, abnormal ocean circulation and various geobiological processes contributed to carbonate saturation fluctuations, as the sedimentary response to large volcanic eruptions. | Li Tian Jinnan Tong David Bottjer Daoliang Chu Lei Liang Huyue Song Haijun Song | 2015 | Journal of Earth Science2015,26,2: | 2
Synthesis of sulfur doped C_(3)N_(4) with enhanced photocatalytic activity in molten salt显示文摘In this paper, sulfur doped g-C_(3)N_(4)(S-g-C_(3)N_(4))was successfully prepared at 500℃ for 3 h via a modified molten salt method using dicyandiamide as the main raw material, trithiocyanuric acid as the sulfur source and LiBreKCl as the reaction medium. The as-prepared SeCN5.0% sample(the mass ratio of trithiocyanuric acid to dicyandiamide was 5.0%)composed of irregular flakes showed a band gap of 1.83 eV,which was narrower than that(2.55 eV)of pristine g-C_(3)N_(4).The SeCN5.0% sample also exhibited an outstanding absorption capacity of visible light. Moreover, the photodegradation rate toward methylene blue and tetracycline were respectively 10 and 20 times as high as that of bulk g-C_(3)N_(4) prepared by conventional heating methods, confirming its superior photocatalytic performance. These results can be attributed to that the replacement of lattice nitrogen with sulfur atom tuned the electronic structure of g-C_(3)N_(4),improved the absorption of visible light, optimized the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs, and consequently enhanced the photocatalytic activity of g-C_(3)N_(4).Moreover,the trapping experiments implied that hole(ht)and superoxide radical($O2)were the main active species in the process of photodegradation. | Keke Guan Junyi Li Wen Lei Honghong Wang Zhaoming Tong Quanli Jia Haijun Zhang Shaowei Zhang | 2021 | Journal of Materiomics2021,7,5: | 2
Triassic integrative stratigraphy and timescale of China显示文摘The Triassic rocks are widespread in China, and both marine and terrestrial strata are well developed. The Triassic stratigraphic architecture of China is very complex in both spatial variation of the so-called 'South Marine and North Continental', i.e. the southern areas of China occupied mostly by marine facies while the northern China by terrestrial facies during the Triassic Period, and temporal transition of the 'Lower Marine and Upper Continental', i.e. the lower part of the Triassic System composed mainly of marine facies and the upper part of terrestrial strata especially in South China. Although the Global Stratotype Section and Point(GSSP) of the Permian-Triassic boundary is located in South China, the Triassic of China except for some marine Lower-Middle Triassic depositions shows significantly local characteristics and is hardly correlated with the global chronostratigraphic chart. Consequently, the Triassic of China contains not only the international research hotspots but also difficult points in stratigraphic study. This paper aims to present a brief review of the Triassic in China, including chronostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, magnetostratigraphy and chemostratigraphy, and summarize an integrated Triassic stratigraphic framework of China. Accordingly, a stratigraphic correlation is proposed for the lithostratigraphic sequences among the three tectono-paleogeographic stratigraphic regions. The comprehensive study indicates that ammonoids are the classic index fossils in Triassic biostratigraphy but conodonts are more advantageous in the study and definition of the Triassic chronostratigraphic boundaries. China still has the potential to optimize the GSSPs of the Induan-Olenekian boundary and Olenekian-Anisian boundary. The correlation of the Permian-Triassic boundary between marine and terrestrial facies might be achieved with the help of the Permian-Triassic 'transitional bed' and its related biotic and environmental events in association with the biostratigraphic study of conchostracan, vertebrate and plant fossils. In addition, the carbon isotopes have been proved to be one of the powerful methods in marine Triassic stratigraphic study, whereas the oxygen and strontium isotopes may be additional important bridges to establish the correlation between the marine and terrestrial strata, but as yet lacking of relevant studies in terrestrial strata. Considering the most stratigraphic intervals of the Triassic and the terrestrial Triassic in China are difficult to be correlated to the global chart, the proposed Chinese(regional) Triassic chronostratigraphic chart of marine and terrestrial stages would be of importance to the study of Chinese Triassic stratigraphy and related aspects, but the stages must be conceptually in line with international standards and studied as soon as possible in order to finalize the definition. | Jinnan TONG Daoliang CHU Lei LIANG Wenchao SHU Haijun SONG Ting SONG Huyue SONG Yuyang WU | 2019 | Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,1: | 2

Paleo-redox conditions across the Permian-Triassic boundary in shallow carbonate platform of the Nanpanjiang Basin, South China显示文摘Ocean anoxia has been widely implicated in the Permian-Triassic extinction. However, the duration and distribution of the ocean anoxia remains controversial. In this study, the detailed redox changes across the Permian-Triassic boundary(PTB)in the shallow platform interior at Great Bank of Guizhou(GBG)has been reconstructed based on the high-resolution microfossil composition and multiple paleo-redox proxies. The shallow platform is characterized by low sulfur(total sulfur(TS)and pyrite sulfur(Spy))concentrations, low Spy/TOC ratios, and low DOP values before the mass extinction, representing oxic conditions well.Following the mass extinction, the shift of multiple geochemical proxies, including high Spy/TOC ratios and DOP values, indicates dysoxic-anoxic conditions in shallow ocean.Furthermore,we reconstruct the transition of the redox conditions of Nanpanjiang Basin:the intense volcanic eruptions, which release huge CO2 and SO2 before the mass extinction, provoke the temperature rising and the collapse of terrestrial ecosystem. As a result, the increased weathering influx causes the carbon isotopic negative excursion and the expansion of the ocean oxygen minimum zone(OMZ).When the OMZ expanded into the photic zone, the episodic H2S release events enhance the pyrite burial at Dajiang section. Thus, intense volcanic eruptions, temperature increase, and oceanic hypoxia together lead to the PTB extinction.Recent studies show high temperature might be the key mechanism of the PTB extinction. In addition, this study confirms that the microbialites were formed in the dysoxicanoxic shallow water. | SONG HuYue TONG JinNan TIAN Li SONG HaiJun QIU HaiOu ZHU YuanYuan Thomas ALGEO | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,5: | 0
