| 4 | Impact of high strength electromagnetic fields generated by Tesla transformer on plant cell ultrastructure显示文摘Non-thermal effects of direct electric fields and alternating electromagnetic fields(EMF)have been successfully used in a number of studies and applications in agriculture and biotechnology.Among different kinds of high strength EMF generators, the Tesla transformer(TT)is known as a widely applied, low cost, and troubleproof device, which generates EMF in the range of 2-8 MHz.Despite of a number of developed and perspective applications of high strength EMFs in agriculture and biotechnology, the EMFs generated by TT,as well as the 1-50 MHz range of high strength EMF still remain unexplored in the fields of plant physiology, ultrastructure studies and biochemistry. In this work,we have shown that TT-EMFs(4 MHz)induced fast stem and petiole bending, disappearance of cell organelles, vacuolar membranes, and increase of a non-photochemical chlorophyll fluorescence quenching in petioles. It is intriguing that such fatal effects can be evoked in plants by EMFs which are well known as harmless for man at the applied strength and frequency. | Anna Rusakova Igor Nosachev Vladimir Lysenko Ya Guo Alexander Logvinov Evgeniya Kirichenko Tatyana Varduny Sergey Cherednikov Olga Chugueva | 2017 | Information Processing in Agriculture2017,4,3: | 1 |
| 5 | Identification of a three-gene prognostic signature for radioresistant esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)is causing a high mortality rate due to the lack of efficient early prognosis markers and suitable therapeutic regimens. The prognostic role of genes responsible for the acquisition of radioresistance in ESCC has not been fully elucidated.AIM To establish a prognostic model by studying gene expression patterns pertinent to radioresistance in ESCC patients.METHODS Datasets were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus and The Cancer Genome Atlas databases. The edgeR,a Bioconductor package, was used to analyze mRNA expression between different groups. We screened genes specifically responsible for radioresistance to estimate overall survival.Pearson correlation analysis was performed to confirm whether the expression of those genes correlated with each other.Genes contributing to radioresistance and overall survival were assessed by the multivariate Cox regression model through the calculation ofβi and risk score using the following formula:∑^(n)_(i=1)βi×PSI.RESULTS We identified three prognostic mRNAs(cathepsin S[CTSS],cluster of differentiation 180[CD180],and SLP adapter and CSK-interacting membrane protein[SCIMP])indicative of radioresistance. The expression of the three identified mRNAs was related to each other(r>0.70 and P<0.05).As to 1-year and 3-year overall survival prediction, the area under the time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve of the signature consisting of the three mRNAs was 0.716 and 0.841,respectively.When stratifying patients based on the risk score derived from the signature, the high-risk group exhibited a higher death risk and shorter survival time than the low-risk group(P<0.0001).Overall survival of the low-risk patients was significantly better than that of the highrisk patients(P=0.018).CONCLUSION We have developed a novel three-gene prognostic signature consisting of CTSS,CD180,and SCIMO for ESCC,which may facilitate the prediction of early prognosis of this malignancy. | Xiao-Yan Wang Narasimha M Beeraka Nan-Nan Xue Hui-Ming Yu Ya Yang Mao-Xing Liu Vladimir N Nikolenko Jun-Qi Liu Di Zhao | 2023 | World Journal of Clinical Oncology2023,14,1: | 0 |
| 6 | Boosting the piezoelectric property of relaxor ferroelectric single crystal via active manipulation of defect dipole polarization显示文摘To further enhance the property of piezoelectric materials is of great significance to improve the overall performance of electro-mechanical devices. Here in this work,we propose a thermal annealing and high temperature poling approach to achieve significantly enhanced piezoelectricity in Pb(In_(1/2)Nb_(1/2))O_(3)single bondPb(Mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)single bondPbTiO_(3)(PIN-PMN-PT)crystals with a morphotropic phase boundary(MPB)composition. The main idea of our approach is to realize a more sufficiently polarized crystal via active manipulation of defects and orientation of defect polarization.Manipulation of defect dipoles by the high temperature poling is proved by the piezo-response force microscopy. Finally,a d_(33)of 3300 pC/N and a SE of 0.25%are obtained, nearly 60%higher than that of conventionally poled crystals. Moreover, such a boosting of piezoelectric property is obtained under a maintained Curie temperature. Our research not only reveals the active control of defect dipole via modified poling method in the PIN-PMN-PT crystal, but also provides a feasible strategy to further improve the property of piezoelectric materials. | Qingyuan Hu Huimin Liao Xin Liu Li Jin Kexin Song Yongyong Zhuang Zhuo Xu Vladimir Ya Shur Xiaoyong Wei | 2023 | Journal of Materiomics2023,9,1: | 0 |
| 7 | Polychromatic Fourier-PAM fluorometry and hyperspectral analysis of chlorophyll fluorescence from Phaseolus vulgaris leaves: Effects of green light显示文摘Maximal and partial quantum yields of photosystem II(Fv/Fm and Fv–/Fp)in Phaseolus vulgaris leaves were determined in response to the turning on saturating and low(undersaturating)actinic light, accordingly.Measuring lights(ML)of blue, green, and red colors were applied simultaneously using a novel method of the polychromatic fast Fourier transforming pulse amplitude modulation(FFT PAM)chlorophyll fluorometry.Colors of ML were cross-combined with the colors of low and saturating actinic light.Fv/Fm values measured with the green ML were found to be close to that of red light, whereas application of blue ML leads to lower Fv/Fm.In addition,5-nm resolved excitation spectra were measured to evaluate the dependence between red/far red fluorescence ratios(peak height based–F685/F730,and deconvolved peak square based–F685sq/F730sq)and wavelength of the excitation light. It demonstrates that chlorophyll fluorescence ratio red/far red may be dependent on the spectral absorbance of chlorophyll. The data obtained confirm the results of the previous studies which explain high photosynthetic activity of the green light in terms of redistribution of absorbed quanta throughout thickness of the leaf, thus suggesting possible advisability of green light application in greenhouse lighting, especially for the plants having thick leaves. | Vladimir Lysenko Ya Guo Alexey Kosolapov Elena Usova Tatyana Varduny Vladimir Krasnov | 2020 | Information Processing in Agriculture2020,7,2: | 0 |
