| 1 | The Origin and Tectonic Significance of the Volcanic Rocks of the Yeba Formation in the Gangdese Magmatic Belt, South Tibet显示文摘Zircon U-Pb geochronology, Hf isotope and whole-rock geochemistry were performed on the tuffs of the Yeba Formation in the Gangdese magmatic belt, South Tibet. The results are used to detail the age, source nature and tectonic processes that led to the formation of the Gangdese belt. Dating results indicate that the rhyolitic-andesitic tuffs were formed at 174–170 Ma. Positive and variable zircon ε_(Hf)(t) values of the rhyolitic tuffs reveal that the source was dominated by juvenile material, however, experienced crustal contamination. The basaltic tuffs have low HREEs, high contents of compatible elements(V and Cr) and no Eu anomaly. In contrast, the rhyolitic-andesitic tuffs show low compatible trace elements, depletion in Eu but enrichment in incompatible elements(Rb, Zr and Hf). According to the discrimination diagrams of P_2O_5-SiO_2 and Th-Rb, the rhyolitic-andesitic tuffs show a close affinity to Ⅰ-type granitoids. Moreover, these tuffs are marked by significant depletion in Nb, Ta and Ti, plotted in calc-alkaline field, and with the andesitic-rhyolitic tuffs falling into an active continental margin setting. | 2 | The evidence for the existence of methane seepages in the northern South China Sea:abnormal high methane concentrations in bottom waters显示文摘The methane concentration of water samples at five stations collected by the CTD rosette water sampler in the areas of southwest Dongsha Islands and the Xisha Trough was analyzed by the gas-stripping method on aboard ship. It shows abnormal high methane concentrations in near bottom water samples at three stations. In the southwest Dongsha Islands area, the methane concentration of 4.25 and 10.64 nmol/dm3 occurs in near bottom water samples at Stas E105A and E106, respectively. In the Xisha Trough area, the high methane concentrations of 5.17, 8.48 and 8.70 nmol/dm3 in water depths of 1 750, 1 900 and 2 050 m, respectively, have been observed at Sta. E413. It is believed that the abnormal high methane concentrations are generated from the leakage of methane from sediments. Combining with previous geophysical and geochemical data from these two areas, this was probably related to the submarine gas hydrates decomposition and cold seep system. In May 2007, gas hydrate samples were successfully obtained by the drilling in the Shenhu Sea area located in the southwest Dongsha Islands area. | 3 | Analysis and external validation of a nomogram to predict peritoneal dissemination in gastric cancer显示文摘Objective:Peritoneal dissemination is difficult to diagnose by conventional imaging technologies.We aimed to construct a nomogram to predict peritoneal dissemination in gastric cancer(GC)patients.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 1,112 GC patients in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center between2001 and 2010 as the development set and 474 patients from The Sixth Affiliated Hospital,Sun Yat-sen University between 2010 and 2016 as the validation set.The clinicopathological variables associated with gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination(GCPD)were analyzed.We used logistic regression analysis to identify independent risk factors for peritoneal dissemination.Then,we constructed a nomogram for the prediction of GCPD and defined its predictive value with a receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.External validation was performed to validate the applicability of the nomogram.Results:In total,250 patients were histologically identified as having peritoneal dissemination.Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that age,sex,tumor location,tumor size,signet-ring cell carcinoma(SRCC),T stage,N stage and Borrmann classification IV(Borrmann IV)were independent risk factors for peritoneal dissemination.We constructed a nomogram consisting of these eight factors to predict GCPD and found an optimistic predictive capability,with a C-index of 0.791,an area under the curve(AUC)of 0.791,and a 95%confidence interval(95%CI)of 0.762-0.820.The results found in the external validation set were also promising.Conclusions:We constructed a highly sensitive nomogram that can assist clinicians in the early diagnosis of GCPD and serve as a reference for optimizing clinical management strategies. | Xijie Chen Shi Chen Xinyou Wang Runcong Nie Dongwen Chen Jun Xiang Yijia Lin Yingbo Chen Junsheng Peng | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,2: | 6 |
| 4 | A nomogram to predict prognosis for gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination显示文摘Objective: To identify independent prognostic factors to be included in a nomogram to predict the prognosis of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination.Methods: This is a retrospective study on 684 patients with a histological diagnosis of gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination from the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center as the development set, and 62 gastric cancer patients from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University as the validation group. Chi-square test and Cox regression analysis were used to compare the clinicopathological variables and the prognosis of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination. The Harrell's concordance index(C-index) and calibration curve were determined for comparisons of predictive ability of the nomogram.Results: Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that serum carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) level(P=0.032), ascites grading(P=0.008), presence of extraperitoneal metastasis(P<0.001), seeding status(P=0.016) and performance status(P=0.009) were independent prognostic factors for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination in the development set. The nomogram model was constructed using these five factors. Internal validation showed that the C-index of the model was 0.641. For the external validation, the C-index of this model was 0.709.Conclusions: We developed and validated a nomogram to predict the prognosis for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination. | 5 | Source and spatial distributions of particulate organic carbon and its isotope in surface waters of Prydz Bay, Antarctica, during summer显示文摘In this study, we investigated the distributions of sea-surface suspended particulate organic carbon(POC) and its stable isotope(δ13CPOC) in Prydz Bay, Antarctica, and examined the factors infl uencing their distribution, sources, and transport. We used measurements collected from 61 stations in Prydz Bay during the 29 th Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition, in combination with remote sensing data on sea surface temperature(SST), chlorophyll a concentration, and sea ice coverage. The POC concentration in the surface waters of Prydz Bay was 0.28–0.84 mg·L-1, with an average concentration of 0.48 mg·L-1. The δ13CPOC value ranged from-29.68‰ to-26.30‰, with an average of-28.01‰. The concentration of suspended POC was highest in near-shore areas and in western Prydz Bay. The POC concentration was correlated with chlorophyll a concentration and sea ice coverage, suggesting that POC was associated with phytoplankton production in local water columns, while the growth of phytoplankton was obviously affected by sea ice coverage. The δ13CPOC value in suspended particles decreased gradually towards the outer waters of Prydz Bay, while in eastern Prydz Bay the δ13CPOC value become gradually more negative from nearshore to deep-water areas, suggesting that δ13CPOC was mainly infl uenced by CO2 fixation by phytoplankton. | 6 | Denitrification in Qi'ao Island coastal zone,the Zhujiang Estuary in China显示文摘Samples of sediments and the overlying water were collected in the Qi'ao Island coastal zone,the Zhujiang(Pearl River) Estuary(ZE).Denitrification rates,sediment oxygen demand(SOD),and fluxes of inorganic nitrogen compounds were investigated with N2 flux method,using a self-designed continuous flow through and auto-sampling system.The results indicate that the denitrification rates varied between 222 and 908 μmol/(m2·h) with an average of 499 μmol /(m2·h).During incubation,the sediments absorbed dissolved oxygen in the overlying water with SOD ranging from 300 to 2 363 μmol/(m2·h).The denitrification rates were highly correlated with the SOD(r2=0.77) regardless of the NO-3+NO-2 concentrations in the overlying water,organic carbon contents in sediments and water temperature,suggesting that the SOD was probably the main environmental factor controlling the denitrification in the Qi'ao Island coastal zone.There was a net flux of NO-3+NO-2 into the sediments from the overlying water.The NH+4 flux from sediments into water as the result of mineralization was between 12.3 and 210.3 μmol/(m2·h),which seems limited by both organic carbon content in sediment and dissolved oxygen concentration in the overlying water. | WANG Hu ZHOU Huaiyang PENG Xiaotong YANG Qunhui QIN Chaomei YIN Xijie CHEN Guangqian | 2009 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2009,28,1: | 4 |
| 7 | Growth model of a hydrothermal low-temperature Si-rich chimney:Example from the CDE hydrothermal field,Lau Basin显示文摘The CDE hydrothermal field was first discovered during a Chinese cruise to the East Lau Basin Spreading Centre in 2007.Apart from significant amounts of loose Fe-Si-Mn(oxyhydr) oxide(referred to as oxide below) precipitates,a small Si-rich oxide chimney was also recovered on this cruise.In this study,we report on the mineralogical and geochemical analyses of this chimney and a model for its growth that has been developed.Based on the mineralogy and O isotope results,the chimney walls can be divided into four growth generations(layers) from the inner to the outer layers:amorphous opal and barite layer(precipitation temperature 68.5°C based on oxygen isotope determinations),a rod-like amorphous layer(precipitation temperature 39.6°C),a filamentous Fe-Si oxide layer,and an outer Fe-Mn oxide layer.Investigations based on SEM and EDS showed that neutrophilic Fe-oxidizing bacteria play an important role in the formation of this chimney,particularly in the outer two generations.In the first stage,the metabolic activity of the microbes results in the pervasive precipitation of the filamentous Fe-rich oxides inside a ring formed by some amorphous opal and barite;therefore,a loose porous layer forms.In the second stage,amorphous opal then precipitates inside this wall as a result of conductive cooling and gradually controls the mixing between the hydrothermal fluids and ambient seawaters.In the third stage,barite and some amorphous opal form from the higher temperature fluids at the summit of the chimney growth history.In the last stage,the chimney wall becomes thicker and denser and the exchange of hydrothermal fluids and seawater ceases.As a result,a Fe-Mn oxide layer precipitates onto the outer surface of the chimney wall as neutrophilic Fe-oxidizing bacteria reoccupy the surface of the chimney.This mineral sequence and the resultant growth generations are confirmed by the chemical characteristics of the chimney wall.Sr isotopes extracted from the Fe oxides of the four-generation wall generally show a decreasing trend of the 87 Sr/86 Sr ratios from the second layer to the inner layer(from 0.707008 to 0.705877) except for the outer layer(0.706502).The Sr isotope and chondrite normalized REE patterns of the corresponding bulk samples from the chimney wall also display a similar trend.Our study shows that the biogenic filament network plays a key role in the formation of the chimney in contrast to previous growth models of higher temperature chimneys,which often ignore the influence of biogenic factors. | SUN ZhiLei ZHOU HuaiYang YANG QunHui YIN XiJie WANG Hu YAO HuiQiang DONG CongFang | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,10: | 4 |

| 9 | Geochemistry and Petrogenesis of Late Cretaceous–Paleocene Granites from the Tengchong Block, Western Yunnan: Implications for Angle-switching of Subducting Slab显示文摘The Cenozoic geological hallmark of Western Yunnan is the characteristic voluminous Late Cretaceous-Eocene granites;however, their geological background and petrogenesis have not been well constrained and elucidated. In this study, we present new zircon U-Pb dating, along with geochemical and Sr-Nd-Hf isotopic data for granites from the Tengchong–Lianghe granitoid belt(as abbreviated to Tengliang belt) and West Yingjiang batholiths from the Tengchong block. The mineralogical and geochemical features of the Tengliang granites and the West Yingjiang batholiths are ascribed to aluminous S-type granites and weak peraluminous I-type, respectively. Zircon U-Pb analyses yielded consistent ages ranging from 67.5 Ma, 68.4 Ma and 66.2 Ma from the Tengliang granitoid belt and 50.4 Ma to 60.8 Ma for three samples from the west Yingjiang batholiths. The Tengliang granites were emplaced during the Late Cretaceous(68-66 Ma) and demonstrate negative ε_(Hf)(t) values(-24 to-4) and initial ~(87)Sr/~(86)Sr ratios of 0.7101–0.7139 and significant negative ε_(Nd)(t) values from-8.91 to-13.2, indicating a Proterozoic sedimentary source or enriched components. The hornblende-bearing I-type granites from West Yingjiang are characterized by lower initial ~(87)Sr/~(86)Sr ratios of 0.7076–0.7106, compared to Tengliang granite and negative whole-rock ε_(Nd)(t) values from-4.0 to-11.9. The early Eocene west Yingjiang gneissic granites show wide ranges of ε_(Hf)(t) values from +7.4 to-8.5 and T_(2DM) of 1.30–0.65 Ga, indicating partial melting of ancient crust with contributions of depleted mantle materials. In combination with the regional background and previous studies, we propose that such a spatio-temporal distribution of the Tengchong granitoid belt might be related to the rollback or angleswitching of the Neo-Tethyan subducting slab. | 10 | Seasonal differences in sources and formation processes of PM2.5 nitrate in an urban environment of North China显示文摘Nitrate(NO_(3)^(−))has been the dominant ion of secondary inorganic aerosols(SIAs)in PM_(2.5) in North China.Tracking the formation mechanisms and sources of particulate nitrate are vital to mitigate air pollution.In this study,PM_(2.5) samples in winter(January 2020)and in summer(June 2020)were collected in Jiaozuo,China,andwater-soluble ions and(δ_(15)N,δ_(18)O)-NO_(3)^(−)were analyzed.The results showed that the increase of NO_(3)^(−)concentrations was the most remarkable with increasing PM_(2.5) pollution level.δ_(18)O-NO_(3)^(−)values for winter samples(82.7‰ to 103.9‰)were close to calculated δ_(18)O-HNO_(3)(103‰±0.8‰)values by N_(2)O_(5) pathway,while δ_(18)O-NO_(3)^(−)values(67.8‰ to 85.7‰)for summer samples were close to calculated δ_(18)O-HNO_(3) values(61‰±0.8‰)by OH oxidation pathway,suggesting that PM_(2.5) nitrate is largely from N_(2)O_(5) pathway inwinter,while is largely from OH pathway in summer.Averaged fractional contributions of P_(N2O5+H2O) were 70% and 39% in winter and summer sampling periods,respectively,those of POH were 30% and 61%,respectively.Higher δ_(15)N-NO_(3)−values for winter samples(3.0‰to 14.4‰)than those for summer samples(-3.7‰to 8.6‰)might be due to more contributions from coal combustion in winter.Coal combustion(31%±9%,25%±9%in winter and summer,respectively)and biomass burning(30%±12%,36%±12%in winter and summer,respectively)were the main sources using Bayesian mixing model.These results provided clear evidence of particulate nitrate formation and sources under different PM_(2.5) levels,and aided in reducing atmospheric nitrate in urban environments. | Yanli Li Yaping Geng Xiaomian Hu Xijie Yin | 2022 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,10: | 2 |

| 16 | Ecosystem carbon stock of a tropical mangrove forest in North Sulawesi, Indonesia显示文摘Recent studies have highlighted the valuable role played by mangrove forests in carbon sequestration and storage.Although Indonesia accounts for a large proportion of global mangrove area, knowledge on the carbon stock and sources in the Indonesian mangrove is still limited. In this study, we quantified the ecosystem organic carbon(OC) stock and its spatial variation at an oceanic mangrove in Wori, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. The sources of soil OC were also investigated. The results showed that the mangrove soil had a substantial OC stock containing15.4 kg/m^2(calculated by carbon) in the top 50 cm soil, and represented the majority of the ecosystem OC stock at the Wori mangrove. The mangrove biomass and ecosystem OC stock were 8.3 kg/m^2 and 23.7 kg/m^2, respectively.There was no significantly difference in the soil OC stock among the stations with difference distances offshore,while the highest mangrove biomass OC stock was found at the seaward station. Isotope mixing calculations showed that the rich OC in mangrove soils was attributed to the accumulated autochthonous mangrove source while the suspended organic matter in tidal water and the mangrove-adjacent seagrass contributed less than 20%to the soil OC. | 20 | Cerium and carbon-sulfur codoped mesoporous TiO_(2)nanocomposites for boosting visible light photocatalytic activity显示文摘Ce and C-S codoped mesoporous TiO_(2)nanocomposites were synthesized via a sol-gel method integrated with an evaporation-induced self-assembly approach.The basic physicochemical characteristics of the synthetic samples were analyzed via a series of characterization techniques.The results reveal that C-S and Ce codoping on mesoporous TiO_(2)enhances the photocatalytic activity owing to the synergistic effect caused by narrowing the band gap,enhancing adsorption,trapping and transferring the excited e^(-)/h^(+)pairs and suppressing the recombination of e^(-)/h^(+)pairs.Furthermore,the obtained C,S-TiO_(2)/CeO_(2)materials exhibit large specific surface areas and numerous pores which not only effectively improve the adsorption-enrichment capability,but also supply multi-dimensional mass and electron transfer channels.The photodegradation efficiency of RhB by C,S-TiO_(2)/CeO_(2)within 40 min is nearly 100%,and its degradation efficiency is 6.63 times that of undoped TiO_(2).Recycling experiments show that mesoporous C,S-TiO_(2)/CeO_(2)shows excellent recoverability and stability.Furthermore,by trapping experiments,·O_(2)e^(-)/h^(+)and·OH are the predominant active species and a possible reaction mechanism is proposed. | Fei Zheng Faqin Dong Lin Zhou Jieyu Yu Xijie Luo Xingyu Zhang Zhenzhen Lv Luman Jiang Yuheng Chen Mengqing Liu | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,4: | 1 |
