Entransy decrease principle of heat transfer in an isolated system显示文摘The entropy increase principle for an isolated system and the criteria of thermal equilibrium for an isolated system and systems with prescribed temperature and volume can be derived on the basis of the concept of entropy and the first and second laws of thermodynamics. In this paper, the entransy decrease principle for an isolated system is introduced on the basis of the concept of entransy. It is found that the entransy of an isolated system always decreases during heat transfer. This principle can be taken as an expression of the second law of thermodynamics for heat transfer. The thermal equilibrium criteria for an isolated system and a closed system are also introduced. It is found that when an isolated system reaches thermal equilibrium, its entransy is a minimum value. This criterion is referred to as the minimum entransy principle. When a closed system reaches thermal equilibrium, its free entransy is also a minimum value. This criterion is referred to as the minimum free entransy principle. Therefore, like entropy, entransy can be considered an arrow of time in heat transfer and used to describe the thermal equilibrium state. | CHENG XueTao LIANG XinGang GUO ZengYuan | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,9: | 29
Molecular dynamics study on thermal conductivity of nano-scale thin films显示文摘A simple and effective model of heat conduction across thin films is set up and molecular dynamics simulations are implemented to explore the thermal conductivity of nanoscale thin dielectric films in the direction perpendicular to the film plane. Solid argon is selected as the model system due to its reliable experimental data and potential function. Size effects of the thermal conductivity across thin films are found by computer simulations: in a film thickness range of 2-10 nm, the conductivity values are remarkably lower than the corresponding bulk experimental data and increase as the thickness increases. The consistency between the approximate solution of the phonon Boltzmann transport equation and the simulation results ascribes the thermal conductivity size effect to the phonon scattering at film boundaries. | Xiaoli Feng Zhixin Li Xingang Liang Zengyuan Guo | 2001 | Chinese Science Bulletin2001,46,7: | 7
Modelling tree mortality across diameter classes using mixedeffects zero-inflated models显示文摘The mortality of trees across diameter class model is a useful tool for predicting changes in stand structure.Mortality data commonly contain a large fraction of zeros and general discrete models thus show more errors.Based on the traditional Poisson model and the negative binomial model, different forms of zero-inflated and hurdle models were applied to spruce-fir mixed forests data to simulate the number of dead trees.By comparing the residuals and Vuong test statistics, the zero-inflated negative binomial model performed best.A random effect was added to improve the model accuracy;however, the mixed-effects zero-inflated model did not show increased advantages.According to the model principle, the zeroinflated negative binomial model was the most suitable, indicating that the'0'events in this study, mainly from the sample'0',i.e.,the zero mortality data, are largely due to the limitations of the experimental design and sample selection. These results also show that the number of dead trees in the diameter class is positively correlated with the number of trees in that class and the mean stand diameter, and inversely related to class size, and slope and aspect of the site. | Yang Li Xingang Kang Qing Zhang Weiwei Guo | 2020 | Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,1: | 3
Effect of potential HONO sources on peroxyacetyl nitrate(PAN)formation in eastern China in winter显示文摘As an important secondary photochemical pollutant, peroxyacetyl nitrate(PAN)has been studied over decades, yet its simulations usually underestimate the corresponding observations, especially in polluted areas.Recent observations in north China found unusually high concentrations of PAN during wintertime heavy haze events, but the current model still cannot reproduce the observations, and researchers speculated that nitrous acid(HONO)played a key role in PAN formation. For the first time we systematically assessed the impact of potential HONO sources on PAN formation mechanisms in eastern China using the Weather Research and Forecasting/Chemistry(WRF-Chem)model in February of 2017.The results showed that the potential HONO sources significantly improved the PAN simulations, remarkably accelerated the RO x(sum of hydroxyl, hydroperoxyl, and organic peroxy radicals)cycles, and resulted in 80%–150%enhancements of PAN near the ground in the coastal areas of eastern China and 10%–50%enhancements in the areas around 35–40°N within 3 km during a heavy haze period. The direct precursors of PAN were aldehyde and methylglyoxal, and the primary precursors of PAN were alkenes with C>3,xylenes,propene and toluene. The above results suggest that the potential HONO sources should be considered in regional and global chemical transport models when conducting PAN studies. | Jingwei Zhang Yitian Guo Yu Qu Yong Chen Ruipeng Yu Chaoyang Xue Rui Yang Qiang Zhang Xingang Liu Yujing Mu Jing Wang Can Ye Haihan Zhao Qiangqiang Sun Ziwen Wang Junling An | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,8: | 3
SECURE STEGANOGRAPHY BASED ON BINARY PARTICLE SWARM OPTIMIZATION显示文摘The objective of steganography is to hide message securely in cover objects for secret communication. How to design a secure steganographic algorithm is still major challenge in this re-search field. In this letter, developing secure steganography is formulated as solving a constrained IP(Integer Programming) problem, which takes the relative entropy of cover and stego distributions as the objective function.Furthermore,a novel method is introduced based on BPSO(Binary Particle Swarm Optimization) for achieving the optimal solution of this programming problem.Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve excellent performance on preserving neighboring co-occurrence features for JPEG steganography. | Guo Yanqing Kong Xiangwei You Xingang | 2009 | Journal of Electronics(China)2009,26,2: | 2
Homeobox B8 Targets Sterile Alpha Motif Domain-Containing Protein 9 and Drives Glioma Progression显示文摘Gliomas are the most commonly occurring tumors of the central nervous system. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most malignant and aggressive brain cancer in adults. Further understanding of the mechanisms underlying the aggressive nature of GBM is urgently needed. Here we identified homeobox B8(HOXB8), a member of the homeobox family, as a crucial contributor to the aggressiveness of GBM. Data mining of publicly accessible RNA sequence datasets and our patient cohorts confirmed a higher expression of HOXB8 in the tumor tissue of GBM patients, and a strong positive correlation between the expression level and pathological grading of tumors and a negative correlation between the expression level and the overall survival rate. We next showed that HOXB8 promotes the proliferation and migration of glioblastoma cells and is crucial for the activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway and expression of epithelial–mesenchymal transition-related genes, possibly through direct binding to the promoter of SAMD9 (Sterile Alpha Motif Domain-Containing Protein 9) and activating its transcription. Collectively, we identified HOXB8 as a critical contributor to the aggressiveness of GBM, which provides insights into a potential therapeutic target for GBM and opens new avenues for improving its treatment outcome. | Wenping Ma Hongze Jin Wenjie Liu Xiaojuan Li Xingang Zhou Xinwu Guo Runfa Tian Qi Cui Junjie Luo Yueying Jiao Youtao Yu Haifeng Yang Hongshan Zhao | 2020 | Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,4: | 2
