| 1 | Transjugular intrahepatic porto 全身的分流在老: 为门高血压的复杂并发症的减轻显示文摘 AIM:To present a dedicated series of transjugular intrahepatic porto-systemic shunts(TIPS) in the elderly since data is sparse on this population group.METHODS:A retrospective review was performed of patients at least 65 years of age who underwent TIPS at our institutions between 1997 and 2010.Twentyfive patients were referred for TIPS.We deemed that 2 patients were not considered appropriate candidates due to their markedly advanced liver disease.Of the 23 patients suitable for TIPS,the indications for TIPS placement was portal hypertension complicated by refractory ascites alone(n = 9),hepatic hydrothorax alone(n = 2),refractory ascites and hydrothorax(n = 1),gastrointestinal bleeding alone(n = 8),gastrointestinal bleeding and ascites(n = 3).RESULTS:Of these 23 attempted TIPS procedure patients,21 patients had technically successful TIPS procedures.A total of 29 out of 32 TIPS procedures including revisions were successful in 21 patients with a mean age of 72.1 years(range 65-82 years).Three of the procedures were unsuccessful attempts at TIPS and 8 procedures were successful revisions of our existing TIPS.Sixteen of 21 patients who underwent successful TIPS(excluding 5 patients lost to follow-up) were followed for a mean of 14.7 mo.Ascites and/or hydrothorax was controlled following technically successful procedures in 12 of 13 patients.Bleeding was controlled following technically successful procedures in 10 out of 11 patients.CONCLUSION:We have demonstrated that TIPS is an effective procedure to control refractory complications of portal hypertension in elderly patients. | Mubin I Syed Hetal Karsan Hector Ferral Azim Shaikh Uzma Waheed Talal Akhter Alan Gabbard Kamal Morar Robert Tyrrell | 2012 | World Journal of Hepatology2012，4，2： | 4 |

| 3 | Performance of Islamic and conventional stock indices:empirical evidence from an emerging economy显示文摘Background:This study aims to investigate the extent to which the conditional volatilities of both Shari’ah compliant stock and conventional stock are related to those of interest rate and exchange rate in the emerging economy of Pakistan.Methods:We used KMI 30 and KSE 100 indices for Islamic and conventional stock for the period of July 2008 to November 2013.We employed Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedastic in the mean(GARCH-M)model.This framework relaxes constancy assumption of classical linear regression(CLRM)model and allows exchange rate and interest rate volatility to evolve over time.The GARCHM framework also reveals results about risk-return trade-off in the context of both Islamic and conventional stock indices.Results:The findings show positive and statistically significant effect of interest rate volatility on KSE-100,whereas KMI-30 remains unaffected by the same.Exchange rate volatility is found to be significant for both conventional and Islamic indices.The relationship of risk coefficient(γ)and stocks returns,as expected,is positive and statistically significant for both KMI-30 and KSE-100.This result is consistent with the theory of risk-return trade-off.The results of parametric t-test show significant difference between returns of both indices.This implies that Shari’ah compliant stock index(KMI-30)of Pakistan underperforms its conventional counterpart.Conclusion:By using different performance measures(Sharp ratio,Jensen alpha,Treynor ratio),this study also investigates the hypothesis that Islamic stock index has inferior performance compared with unscreened conventional counterparts due to availability of a smaller investment universe,increased monitoring costs,and limited diversification. | Md Ejaz Rana Waheed Akhter | 2015 | Financial Innovation2015，1，1： | 0 |
