1Extreme learning machines: new trends and applications显示文摘Extreme learning machine(ELM), as a new learning framework, draws increasing attractions in the areas of large-scale computing, high-speed signal processing, artificial intelligence, and so on. ELM aims to break the barriers between the conventional artificial learning techniques and biological learning mechanism and represents a suite of machine learning techniques in which hidden neurons need not to be tuned. ELM theories and algorithms argue that 'random hidden neurons' capture the essence of some brain learning mechanisms as well as the intuitive sense that the efficiency of brain learning need not rely on computing power of neurons.Thus, compared with traditional neural networks and support vector machine, ELM offers significant advantages such as fast learning speed, ease of implementation, and minimal human intervention. Due to its remarkable generalization performance and implementation efficiency, ELM has been applied in various applications. In this paper, we first provide an overview of newly derived ELM theories and approaches. On the other hand,with the ongoing development of multilayer feature representation, some new trends on ELM-based hierarchical learning are discussed. 2An improved analytical model of cutting temperature in orthogonal cutting of Ti6Al4V显示文摘Cutting heat has significant effects on the machined surface integrity of titanium alloys in the aerospace field. Many unwanted problems such as surface burning, work hardening, and tool wear can be induced by high cutting temperatures. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately predict the cutting temperature of titanium alloys. In this paper, an improved analytical model of the cutting temperature in orthogonal cutting of titanium alloys is proposed based on the Komanduri-Hou model and the Huang-Liang model. The temperatures at points in a cutting tool, chip, and workpiece are calculated by using the moving heat source method. The tool relief angle is introduced into the proposed model, and imaginary mirrored heat sources of the shear plane heat source and the frictional heat source are applied to calculate the temperature rise in a semi-infinite medium. The heat partition ratio along the tool-chip interface is determined by the discretization method. For validation purpose, orthogonal cutting of titanium alloy Ti6Al4V is performed on a lathe by using a sharp tool. Experimental results show to be consistent well with those of the proposed model,yielding a relative difference of predicted temperature from 0.49% to 9.00%. 4Surface nanobubbles on the hydrophobic surface and their implication to flotation显示文摘Nanobubbles play a potential role in the application of the flotation of fine particles.In this work,the identification of nanoentities was performed with a contact mode atomic force microscope(AFM).Moreover,the influences of setpoint ratio and amplitude of the cantilever and the responses of the formed surface nanobubbles to the fluctuation of pH,salt concentration,and surfactant concentration in the slurry were respectively studied.Nanobubbles were reported on the highly oriented pyrolytic graphite(HOPG)surface as the HOPG was immersed in de-ionized water under ambient temperature.The coalescence of nanobubbles occurred under contact mode,which provides strong evidence of the gaseous nature of these nanostructures on HOPG.The measuring height of the surface nanobubbles decreased with the setpoint ratio.The changes in the pH and concentration of methyl isobutyl carbinol(MIBC)show a negligible influence on the lateral size and height of the preex-isting surface nanobubbles.The addition of LiCl results in a negligible change of the lateral size;however,an obvious change is noticed in the height of surface nanobubbles.The results are expected to provide a valuable reference in understanding the properties of surface nanobubbles and in the design of nanobubble-assisted flotation processes.Chenwei Li Danlong Li Xin Li Ming Xu Haijun Zhang 2022International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,8:1
5Understanding the Correlations between Social Attention and Topic Trends of Scientific Publications显示文摘Purpose:We propose and apply a simplified nowcasting model to understand the correlations between social attention and topic trends of scientific publications.Design/methodology/approach:First,topics are generated from the obesity corpus by using the latent Dirichlet allocation(LDA) algorithm and time series of keyword search trends in Google Trends are obtained.We then establish the structural time series model using data from January 2004 to December 2012,and evaluate the model using data from January 2013.We employ a state-space model to separate different non-regression components in an observational time series(i.e.the tendency and the seasonality) and apply the 'spike and slab prior' and stepwise regression to analyze the correlations between the regression component and the social media attention.The two parts are combined using Markov-chain Monte Carlo sampling techniques to obtain our results.Findings:The results of our study show that(1) the number of publications on child obesity increases at a lower rate than that of diabetes publications;(2) the number of publication on a given topic may exhibit a relationship with the season or time of year;and(3) there exists a correlation between the number of publications on a given topic and its social media attention,i.e.the search frequency related to that topic as identified by Google Trends.We found that our model is also able to predict the number of publications related to a given topic.Research limitations:First,we study a correlation rather than causality between topics' trends and social media.As a result,the relationships might not be robust,so we cannotpredict the future in the long run.Second,we cannot identify the reasons or conditions that are driving obesity topics to present such tendencies and seasonal patterns,so we might need to do 'field' study in the future.Third,we need to improve the efficiency of our model by finding more efficient variable selection models,because the stepwise regression method is time consuming,especially for a large number of variables.Practical implications:This paper analyzes publication topic trends from three perspectives:tendency,seasonality,and correlation with social media attention,providing a new perspective for identifying and understanding topical themes in academic publications.Originality/value:To the best of our knowledge,we are the first to apply the state-space model to examine the relationships between healthcare-related publications and social media to investigate the relationships between a topic's evolvement and people's search behavior in social media.This paper thus provides a new viewpoint in the correlation analysis area,and demonstrates the value of considering social media attention in the analysis of publication topic trends.Xianlei Dong Jian Xu Ying Ding Chenwei Zhang Kunpeng Zhang Min Song 2016Journal of Data and Information Science2016,1,1:1

7Reducing the carbon emissions from Qianxi tomato fruits preservation by cold atmospheric plasma显示文摘China has pledged to reach its dual-carbon goals(i.e.,carbon peak and carbon neutrality)at the end of 2060.To reduce carbon emission in food preservation industry,the preservation effects of cold atmospheric plasma intermittent treatment(1 min/6 h each day,PL4)combined with 15℃ and 4℃ only on Qianxi tomato fruits during 7 d storage were investigated.Results indicated that the firmness,L*,sensory taste,glutathione(GSH)content,mineral(Fe,P,K)content,polyphenol oxidase activity of PL4 tomatoes were significantly increased than that in Control during earlier period storage,with worse weight loss,titratable acid,a*,b*,lycopene content,·OH radical scavenging capacity and same moisture content,total soluble solids,polysaccharide content,total phenolics content,total flavonoid content,ascorbic acid content,1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging capacity,pectin methylesterase activity.Moreover,the power and R134a consumption of PL4 were highly decreased by around 56.4 kW·h and 0.3 g respectively during whole storage as compared to Control,and reduced more than 99.8%carbon emission based on equipment using stage.All in all,this study illustrated that PL4 treatment can be applied as an ecofriendly,low carbon and sustainable preservation strategy for short-term storage of fruits under 4℃ or higher temperature.Tao Jin Yan Chen Chenwei Dai Jimin Deng Qinghua Xu Zhengwei Wu 2023International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2023,16,5:0
8Hail impact responses and residual tensile properties of CFRP T-joints显示文摘Hail impact is a major challenge encountered by aircraft in flight,and thus is a key concern in the design of damage-tolerant composite T-joints in aviation.The study uses the Z-pinning technique(the pre-hole insertion technology)in combination with fillets of two radiuses to manufacture four types of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers(CFRP)T-joints.The T-joints are then subjected to hail impact tests at two energy levels,as well as post-impact quasi-static tensile tests.The results show that increasing the size of the deltoid and Z-pin-induced reinforcement has a limited influence on the responses of the T-joints to hail impact,but a significant influence on their residual tensile strength after impact.These influences are not only dependent on the structural characteristics of the T-joints,but are also closely related to the degree of discrete damage within the T-joints caused by hail impact.Acoustic Emission(AE)technology is used to monitor the quantitative evolution of damage to the T-joints in a timely manner during the loading process,and helps characterize the characteristics of evolution of various types of damage over different periods.The research here can help design lightweight and damage-tolerant T-joints.Jianwu ZHOU Zhibin ZHAO Yaoyao SHI Xu WANG Xiaopeng CHEN Chenwei SHAN 2023Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,7:0
9Monolithic three-dimensional integration of aligned carbon nanotube transistors for high-performance integrated circuits显示文摘Carbon nanotube field-effect transistors(CNT FETs)have been demonstrated to exhibit high performance only through low-temperature fabrication process and require a low thermal budget to construct monolithic three-dimensional(M3D)integrated circuits(ICs),which have been considered a promising tech-nology to meet the demands of high-bandwidth computing and fully func-tional integration.However,the lack of high-quality CNT materials at the upper layer and a low-parasitic interlayer dielectric(ILD)makes the reported M3D CNT FETs and ICs unable to provide the predicted high performance.In this work,we demonstrate a multilayer stackable process for M3D integration of high-performance aligned carbon nanotube(A-CNT)transistors and ICs.A low-κ(-3)interlayer SiO_(2)layer is prepared from spin-on-glass(SOG)through processes with a highest temperature of 220℃,presenting low parasitic capaci-tance between two transistor layers and excellent planarization to offer an ideal surface for the A-CNT and device fabrication process.A high-quality A-CNT film with a carrier mobility of 650 cm 2 V^(-1)s^(-1)is prepared on the ILD layer through a clean transfer process,enabling the upper CNT FETs fabri-cated with a low-temperature process to exhibit high on-state current(1 mAμm^(-1))and peak transconductance(0.98 mSμm^(-1)).The bottom A-CNT FETs maintain pristine high performance after undergoing the ILD growth and upper FET fabrication.As a result,5-stage ring oscillators utilizing the M3D architecture show a gate propagation delay of 17 ps and an active region of approximately 100μm 2,representing the fastest and the most compact M3D ICs to date.Chenwei Fan Xiaohan Cheng Lin Xu Maguang Zhu Sujuan Ding Chuanhong Jin Yunong Xie Lian-Mao Peng Zhiyong Zhang 2023InfoMat2023,5,7:0
10Creep feed grinding induced gradient microstructures in the superficial layer of turbine blade root of single crystal nickel-based superalloy显示文摘The service performance of the turbine blade root of an aero-engine depends on the microstructures in its superficial layer.This work investigated the surface deformation structures of turbine blade root of single crystal nickel-based superalloy produced under different creep feed grinding conditions.Gradient microstructures in the superficial layer were clarified and composed of a severely deformed layer(DFL)with nano-sized grains(48–67 nm)at the topmost surface,a DFL with submicron-sized grains(66–158 nm)and micron-sized laminated structures at the subsurface,and a dislocation accumulated layer extending to the bulk material.The formation of such gradient microstructures was found to be related to the graded variations in the plastic strain and strain rate induced in the creep feed grinding process,which were as high as 6.67 and 8.17×10^(7)s^(−1),respectively.In the current study,the evolution of surface gradient microstructures was essentially a transition process from a coarse single crystal to nano-sized grains and,simultaneously,from one orientation of a single crystal to random orientations of polycrystals,during which the dislocation slips dominated the creep feed grinding induced microstructure deformation of single crystal nickel-based superalloy.Qing Miao Wenfeng Ding Jiuhua Xu Lijie Cao Hongcai Wang Zhen Yin Chenwei Dai Weijie Kuang 2021International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing2021,3,4:0
