1Blocking FSH inhibits hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis and reduces serum cholesterol显示文摘Menopause is associated with dyslipidemia and an increased risk of cardio-cerebrovascular disease.The classic view assumes that the underlying mechanism of dyslipidemia is attributed to an insufficiency of estrogen.In addition to a decrease in estrogen, circulating follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)levels become elevated at menopause.In this study,we find that blocking FSH reduces serum cholesterol via inhibiting hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis.First,epidemiological results show that the serum FSH levels are positively correlated with the serum total cholesterol levels,even after adjustment by considering the effects of serum estrogen,in addition,the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia is significantly higher in peri-menopausal women than that in premenopausal women.Furthermore,we generated a mouse model of FSH elevation by intraperitoneally injecting exogenous FSH into ovariectomized (OVX)mice,in which a normal level of estrogen (E2)was maintained by exogenous supplementation. Consistently,the results indicate that FSH,independent of estrogen,increases the serum cholesterol level in this mouse model. 3Methyl jasmonate mediates melatonin-induced cold tolerance of grafted watermelon plants显示文摘Root–shoot communication has a critical role in plant adaptation to environmental stress.Grafting is widely applied to enhance the abiotic stress tolerance of many horticultural crop species;however,the signal transduction mechanism involved in this tolerance remains unknown.Here,we show that pumpkin-or figleaf gourd rootstock-enhanced cold tolerance of watermelon shoots is accompanied by increases in the accumulation of melatonin,methyl jasmonate(MeJA),and hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2)).Increased melatonin levels in leaves were associated with both increased melatonin in rootstocks and MeJA-induced melatonin biosynthesis in leaves of plants under cold stress.Exogenous melatonin increased the accumulation of MeJA and H_(2)O_(2) and enhanced cold tolerance,while inhibition of melatonin accumulation attenuated rootstock-induced MeJA and H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance.MeJA application induced H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance,but inhibition of JA biosynthesis abolished rootstock-or melatonin-induced H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance.Additionally,inhibition of H_(2)O_(2) production attenuated MeJA-induced tolerance to cold stress.Taken together,our results suggest that melatonin is involved in grafting-induced cold tolerance by inducing the accumulation of MeJA and H_(2)O_(2).MeJA subsequently increases melatonin accumulation,forming a self-amplifying feedback loop that leads to increased H_(2)O_(2) accumulation and cold tolerance.This study reveals a novel regulatory mechanism of rootstock-induced cold tolerance.Hao Li Yanliang Guo Zhixiang Lan Kai Xu Jingjing Chang Golam Jalal Ahammed Jianxiang Ma Chunhua Wei Xian Zhang 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:5

5RNA-seq profiling reveals differentially expressed genes as potential markers for vital reaction in skin contusion: a pilot study显示文摘Detection of the vitality of wounds is essential in forensic practice.The present study used Illumina RNA-seq technology to determine gene expression profiles in contused mouse skin.In obtained high quality sequencing reads,the reads were mapped onto a reference transcriptome (Mus_musculus.GRCm38.83).The results revealed that there were 659 upregulated and 996 down-regulated differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in contused mouse skin.The DEGs were further analyzed using the Gene Ontology and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes databases.Genes from different functional categories and signalling pathways were enriched,including the immune system process,immune response,defense response,cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction,complement and coagulation cascades and chemokine signalling pathway.Expression patterns of 11 DEGs were verified by RT-qPCR in mice skins.In addition,alterations of five DEGs were also analyzed in postmortem human wound samples.The results were in concordance with the results of RNA-seq.These findings suggest that RNA-seq is a powerful tool to reveal DEGs as potential markers for vital reaction in terms of forensic practices.Jingtao Xu Rui Zhao Ye Xue Huanqin Xiao Yanliang Sheng Dong Zhao Jietao He Hongyan Huang Qi Wang Huijun Wang 2018Forensic Sciences Research2018,3,2:3
6Corrosion behavior of Q235B carbon steel in simulated seawater pumped storage system under operational conditions显示文摘Seawater pumped storage systems have bright prospect for energy storage in the coming years.The operational conditions of seawater pumped storage system are complex and harsh,where metal materials suff er from severe general and local corrosion.The corrosion behavior of Q235B carbon steel in simulated seawater pumped storage system under operational conditions was studied by potentiodynamic polarization,cyclic potentiodynamic polarization,and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The results confi rm that the working pressure aff ected the corrosion resistance of Q235B carbon steel during the whole immersion period.The pressure promoted the electrochemical reaction of corrosion process and the corrosion rate increased with pressure at the initial immersion period.However,the stable rust layer formed after longtime immersion at diff erent pressures increased the corrosion resistance of carbon steel,and decreased the corrosion degree of carbon steel.Meanwhile,the working pressure aff ected the pitting corrosion behavior of Q235B carbon steel during the whole immersion period.The pitting corrosion potential was more negative and the tendency of pitting corrosion was higher at 4 MPa during the whole immersion period.However,pressure also accelerated the formation rate of protective rust layer on the steel surface.Q235B carbon steel has higher susceptibility to pitting corrosion at 4 MPa in the static seawater.YANG Dan HUANG Yanliang LI Jianqiu GAO Yanming ZHAO Xia XU Weichen 2020Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,5:2

11Electro-oxidation of Ni(Ⅱ)-citrate complexes at BDD electrode and simultaneous recovery of metallic nickel by electrodeposition显示文摘The simultaneous electro-oxidation of Ni(Ⅱ)-citrate and electrodeposition recovery of nickel metal were attempted in a combined electro-oxidation-electrodeposition reactor with a boron-doped diamond(BDD)anode and a polished titanium cathode.Effects of initial nickel citrate concentration,current density,initial p H,electrode spacing,electrolyte type,and initial electrolyte dosage on electrochemical performance were examined.The efficiencies of Ni(Ⅱ)-citrate removal and nickel metal recovery were determined to be 100%and over 72%,respectively,under the optimized conditions(10 m A/cm^(2),pH 4.09,80 mmol/L Na_(2)SO_(4),initial Ni(Ⅱ)-citrate concentration of 75 mg/L,electrode spacing of 1 cm,and 180 min of electrolysis).Energy consumption increased with increased current density,and the energy consumption was 0.032 kWh/L at a current density of 10 m A/cm^(2)(pH 6.58).The deposits at the cathode were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy-dispersive spectrometry(EDS),X-ray diffraction(XRD),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).These characterization results indicated that the purity of metallic nickel in cathodic deposition was over 95%.The electrochemical system exhibited a prospective approach to oxidize metal complexes and recover metallic nickel.Qiongfang Zhuo Xiaofeng Xu Shuibo Xie Xiuwen Ren Zhongying Chen Bo Yang Yanliang Li Junfeng Niu 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,6:1

15Novel 3D grid porous Li_(4)Ti_(5)O_(12) thick electrodes fabricated by 3D printing for high performance lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D)grid porous electrodes introduce vertically aligned pores as a convenient path for the transport of lithium-ions(Li-ions),thereby reducing the total transport distance of Li-ions and improving the reaction kinetics.Although there have been other studies focusing on 3D electrodes fabricated by 3D printing,there still exists a gap between electrode design and their electrochemical performance.In this study,we try to bridge this gap through a comprehensive investigation on the effects of various electrode parameters including the electrode porosity,active material particle diameter,electrode electronic conductivity,electrode thickness,line width,and pore size on the electrochemical performance.Both numerical simulations and experimental investigations are conducted to systematically examine these effects.3D grid porous Li_(4)Ti_(5)O_(12)(LTO)thick electrodes are fabricated by low temperature direct writing technology and the electrodes with the thickness of 1085μm and areal mass loading of 39.44 mg·cm^(−2) are obtained.The electrodes display impressive electrochemical performance with the areal capacity of 5.88 mAh·cm^(−2)@1.0 C,areal energy density of 28.95 J·cm^(−2)@1.0 C,and areal power density of 8.04 mW·cm^(−2)@1.0 C.This study can provide design guidelines for obtaining 3D grid porous electrodes with superior electrochemical performance.Changyong LIU Yin QIU Yanliang LIU Kun XU Ning ZHAO Changshi LAO Jun SHEN Zhangwei CHEN 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,2:1
