1A Chromosome-Level Genome Assembly of Garlic (Allium sativum) Provides Insights into Genome Evolution and Allicin Biosynthesis显示文摘Garlic,an economically important vegetable,spice,and medicinal crop,produces highly enlarged bulbs and unique organosulfur compounds.Here,we report a chromosome-level genome assembly for garlic,with a total size of approximately 16.24 Gb,as well as the annotation of 57561 predicted protein-coding genes,making garlic the first Allium species with a sequenced genome.Analysis of this garlic genome assembly reveals a recent burst of transposable elements,explaining the substantial expansion of the garlic genome.We examined the evolution of certain genes associated with the biosynthesis of allicin and inulin neoseries-type fructans,and provided new insights into the biosynthesis of these two compounds.Furthermore,a large-scale transcriptome was produced to characterize the expression patterns of garlic genes in different tissues and at various growth stages of enlarged bulbs.The reference genome and large-scale transcriptome data generated in this study provide valuable new resources for research on garlic biology and breeding.Xiudong Sun Siyuan Zhu Ningyang Li Yi Cheng Jing Zhao Xuguang Qiao Li Lu Shiqi Liu Yanzhou Wang Chan Liu Benping Li Wu Guo Shuang Gao Zemao Yang Fu Li Zheng Zeng Qing Tang Yupeng Pan Mengjiao Guan Jian Zhao Xiaomi ng Lu Huanwe n Meng Zhenlin Han Chun she ng Gao Wenkai Jiang Xing Zhao Shilin Tian Jianguang Su Zhihui Cheng Touming Liu 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,9:14
2Determination of optimal dietary selenium levels by full expression of selenoproteins in various tissues of broilers from 1 to 21 d of age显示文摘The current NRC dietary selenium(Se)requirement(0.15 mg/kg)of broilers is primarily based on growth performance data reported in 1986.Our study aimed to determine optimal dietary Se levels of broilers fed a practical corn-soybean meal diet for the full expression of selenoproteins in various tissues.A total of 384 one-d-old male broilers(n=8 replicates/diet)were fed a basal corn-soybean meal diet or the basal diet supplemented with 0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4 or 0.5 mg Se/kg in the form of Na_(2)SeO_(3) for 21 d.Regression analysis was conducted to evaluate the optimal dietary Se levels using broken-line,quadratic or asymptotic models.The activity of glutathione peroxidase(GPX)in the plasma,liver,kidney and pancreas,iodothyronine deiodinase(DIO)in the plasma,liver and pancreas,and thioredoxin reductase(Txnrd)in the liver and pancreas,the mRNA levels of Gpx1,Gpx4,Dio1,selenoprotein(Seleno)h,Selenop and Selenou in the liver,Gpx4,Dio1,Txnrd1,Txnrd2,Selenoh,Selenop and Selenou in the kidney,and Gpx1,Gpx4,Selenoh and Selenou in the pancreas,and the protein levels of GPX4 in the liver and kidney of broilers were influenced(P<0.05)by added Se levels,and increased quadratically(P<0.05)with the increase of added Se levels.The estimates of optimal dietary Se levels were 0.07 to 0.36 mg/kg based on the fitted broken-line,quadratic or asymptotic models(P<0.001)of the aforementioned selenoprotein expression in the plasma,liver and kidney,and 0.09 to 0.46 mg/kg based on the fitted broken-line models(P<0.001)of the aforementioned selenoprotein expression in the pancreas.The results indicate that the optimal dietary Se levels would be 0.36 mg/kg to support the full expression of selenoproteins in the plasma,liver and kidney,and 0.46 mg/kg to support the full expression of selenoproteins in the pancreas of broilers fed a practical corn-soybean meal diet from 1 to 21 d of age.Xiudong Liao Guoqing Liu Guangming Sun Xiaoming Sun Tao Liu Lin Lu Liyang Zhang Minhong Zhang Yanli Guo Xugang Luo 2021Animal Nutrition2021,,4:2

8Recent Progress and Design Principles for Rechargeable Lithium Organic Batteries显示文摘The most commonly used electrode materials in lithium organic batteries(LOBs)are redox-active organic materials,which have the advantages of low cost,environmental safety,and adjustable structures.Although the use of organic materials as electrodes in LOBs has been reported,these materials have not attained the same recognition as inorganic electrode materials,mainly due to their slight electronic conductivity and possible solubility in organic electrolytes,resulting in a low reversible capacity.However,over the past 10 years,organic materials have achieved outstanding results when used as battery electrodes,and an increasing number of researchers have realized their significance.This review summarizes the recent progress in organic electrodes for use in rechargeable LOBs.By classifying Li-storage mechanisms with various functional organic groups and designing molecules for next-generation advanced lithium organic systems,we attempt to analyze the working principle and the effect of various organic functionalities on electrochemical performance,to reveal the advantages and disadvantages of various organic molecules and to propose possible design principles and development trends for future LOBs.In addition,we highlight the recently reported two-dimensional covalent organic framework that is unique in its extensiveπconjugated structure and Li-storage mechanisms based on benzene and N-containing rings;this framework is considered to be the most promising alternative to metal-based electrode materials with comparable large reversible capacities and long cycle lives.Xiudong Chen Xiaojie Yin Junaid Aslam Weiwei Sun Yong Wang 2022Electrochemical Energy Reviews2022,5,4:1

14Effects of Different Water-saving Irrigation Methods on Fruit Quality and Yield of Snow Melon显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to explore the most suitable irrigation integration mode for'Tinglin snow melon'in Jinshan District,Shanghai City.[Methods]With the field water holding capacity as the standard,different upper limits of irrigation were set in the four growth stage of snow melon to investigate the effects of such three water-saving irrigation modes as single-row drip irrigation pipes,double-row drip irrigation pipes and drip arrows on the traits and yield of melon plants under the same growth conditions.[Results]The results showed that different irrigation modes had certain effects on the growth,comprehensive quality and yield of snow melon,and the drop arrow mode was better than other two modes.Under the drop arrow mode,the number of snow melons was the highest,7.34 per plant,and the yield was the highest,reaching 15463.35 kg/hm^(2),showing the best yield increasing effect.In addition,the contents of soluble solids and vitamin C in the drop arrow mode were higher than those in the drip irrigation pipe mode.[Conclusions]Compared with other irrigation methods,the drop arrow mode was more suitable for the production of snow melon.Xiudong SUN Yafei SUN Zhongmou CHENG Weiqin XU Lili ZHOU Meixian GU Anna Guo Tingting JIANG Dongju ZHANG 2021Agricultural Biotechnology2021,10,3:0
