1Natural^(15)N abundance in soils and plants in relation to N cycling in a rangeland in Inner Mongolia显示文摘Aims Natural 15N abundance provides integrated information about nitrogen(N)input,transformation and output,indirectly reflecting N cycling traits within terrestrial ecosystems.However,relationships between natural 15N abundance and N cycling processes are poorly understood in China.Here,our primary objectives were to(i)examine the effects of grazing at varying levels of intensity on d15N of soils and plants in a semi-arid grassland;(ii)detect the relationships between d15N of soils and four major N cycling processes(i.e.mineralization,nitrification,denitrification and ammonia volatilization);and(iii)determine whether d15N of soils can be used as an indicator of N cycling in this semi-arid grassland.Methods The field experiment was conducted within the long-term(17-year)grazing enclosures in a semi-arid grassland in Inner Mongolia.Five grazing intensities(0.00,1.33,2.67,4.00 and 5.33 sheep ha1)were designed.d15N values of topsoils(0–10 cm),surface soils(0–2 cm)and plants were measured in 2006.Differences in d15N of soils and plants between the five grazing intensities were examined.Rates of four soil N cycling processes were measured periodically during the 2005 and 2006 growing seasons.The d15N values of topsoils were linked to the four N cycling processes to investigate their relationships.Important Findings The d15N values of topsoils(5.20–5.96&)were substantially higher than the d15N values of plants(2.51–2.93&)and surface soils(1.44–2.92&)regardless of grazing intensities.The 15N-depleted N losses during microbial decomposition of organic matter in concert with the downward movement of residual substrate over time are the possible causes of higher d15N values in topsoils than in surface soils.In addition,the d15N values of topsoils were positively correlated with the d15N values of both plants and surface soils.Grazing,especially the high-intensity grazing(5.33 sheep ha1),resulted in a significant decrease in d15N of surface soils.However,no statistically significant variations in d15N of topsoils and plants were found in response to grazing.The d15N values of topsoils exhibited significant dependence on the cumulative rates of NH3 volatilization,net nitrification and denitrification in 2005 but not in 2006.Yuqing Xu Jicheng He Weixin Cheng Xuerong Xing Linghao Li 2010Journal of Plant Ecology2010,3,3:12
2Type 1 CD8^+ T Cells are Superior to Type 2 CD8^+ T Cells in Tumor Immunotherapy due to Their Efficient Cytotoxicity,Prolonged Survival and Type 1 Immune Modulation显示文摘CD8+ cytotoxic T(Tc) cells play a crucial role in host immune responses to cancer,and in this context,adoptive CD8+ Tc cell therapy has been studied in numerous animal tumor models. Its antitumor efficacy is,to a large extent,determined by the ability of Tc cells to survive and infiltrate tumors. In clinical trials,such in vitro-activated T cells often die within hours to days,and this greatly limits their therapeutic efficacy. CD8+ Tc cells fall into two subpopulations based upon their differential cytokine secretion. In this study,we in vitro generated that ovalbumin(OVA) -pulsed dendritic cell(DCOVA) -activated CD8+ type 1 Tc(Tc1) cells secreting IFN-γ,and CD8+ type 2 Tc(Tc2) cells secreting IL-4,IL-5 and IL-10,which were derived from OVA-specific T cell receptor(TCR) transgenic OT I mice. We then systemically investigated the in vitro and in vivo effector function and survival of Tc1 and Tc2 cells,and then assessed their survival kinetics after adoptively transferred into C57BL/6 mice,respectively. We demonstrated that,when compared to CD8+ Tc2,Tc1 cells were significantly more effective in perforin-mediated cytotoxicity to tumor cells,had a significantly higher capacity for in vivo survival after the adoptive T cell transfer,and had a significantly stronger therapeutic effect on eradication of well-established tumors expressing OVA in animal models. In addition,CD8+ Tc1 and Tc2 cells skewed the phenotype of CD4+ T cells toward Th1 and Th2 type,respectively. 4Effect of trace yttrium on the microstructure,mechanical property and corrosion behavior of homogenized Mg-2Zn-0.1Mn-0.3Ca-xY biological magnesium alloy显示文摘The effects of trace yttrium(Y)element on the microstructure,mechanical properties,and corrosion resistance of Mg-2Zn-0.1Mn-0.3Ca-xY(x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3)biological magnesium alloys are investigated.Results show that grain size decreases from 310 to 144µm when Y content increases from 0wt%to 0.3wt%.At the same time,volume fraction of the second phase increases from 0.4%to 6.0%,yield strength of the alloy continues to increase,and ultimate tensile strength and elongation decrease initially and then increase.When the Y content increases to 0.3wt%,Mg_(3)Zn_(6)Y phase begins to precipitate in the alloy;thus,the alloy exhibits the most excellent mechanical property.At this time,its ultimate tensile strength,yield strength,and elongation are 119 MPa,69 MPa,and 9.1%,respectively.In addition,when the Y content is 0.3wt%,the alloy shows the best corrosion resistance in the simulated body fluid(SBF).This investigation has revealed that the improvement of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance is mainly attributed to the grain refinement and the precipitated Mg_(3)Zn_(6)Y phase.Mingfan Qi Liangyu Wei Yuzhao Xu Jin Wang Aisen Liu Bing Hao Jicheng Wang 2022International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,9:3
5Characterization of chromophoric organic matter in effluent from Vitamin C wastewater anaerobic-aerobic treatment显示文摘Chroma is not effectively removed from Vitamin C(VC)wastewater by traditional anaerobic-aerobic treatment.This means cur-rent treatment does not meet the strict new discharge standard for VC wastewater in China.However,to date,no studies have investigated the removal of chroma from VC wastewater,or characterized the chromophoric organic matter in wastewater.In this study,choromophoric organic matter in effluent from anaerobic-aerobic treatment of Vitamin C wastewater was characterized using high performance gel permeation chromatography(HPGPC),ultrafiltration,and infrared(IR)and ultraviolet-visible(UV/Vis)spectroscopy.Routine water-quality indices were determined,and indicated that the organic matter in the effluent contained nitrogen.The molecular weight of most organic matter in this effluent was below 1000 Da,while the remainder was between 1000-3000 Da.These compounds are likely biodegradation products of high molecular weight organic matter in the effluent,which are raw materials and byproducts from VC production.IR spectra indicated that the low molecular weight(<1000 Da)organic matter and higher molecular weight(1000-3000 Da)organic matter contain similar major functional groups,including-OH,-NH2,-CO-NH2,-C=O-,and-COO-.The effluent was treated using electrolysis,and UV/Vis spectra of this effluent before and after electrolysis indicated that-C=O is an important chroma group in this effluent.Electrolysis can easily break-C=O,and provides a feasible technology for the advanced treatment of anaerobic-aerobic effluent from VC wastewater treatment.XU Ke REN HongQiang DING LiLi XIE JiCheng REN XinKun 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,33:3
6Synchronously Improving the Thermal Conductivity and Mechanical Properties of Al–Si–Fe–Mg–Cu–Zn Alloy Die Castings Through Ultrasonic-Assisted Rheoforming显示文摘An ultrasonic vibration-assisted air-cooled stirring rod process(ACSR+UV)was used to efficiently prepare a large-volume semisolid slurry with a mass of more than 40 kg.A low-cost Al–Si–Fe–Mg–Cu–Zn die-casted alloy with high thermal conductivity,high plasticity and medium strength was developed.The alloy was used to manufacture large,thin-walled parts for 5 G base stations by using the ACSR+UV rheological die-casting(ACSR+UV R-DC)process.Investigations were performed on the microstructure,porosity,mechanical properties,fracture behaviour and thermal conductivity of the ACSR+UV R-DC alloy,which was then compared to traditionally die-casted(T-DC)and ACSR R-DC alloys.The mechanisms for the microstructural refinement and enhancement of the mechanical and thermal conductivity performances of the ACSR+UV R-DC alloy were also analysed.The results showed that the ACSR+UV process increased the nucleation rate of the melt due to the increase in the nucleation area and the generation of cavitation bubbles.A radial-and an axial-forced convection was also generated inside the melt under the combined effects of acoustic flow and mechanical stirring,thereby homogenising the melt composition field and the temperature field.Therefore,the ACSR+UV R-DC process not only refined the primaryα-Al(α_(1)-Al),the eutectic silicon and the secondaryα-Al(α_(2)-Al),but also greatly improved the morphology and the distribution of the β-Al5FeSi phase.The mechanical properties of the ACSR+UV R-DC alloy were higher than those of the T-DC and the ACSR R-DC alloys.Compared to the T-DC alloy,the ultimate tensile strength,elongation and yield strength of the ACSR+UV R-DC alloy were increased by 34%,122%and 19%,respectively.This was because the ACSR+UV R-DC technique gave the alloy the characteristics of high density,fine sphericalα1-Al grain and a fine and uniform β-phase,which improved the fracture behaviour of the alloy.The thermal conductivity of the ACSR+UV R-DC alloy was 184 W/(m K),which was 10.2%and 3.4%higher than that of T-DC and ACSR R-DC alloys,respectively.This was because the refined eutectic silicon and β phases in the ACSR+UV R-DC alloy facilitated an easier electron flow through the eutectic region,and the decrease in porosity increased the effective area of heat conduction.Mingfan Qi Yonglin Kang Jingyuan Li Yuzhao Xu Jicheng Wang Gunan Li Aisen Liu 2021Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2021,34,10:2

11Defect of CD8^+ Memory T Cells Developed in Absence of IL-12 Priming for Secondary Expansion显示文摘IL-12 priming plays an important role in stimulation of CD8+ effector T cells and development of CD8+ memory T (Tm) cells. However,the functional alteration of CD8+ Tm cells developed in the absence of IL-12 priming is elusive. In this study,we investigated the capacity of secondary expansion of CD8+ Tm cells developed from transgenic OT I CD8+ T cells. The latter cells were in vitro and in vivo stimulated by ovalbumin (OVA)-pulsed dendritic cells DCOVA and (IL-12-/-)DCOVA derived from wild-type C57BL/6 and IL-12 gene knockout mice,respectively. We demonstrated that IL-12 priming is important not only in CD8+ T cell clonal expansion,but also in generation of CD8+ Tm cells with the capacity of secondary expansion upon antigen re-encounter. However,IL-12 signaling is not involved in CD8+ Tm cell survival and recall responses. 18COMPUTER CONTROLLED METHOD FOR MEASUREMENT OFSURFACE CRACK LENGTH ON PLATE SUBJECTEDTO FATIGUE LOADING显示文摘The calibration curves obtained using strain gages are used to predict surface crack length on plate specimen subjected to 4-point bending fatigue loading. The results shows that the proposed procedure is of high precision with the maximum error percentage being less than 6%, and it can be easily used to estimate or monitor the surface crack length under fatigue loading both in laboratory and in engineering.
