1Probing the Two-stage Transition upon Crossing the Glass Transition of Polystyrene by Solid-state NMR显示文摘A two-stage transition upon crossing the glass transition of polystyrene with increasing temperature was precisely determined and interpreted by using solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance(SSNMR), ~1H-~1H dipolar couplings based double quantum-filtered(DQF) and dipolar filter(DF) experiments and ^(13)C chemical shift anisotropy(CSA) based centerband-only detection of exchange(CODEX) experiment are used to fully characterize the time scale of molecular motions during the glass transition. While differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and CODEX experiment predicted the first stage of glass transiton, DQF and DF experiments provided the evidence for the second stage transition during which the time scale of molecular motions changed from very slow(t > ms) to very fast(t < μs). The first stage of glass transition begins with the occurrence of remarkable slow re-orientation motions of the polymer backbone segments and ends when the degree of slow motion reaches maximum. The onset and endpoint of the conventional calorimetric glass transition of polystyrene can be quantitatively determined at the molecular level by SSNMR. In the second stage, a subsequent dramatic transition associated with the melting of the glassy components was observed. In this stage liquid-like NMR signals appeared and rapidly increased in intensity after a characteristic temperature T_f(~1.1T_g). 11LOW POTENTIAL ELECTROPOLYMERIZATION OF ANISOTROPIC CONDUCTIVE POLYTHIOPHENE FILMS AND FABRICATION OF ELECTRICAL DEVICES显示文摘The complexation of thiophene with a Lewis acid with moderate acidity as a solvent, such as BF3-ethyl ether (BFEE) remarkedly lowered the electrochemical polymerization potential. The positively chargedmetal surface of electrode in the process of electrochemical deposition enhanced the coordination interactionbetween π-electrons of thiophene unit and the metal, which makes thiophene rings lie parallel to the surfaceof electrode, resulting in a highly ordered polymeric structure. Because of the large intra-chain transferintegrals, the transport of charge is believed to be principally along the conjugated chains, which is muchgreater than the inter-chain hopping. The specific electrical resistance across the polythiophene film thicknessis more than 104 times than that along the surface plane of the film. 17β-Phase Crystallization of Poly(vinylidene fluoride) in Poly(vinylidene fluoride)/Poly(ethyl methacrylate) Blends显示文摘The nature of the crystalline phase of poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) in compatible blends with poly(ethyl methacrylate)(PEMA) was investigated by using X-ray diffraction(XRD), infrared microscopy(IR) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The βphase of PVDF was observed after quenching from the melt and further annealing above the glass transition temperature over a composition range. The PVDF/PEMA blend with weight ratio of 3:2 has formed higher content of PVDF β crystals than others. By taking advantage of fast cooling rate of ultrafast differential scanning calorimeter(UFDSC), the quenching process of blends was modeled and tested simultaneously, and the melting behavior of β crystals in all blends was investigated.
