| 1 | A Study on the Xenia Effect in Castanea henryi显示文摘The xenia effect results in pollen affecting the setting rate and the appearance and quality of fruits. To further understand this phenomenon,we investigated the xenia effect in Castanea henryi using the cultivars ‘Huali 1', ‘Huali 2', ‘Huali 3', and ‘Huangzhen' as materials. Twenty combinations of self-, cross-, and natural pollination were undertaken in a chestnut orchard in Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, China. Significant differences were observed among the pollination combinations in terms of the time of fruit ripening, rate of fruit setting, size of the barbed shell and nut, and content of soluble sugars, fats, proteins, amylose, and vitamin C. No significant differences were observed with regard to nut rate,content of total starch, and moisture content. The fruit quality of the 20 pollination combinations was evaluated using a subordinate function method,and showed that Huali 2 × Huali 3 was the best combination, and Huangzhen × Huangzhen was the most ineffective combination. | 2 | Advanced Ni-Nx-C single-site catalysts for CO2 electroreduction to CO based on hierarchical carbon nanocages and S-doping显示文摘Metal-nitrogen-carbon materials are promising catalysts for CO2 electroreduction to CO. Herein, by taking the unique hierarchical carbon nanocages as the support, an advanced nickel-nitrogen-carbon single-site catalyst is conveniently prepared by pyrolyzing the mixture of NiCl2 and phenanthroline, which exhibits a Faradaic efficiency plateau of > 87% in a wide potential window of −0.6 – −1.0 V. Further S-doping by adding KSCN into the precursor much enhances the CO specific current density by 68%, up to 37.5 A·g−1 at −0.8 V, along with an improved CO Faradaic efficiency plateau of > 90%. Such an enhancement can be ascribed to the facilitated CO pathway and suppressed hydrogen evolution from thermodynamic viewpoint as well as the increased electroactive surface area and improved charge transfer fromkinetic viewpoint due to the S-doping. | 3 | Mechanical and tribological performance of CoCrNiHf_(x)eutectic medium-entropy alloys显示文摘The excellent properties of the multi-principal element alloys(e.g.,the CoCrNi medium-entropy alloy)make them a perfect candidate for structure materials.Their low strength and poor wear-resistance,however,limit considerably their applications.In this study,a lamellar eutectic microstructure was introduced by addition of Hf into CoCrNi alloy to produce a series of CoCrNiHf_(x)(x=0.1,0.2,0.3 and 0.4)eutectic medium-entropy alloys.A homogeneous eutectic microstructure with an alternate array of the soft FCC solid-solution phase and the hard Laves phase was identified for the as-cast CoCrNiHf_(0.3)alloy.After an investigation of the microstructure,mechanical and tribological properties,it was found that the hardness(plasticity)increases(decreases)with the increasing volume fraction of the Laves phase and the CoCrNiHf_(0.3)eutectic alloy exhibits both good plasticity and high strength.The wear behavior is strongly dependent on the applied normal load.For a low normal load,its tribological behavior follows the Archard's equation and a higher hardness due to Hf addition can resist plastic deformation and abrasive wear.When the normal load is high enough,the hypoeutectic or hypereutectic alloy,which possessing either high strength or good ductility but not at the same time,exhibit a poor wear resistance.In comparison,the full eutectic CoCrNiHf_(0.3)alloy with a superior combination of strength and toughness shows the best wear performance,as it can significantly reduce fracture during wear. | Yin Du Xuhui Pei Zhaowu Tang Fan Zhang Qing Zhou Haifeng Wang Weimin Liu | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,31: | 4 |
| 4 | A framework for stochastic estimation of electric vehicle charging behavior for risk assessment of distribution networks显示文摘Power systems are being transformed to enhance the sustainability.This paper contributes to the knowledge regarding the operational process of future power networks by developing a realistic and stochastic charging model of electric vehicles(EVs).Large-scale integration of EVs into residential distribution networks(RDNs)is an evolving issue of paramount significance for utility operators.Unbalanced voltages prevent effective and reliable operation of RDNs.Diversified EV loads require a stochastic approach to predict EVs charging demand,consequently,a probabilistic model is developed to account several realistic aspects comprising charging time,battery capacity,driving mileage,state-of-charge,traveling frequency,charging power,and time-of-use mechanism under peak and off-peak charging strategies.An attempt is made to examine risks associated with RDNs by applying a stochastic model of EVs charging pattern.The output of EV stochastic model obtained from Monte-Carlo simulations is utilized to evaluate the power quality parameters of RDNs.The equipment capability of RDNs must be evaluated to determine the potential overloads.Performance specifications of RDNs including voltage unbalance factor,voltage behavior,domestic transformer limits and feeder losses are assessed in context to EV charging scenarios with various charging power levels at different penetration levels.Moreover,the impact assessment of EVs on RDNs is found to majorly rely on the type and location of a power network. | Salman HABIB Muhammad Mansoor KHAN Farukh ABBAS Muhammad NUMAN Yaqoob ALI Houjun TANG Xuhui YAN | 2020 | Frontiers in Energy2020,14,2: | 3 |

| 6 | The capacitive performances of carbon obtained from the electrolysis of CO_(2) in molten carbonates: Effects of electrolysis voltage and temperature显示文摘The electrochemical reduction of CO2 to capacitive carbon in molten Li2 CO3–Na2 CO3–K2 CO3 is an effective strategy for capturing and utilizing CO2. This paper reports the effects of the cell voltages and operating temperatures(450–650 °C) of the molten salt electrolysis on the capacitive performance of electrolytic carbon. The electrolytic carbon delivers excellent specific capacitance when the cell voltage is 4.5 V and the temperature of molten salt is 450 °C. The carbon obtained at 450 °C and under 4.5 V delivers a specific capacitance of 550 F g^(-1) at 0.2 A g^(-1) in 1 M aqueous H2 SO4, and the capacity retention rate is73% after 10000 cycles. | 16 | Engineered extracellular vesicles for delivery of siRNA promoting targeted repair of traumatic spinal cord injury显示文摘Spinal cord injury(SCI)is a severe disease of the nervous system that causes irreparable damage and loss of function,for which no effective treatments are available to date.Engineered extracellular vesicles(EVs)carrying therapeutic molecules hold promise as an alternative SCI therapy depending on the specific functionalized EVs and the appropriate engineering strategy.In this study,we demonstrated the design of a drug delivery system of peptide CAQK-modified,siRNA-loaded EVs(C-EVs-siRNA)for SCI-targeted therapy.The peptide CAQK was anchored through a chemical modification to the membranes of EVs isolated from induced neural stem cells(iNSCs).CCL2-siRNA was then loaded into the EVs through electroporation.The modified EVs still maintained the basic properties of EVs and showed favorable targeting and therapeutic effects in vitro and in vivo.C-EVs-siRNA specifically delivered siRNA to the SCI region and was taken up by target cells.C-EVs-siRNA used the inherent anti-inflammatory and neuroreparative functions of iNSCs-derived EVs in synergy with the loaded siRNA,thus enhancing the therapeutic effect against SCI.The combination of targeted modified EVs and siRNA effectively regulated the microenvironmental disturbance after SCI,promoted the transformation of microglia/macrophages from M1 to M2 and limited the negative effects of the inflammatory response and neuronal injury on functional recovery in mice after SCI.Thus,engineered EVs are a potentially feasible and efficacious treatment for SCI,and may also be used to develop targeted treatments for other diseases. | Yuluo Rong Zhuanghui Wang Pengyu Tang Jiaxing Wang Chengyue Ji Jie Chang Yufeng Zhu Wu Ye Jianling Bai Wei Liu Guoyong Yin Lipeng Yu Xuhui Zhou Weihua Cai | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,5: | 1 |

| 20 | Aggregation-induced emission artificial enzyme(AIEzyme)with DNase-like activity:Imaging and matrix cleavage for combating bacterial biofilm显示文摘DNase-catalyzed hydrolysis of extracellular DNA(eDNA)has been widely employed to eradicate intractable biofilms.Although aggregation-induced emission(AIE)has become the ideal tool for killing planktonic bacteria,AIE luminogens(AIEgens)often lack DNase-mimetic activity,so as to suffer from poor anti-biofilm capacity.Here,an“AIEzyme”,a kind of AIE nanomaterial with enzyme-like activity,is designed and synthesized,where the AIEgens are used as the ligands of Zr-based coordination polymer nanoparticles.Not only does AIEzyme have enduring DNasemimetic activity with low activation energy,but also structural rigidity-stabilized fluorescence.Due to the long-acting hydrolysis for eDNA in biofilm,AIEzyme can efficiently disorganize the established biofilms with good penetrability and realize the healing of superbug-infected wounds under only one dose of AIEzyme.This work provides a strategy to endow ordinary AIEgens with DNase-like and antibiofilm activities.Moreover,AIEzymes can be observed by virtue of their own AIE character,facilitating the study on self-positioning and residual amount of AIEzymes in wounds.The concept“AIEzyme”would hopefully stimulate the tremendous expansion for the tool kits and the application of AIEgens and artificial enzymes. | Lei Han Yucui Zhang Baojian Huang Xuhui Bian Ben Zhong Tang | 2023 | Aggregate2023,4,5: | 0 |
