1Screening of the Indoor Plants for Removing Formaldehyde显示文摘[Objective]The research aimed to screen out the best ornamental houseplants to remove formaldehyde from indoor air through deposition velocity and to explore the pathways of plants for formaldehyde removal. [Method]Fifty-three indoor ornamental plant species were experimented in series of sealed chambers (volumes of 0. 096m3 ) by formaldehyde fumigation with the internal concentration of (1 ±0.1) mg/L in this study. The removal efficiency of formaldehyde was assessed by the uptake fluxes and the deposition velocity of formaldehyde. [Result]Six species of indoor plants ( Hedera helix,Ficus elastica Roxb. ex Hornem,Nephrolepis exaltata cv. Bostoniensis,Begonia evansiana,Mentha canadensis L. and Adiantum capillus-veneris Linn. ) with high formaldehyde removal efficiency were firstly screened out. Significance analysis of the deposition velocity by Statistical Program for Social Sciences ( SPSS) presented that tested plants belonging to the same genera or family had similar ability to remove formaldehyde pollution. The diurnal variations of deposition velocity for the six plants were then tested further. The results showed that four of them, including Ficus elastica Roxb. ex Hornem,Nephrolepis exaltata cv. Bostoniensis,Mentha canadensis L. and Adiantum capillus-veneris Linn. removed formaldehyde mainly by leaves surface adsorption, while Begonia evansiana and Hedera helix by stomatal uptake. [Conclusion] Begonia evansiana and Hedera helix are the most efficient indoor plants among the 53 species studied for phytoremediation of the air formaldehyde pollution.Shujuan Zhang Yaotang Huang Zizhao Xie Xulan Zhang 2013Meteorological and Environmental Research2013,4,2:3
2Whole-genome Duplication Reshaped Adaptive Evolution in A Relict Plant Species,Cyclocarya paliurus显示文摘Cyclocarya paliurus is a relict plant species that survived the last glacial period and shows a population expansion recently. Its leaves have been traditionally used to treat obesity and diabetes with the well-known active ingredient cyclocaric acid B.Here,we presented three C.paliurus genomes from two diploids with different flower morphs and one haplotype-resolved tetraploid assembly.Comparative genomic analysis revealed two rounds of recent whole-genome duplication events and identified 691 genes with dosage effects that likely contribute to adaptive evolution through enhanced photosynthesis and increased accumulation of triterpenoids.Resequencing analysis of 45 C.paliurus individuals uncovered two bottlenecks, consistent with the known events of environmental changes, and many selectively swept genes involved in critical biological functions, including plant defense and secondary metabolite biosynthesis. We also proposed the biosynthesis pathway of cyclocaric acid B based on multi-omics data and identified key genes,in particular gibberellinrelated genes, associated with the heterodichogamy in C.paliurus species. Our study sheds light on evolutionary history of C.paliurus and provides genomic resources to study the medicinal herbs.Yinquan Qu Xulan Shang Ziyan Zeng Yanhao Yu Guoliang Bian Wenling Wang Li Liu Li Tian Shengcheng Zhang Qian Wang Dejin Xie Xuequn Chen Zhenyang Liao Yibin Wang Jian Qin Wanxia Yang Caowen Sun Xiangxiang Fu Xingtan Zhang Shengzuo Fang 2023Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2023,21,3:1

4Capability of cation exchange technology to remove proven N-nitrosodimethylamine precursors显示文摘N-nitrosodimethylamine(NDMA) precursors consist of a positively charged dimethylamine group and a non-polar moiety, which inspired us to develop a targeted cation exchange technology to remove NDMA precursors. In this study, we tested the removal of two representative NDMA precursors, dimethylamine(DMA) and ranitidine(RNTD), by strong acidic cation exchange resin. The results showed that pH greatly affected the exchange efficiency, with high removal(DMA > 78% and RNTD > 94%) observed at pH < pk_a-1 when the molar ratio of exchange capacity to precursor was 4. The exchange order was obtained as follows: Ca^(2+)> Mg^(2+)> RNTD^+> K^+> DMA^+> NH_4^+> Na^+. The partition coefficient of DMA^+to Na^+was 1.41 ± 0.26, while that of RNTD^+to Na^+was 12.1 ± 1.9. The pseudo second-order equation fitted the cation exchange kinetics well. Bivalent inorganic cations such as Ca^(2+)were found to have a notable effect on NA precursor removal in softening column test. Besides DMA and RNTD, cation exchange process also worked well for removing other 7 model NDMA precursors. Overall, NDMA precursor removal can be an added benefit of making use of cation exchange water softening processes.Shixiang Li Xulan Zhang Er Bei Huihui Yue Pengfei Lin Jun Wang Xiaojian Zhang Chao Chen 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,8:0
