| 1 | Silicon photonic platforms for mid-infrared applications [Invited]显示文摘Silicon photonic integrated circuits for telecommunication and data centers have been well studied in the past decade, and now most related efforts have been progressing toward commercialization. Scaling up the silicon-oninsulator(SOI)-based device dimensions in order to extend the operation wavelength to the short mid-infrared(MIR) range(2–4 μm) is attracting research interest, owing to the host of potential applications in lab-on-chip sensors, free space communications, and much more. Other material systems and technology platforms, including silicon-on-silicon nitride, germanium-on-silicon, germanium-on-SOI, germanium-on-silicon nitride, sapphireon-silicon, Si Ge alloy-on-silicon, and aluminum nitride-on-insulator are explored as well in order to realize low-loss waveguide devices for different MIR wavelengths. In this paper, we will comprehensively review silicon photonics for MIR applications, with regard to the state-of-the-art achievements from various device demonstrations in different material platforms by various groups. We will then introduce in detail of our institute's research and development efforts on the MIR photonic platforms as one case study. Meanwhile, we will discuss the integration schemes along with remaining challenges in devices(e.g., light source) and integration. A few application-oriented examples will be examined to illustrate the issues needing a critical solution toward the final production path(e.g., gas sensors). | 2 | Infiltrating lithium into carbon doth decorated with zinc oxide arrays for dendrite-free lithium metal anode显示文摘Lithium metal anode for batteries has attracted extensive attentions, but its application is restricted by the hazardous dendritic Li growth and dead Li formation. To address these issues, a novel Li anode is developed by infiltrating molten Li metal into conductive carbon cloth decorated with zinc oxide arrays. In carbonate-based electrolyte, the symmetric cell shows no short circuit over 1,500 h at 1 mA·cm^-2, and stable voltage profiles at 3 mA cm^-2 for ~ 300 h cycling. A low overpotential of ~ 243 mV over 350 cycles at a high current density of 10 mA·cm^-2 is achieved, compared to the seriously fluctuated voltage and fast short circuit in the cell using bare Li metal. Meanwhile, the asymmetric cell withstands 1,000 cycles at 10 C (1 C = 167 mAh·g^-1) compared to the 210 cycles for the cell using bare Li anode. | 3 | Wide-steering-angle high-resolution optical phased array显示文摘Optical phased array(OPA)technology is considered a promising solution for solid-state beam steering to supersede the traditional mechanical beam steering.As a key component of the LIDAR system for long-range detection,OPAs featuring a wide steering angle and high resolution without beam aliasing are highly desired.However,a wide steering range requires a waveguide pitch less than half of the wavelength,which is easily subjected to cross talk.Besides,high resolution requires a large aperture,and it is normally achieved by a high count number of waveguides,which complicates the control system.To solve the mentioned issues,we design two high-performance 128-channel OPAs fabricated on a multilayered SiN-on-SOI platform.Attributed to the nonuniform antenna pitch,only 128 waveguides are used to achieve a 4 mm wide aperture.Besides,by virtue of innovative dual-level silicon nitride(Si_(3)N_(4))waveguide grating antennas,the fishbone antenna OPA achieves a 100°×19.4°field of view(FOV)with divergence of 0.021°×0.029°,and the chain antenna OPA realizes a 140°×19.23°FOV with divergence of 0.021°×0.1°.To our best knowledge,140°is the widest lateral steering range in two-dimensional OPA,and 0.029°is the smallest longitudinal divergence.Finally,we embed the OPA into a frequency-modulated continuous-wave system to achieve 100 m distance measurement.The reflected signal from 100 m distance is well detected with 26 dBm input transmitter power,which proves that OPA serves as a promising candidate for transceiving optical signal in a LIDAR system. | YINGZHI LI BAISONG CHEN QUANXIN NA QIJIE XIE MIN TAO LANXUAN ZHANG ZIHAO ZHI YUXUAN LI XIAOBIN LIU XIANSHU LUO GUOQIANG LO FENGLI GAO XUEYAN LI JUNFENG SONG | 2021 | Photonics Research2021,9,12: | 7 |

| 5 | Downregulated cytotoxic CD8^(+)T-cell identifies with the NKG2A-soluble HLA-E axis as a predictive biomarker and potential therapeutic target in keloids显示文摘Keloids are an abnormal fibroproliferative wound-healing disease with a poorly understood pathogenesis,making it difficult to predict and prevent this disease in clinical settings.Identifying disease-specific signatures at the molecular and cellular levels in both the blood circulation and primary lesions is urgently needed to develop novel biomarkers for risk assessment and therapeutic targets for recurrence-free treatment.There is mounting evidence of immune cell dysregulation in keloid scarring.In this study,we aimed to profile keloid scar tissues and blood cells and found that downregulation of cytotoxic CD8^(+)T cells is a keloid signature in the peripheral blood and keloid lesions.Single-cell RNA sequencing revealed that the NKG2A/CD94 complex was specifically upregulated,which might contribute to the significant reduction in CTLs within the scar tissue boundary.In addition,the NKG2A/CD94 complex was associated with high serum levels of soluble human leukocyte antigen-E(sHLA-E).We subsequently measured sHLA-E in our hospital-based study cohort,consisting of 104 keloid patients,512 healthy donors,and 100 patients with an interfering disease.The sensitivity and specificity of sHLA-E were 83.69%(87/104)and 92.16%(564/612),respectively,and hypertrophic scars and other unrelated diseases exhibited minimal interference with the test results.Furthermore,intralesional therapy with triamcinolone combined with 5-fluorouracil drastically decreased the sHLA-E levels in keloid patients with better prognostic outcomes,while an incomplete reduction in the sHLA-E levels in patient serum was associated with higher recurrence.sHLA-E may effectively serve as a diagnostic marker for assessing the risk of keloid formation and a prognostic marker for the clinical outcomes of intralesional treatment. | Heng Xu Zhu Zhu Jian Hu Jiawei Sun Yan Wo Xianshu Wang Hongzhi Zou Bin Li Yixin Zhang | 2022 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,4: | 3 |
| 6 | Iron Species-Impregnated Granular Activated Carbon as Modified Particle Electrodes Applied in Benzothiazole Adsorption and Electrocatalytic Degradation显示文摘The object of this study is to prepare iron species-impregnated granular activated carbon as particle electrodes in order to improve their adsorption and electrocatalytic degradation capacity in Benzothiazole removal.The incorporation of Fe-containing catalysts was performed by Fe(NO_3)_3 impregnation.The obtained samples were characterized by BET,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,SEM-EDS,powder X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectra and TG.Compared with pure activated carbon,this modified particle electrodes show higher static adsorption capacities and TOC removal,which have respectively increased by25.9% and 54.4%.Both physisorption and chemisorption exist in the process of benzothiazole adsorption,where the latter plays a major role.In this way,the Fe-containing catalysts on modified particle electrodes are demonstrated to make a greater contribution to the improvement of electrocatalytic degradation by decreasing the activated energy by 32%. | jie ding dihui song xianshu liu zhao song gaofeng wu | 2017 | Journal of Harbin Institute of Technology(New Series)2017,24,3: | 2 |
| 7 | Electrostatic Interaction Tailored Anion-Rich Solvation Sheath Stabilizing High-Voltage Lithium Metal Batteries显示文摘Through tailoring interfacial chemistry,electrolyte engineering is a facile yet effective strategy for highperformance lithium(Li)metal batteries,where the solvation structure is critical for interfacial chemistry.Herein,the effect of electrostatic interaction on regulating an anion-rich solvation is firstly proposed.The moderate electrostatic interaction between anion and solvent promotes anion to enter the solvation sheath,inducing stable solid electrolyte interphase with fast Li+transport kinetics on the anode.This asdesigned electrolyte exhibits excellent compatibility with Li metal anode(a Li deposition/stripping Coulombic efficiency of 99.3%)and high-voltage LiCoO_(2) cathode.Consequently,the 50μm-thin Li||high-loading LiCoO_(2) cells achieve significantly improved cycling performance under stringent conditions of high voltage over 4.5 V,lean electrolyte,and wide temperature range(-20 to 60℃).This work inspires a groundbreaking strategy to manipulate the solvation structure through regulating the interactions of solvent and anion for highperformance Li metal batteries. | Junru Wu Ziyao Gao Yao Wang Xu Yang Qi Liu Dong Zhou Xianshu Wang Feiyu Kang Baohua Li | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,9: | 1 |
