Experimental studies on the P-T stability conditions and influencing factors of gas hydrate in different systems显示文摘The P-T stability conditions of gas hydrate in different systems (i.e., solution, silica sand, and marine sediment) were studied using multi-step decomposition method with our experimental equipment. The effects of different ions with various concentrations and sediment grains on the P-T stability conditions of gas hydrate were investigated. The results show that different ions have different influences on the phase equilibrium of gas hydrate. However, the influence of ions is in a similar trend: the larger the concentration, the bigger the P-T curve shifts to the left. For the silica sand, the influence of pore capillarity of coarse particles (> 460 μm) can be negligible. The P-T curve measured in coarse silica is in agreement with that in pure water. However, the influence of pore capillarity of fine particles (< 35 μm) is significant. The maximum reduction value of temperature is 1.5 K for methane hydrate under stable state. The sediment from the South China Sea significantly affects the P-T stability conditions of methane hydrate, with an average reduction value of 1.9 K within the experimental conditions. This is mainly the result of both the pore water salinity and the pore capillarity of sediment. Because the pore water salinity is keeping diluted by the fresh water released from hydrate dissociation, the measured P-T stability points fall on different P-T curves with the decreasing salinity. | LIU ChangLing YE YuGuang SUN ShiCai CHEN Qiang MENG QingGuo HU GaoWei | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,4: | 11
Influence of foraminifera on formation and occurrence characteristics of natural gas hydrates in fine-grained sediments from Shenhu area, South China Sea显示文摘Marine gas hydrates accumulate primarily in coarse-grained, high-permeability layers; however, highly saturated natural gas hydrates have been discovered in the fine-grained sediments of Shenhu area, South China Sea(SCS). This may be explained by key factors, such as the great abundance of foraminifera shells. In this paper, by analyzing the SCS foraminifera structure and performing hydrate formation experiments in the foraminifera shells, the contribution of foraminifera to hydrate accumulation in the SCS was investigated from a microscopic point of view. Simulations of hydrate formation were carried out in both pure SCS foraminifera shells and the host sediments. Pore structures in typical foraminifera were studied by use of micro-focus X-ray computed tomography(CT) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). Hydrate growth and occurrence characteristics in the foraminifera shells were observed in-situ. The results showed that the presence of foraminifera significantly enhanced the effective porosity of the SCS sediments. Moreover, while the hydrates grew preferentially in the chambers of the coarse-grained foraminifera by adhering to the inner walls of the foraminifera shells, no apparent hydrate accumulation was observed in the fine-grained or argillaceous matrix. These findings provide a basis for further studies on the accumulation mechanism of hydrates and physical properties of hydrate reservoir in the South China Sea. | LI ChengFeng HU GaoWei ZHANG Wei YE YuGuang LIU ChangLing LI Qing SUN JianYe | 2016 | Science China Earth Sciences2016,59,11: | 7
Imaging energetic electron spectrometer onboard a Chinese navigation satellite in the inclined GEO orbit显示文摘The energetic electron measurement is one of the most important issues to understand dynamics in space physics and the applications for space weather. In this study, the principle and functional components of the imaging energetic electron spectrometer(IES) onboard a Chinese navigation satellite in the inclined GEO orbit(IGSO) was introduced. The IES instrument is developed by the team in Peking University(BeiDa), thus it is named as BD-IES. Based on the pin-hole technique, the instrument can measure 50–600 keV electrons incident from 9 directions over a range of 180° in polar angle. With pulse height analysis(PHA), the spectrum can be determined for each direction. The energy and angular calibrations were performed, which show the good energy and angular characteristics of BD-IES. Monte Carlo simulations show that the anti-proton design of BDIES can effectively decrease the proton contamination on the electron measurements in the inclined GEO orbit. The primary results of BD-IES verify the successful design of this instrument. | ZOU Hong YE YuGuang ZONG QiuGang CHEN HongFei ZOU JiQing CHEN Jiang SHI WeiHong YU XiangQian ZHONG WeiYing WANG YongFu ZHOU XuZhi HAO YiXin CHEN XingRan JIA XiangHong XU Feng SHAO SiPei WANG Bo HAO XiaoYun ZHANG XiaoXin | 2018 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2018,61,12: | 5
Monte Carlo simulations of the sensor head of imaging energetic electron spectrometer onboard a Chinese IGSO navigation satellite显示文摘An imaging energetic electron spectrometer built by the Peking University team(BD-IES) onboard a Chinese navigation satellite in an inclined GEO orbit has been launched successfully in September 2015, which measures the spectra of the energetic electrons with the energy range of 50–600 keV in nine directions. In this study, Monte Carlo simulations of the BD-IES sensor head were performed using Geant4 and the corresponding characteristic responses to the isotropic energetic particles were derived. The effective geometric factors were estimated using the typical electron and proton spectra in the GEO orbit and the corresponding simulated sensor head responses. It was found that the average effective geometric factors of nine directions are close to the nominal geometric factors calculated with the traditional method, but the effective geometric factor decreases as the center energy of the energy channel decreases. The BD-IES sensor head also responses to the energetic protons, but the average contamination rate of all 72 channels is about 2%, which means that the proton contamination is acceptable. The spectra of the energetic electrons measured by BD-IES are derived using the effective geometric factors of the sensor head and are comparable with the spectra measured by the magnetic electron ion spectrometer(MagEIS) instrument onboard Van Allen Probes. | ZOU Hong YE YuGuang ZONG QiuGang CHEN HongFei LUO Lin ZHOU XuZhi CHEN XingRan HAO YiXin REN Jie WANG YongFu SHI WeiHong YU XiangQian JIA XiangHong XU Feng ZHANG XiaoXin | 2019 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2019,62,7: | 3
P-T stability conditions of methane hydrate in sediment from South China Sea显示文摘For reasonable assessment and safe exploitation of marine gas hydrate resource, it is important to determine the stability conditions of gas hydrates in marine sediment. In this paper, the seafloor water sample and sediment sample (saturated with pore water) from Shenhu Area of South China Sea were used to synthesize methane hydrates, and the stability conditions of methane hydrates were investigated by multi-step heating dissociation method. Preliminary experimental results show that the dissociation temperature of methane hydrate both in seafloor water and marine sediment, under any given pressure, is depressed by approximately -1.4 K relative to the pure water system. This phenomenon indicates that hydrate stability in marine sediment is mainly affected by pore water ions. | Shicai Sun Yuguang Ye Changling Liu Fengkui Xiang Yan Ma | 2011 | Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2011,20,5: | 2
Pore capillary pressure and saturation of methane hydrate bearing sediments显示文摘To better understand the relationship between the pore capillary pressure and hydrate saturation in sediments, a new method was proposed. First, the phase equilibria of methane hydrate in fine-grained silica sands were measured. As to the equilibrium data, the pore capillary pressure and saturation of methane hydrate were calculated. The results showed that the phase equilibria of methane hydrates in fine-grained silica sands changed due to the depressed activity of pore water caused by the surface group and negatively charged characteristic of silica particles as well as the capillary pressure in small pores together. The capillary pressure increased with the increase of methane hydrate saturation due to the decrease of the available pore space. However, the capillary-saturation relationship could not yet be described quantitatively because of the stochastic habit of hydrate growth. | SUN Shicai LIU Changling YE Yuguang LIU Yufeng | 2014 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2014,33,10: | 2
Experimental study on geochemical characteristic of methane hydrate formed in porous media显示文摘The natural occurrence of methane hydrates in marine sediments has been intensively studied over the past decades, and geochemical characteristic of hydrate is one of the most attractive research fields. In this paper, we discussed the geochemical anomaly during hydrate formation in porous media. By doing so, we also investigated the temperature influence on hydrate formation under isobaric condition. It turns out that subcooling is an important factor to dominate hydrate formation. Larger subcooling provides more powerful driving force for hydrate formation. During the geochemical anomaly research, six kinds of ions and the total dissolved salt (TDS) were measured before and after the experiment in different porous media. The result is that all kinds of ionic concentration increased after hydrate formation which can be defined as salting out effect mainly affected by gas consumption. But the variation ratio of different ions is not equal. Ca2+ seems to be the most significantly influenced one, and its variation ratio is up to 80%. Finally, we theoretically made a model to calculate the TDS variation, the result is in good accordance with measured one, especially when gas consumption is large. | Qiang Chen Changling Liu Yuguang Ye | 2009 | Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2009,18,2: | 1
Energetic electron detection packages on board Chinese navigation satellites in MEO显示文摘Energetic electron measurements and spacecraft charging are of great significance for theoretical research in space physics and space weather applications. In this paper, the energetic electron detection package(EEDP)deployed on three Chinese navigation satellites in medium Earth orbit(MEO)is reviewed. The instrument was developed by the space science payload team led by Peking University. The EEDP includes a pinhole medium-energy electron spectrometer(MES),a high-energy electron detector(HED)based onΔE-E telescope technology, and a deep dielectric charging monitor(DDCM).The MES measures the energy spectra of 50−600 keV electrons from nine directions with a 180°×30°field of view(FOV).The HED measures the energy spectrum of 0.5−3.0 MeV electrons from one direction with a 30°cone-angle FOV.The ground test and calibration results indicate that these three sensors exhibit excellent performance.Preliminary observations show that the electron spectra measured by the MES and HED are in good agreement with the results from the magnetic electron-ion spectrometer(MagEIS)of the Van Allen Probes spacecraft, with an average relative deviation of 27.3%for the energy spectra. The charging currents and voltages measured by the DDCM during storms are consistent with the highenergy electron observations of the HED,demonstrating the effectiveness of the DDCM.The observations of the EEDP on board the three MEO satellites can provide important support for theoretical research on the radiation belts and the applications related to space weather. | YuGuang Ye Hong Zou Qiu-Gang Zong HongFei Chen JiQing Zou WeiHong Shi XiangQian Yu WeiYing Zhong YongFu Wang YiXin Hao ZhiYang Liu XiangHong Jia Bo Wang XiaoPing Yang XiaoYun Hao | 2021 | Earth and Planetary Physics2021,5,2: | 1

A method of estimating the Martian neutral atmospheric density at 130 km, and comparison of its results with Mars Global Surveyor and Mars Odyssey aerobraking observations based on the Mars Climate Database outputs显示文摘Profiles of the Martian dayside ionosphere can be used to derive the neutral atmospheric densities at 130 km,which can also be obtained from the Mars Climate Database(MCD)and spacecraft aerobraking observations. In this research,we explain the method used to calculate neutral densities at 130 km via ionosphere observations and three long-period 130-km neutral density data sets at northern high latitudes(latitudes>60°)acquired through ionospheric data measured by the Mars Global Surveyor(MGS)Radio Occultation Experiment. The calculated 130-km neutral density data, along with 130-km density data from the aerobraking observations of the MGS and Mars Odyssey(ODY)in the northern high latitudes, were compared with MCD outputs at the same latitude, longitude, altitude, solar latitude, and local time. The 130-km density data derived from both the ionospheric profiles and aerobraking observations were found to show seasonal variations similar to those in the MCD data. With a negative shift of about 2×10^10 cm^−3,the corrected 130-km neutral densities derived from MCD v4.3 were consistent with those obtained from the two different observations. This result means that(1)the method used to derive the 130-km neutral densities with ionospheric profiles was effective,(2)the MCD v4.3 data sets generally overestimated the 130-km neutral densities at high latitudes,and(3)the neutral density observations from the MGS Radio Science Experiment could be used to calibrate a new atmospheric model of Mars. | JunFeng Qin Hong Zou YuGuang Ye YongQiang Hao JinSong Wang Erling Nielsen | 2020 | Earth and Planetary Physics2020,4,4: | 1

ESR and U-series ages of coral reef samples from shallow drill holes in the South China Sea显示文摘The ages of coral reef samples from several shallow drill holes in the South China Sea are determined by ESR and U-series (230Th/234U) methods. The experimental results show ideal agreement between ESR and U-series ages and that the coral reefs were formed in the early Holocene. In the determination of natural total dose of coral reef by use of the additive dose method good results can be obtained by exponential fitting, no matter how the effect of dose saturation is. It was found that the ratio of the natural ESR signal intensity ( I0) to the ESR signal intensity at dose saturation ( Imax) of sample can reflect the significance of a irradiation efficiency-k value. Using the k value of sample determined by the formula given in this paper, the precision of ESR dating of marine carbonates can be improved. | Ye Yuguang, Gao Juncheng, He jie, Diao Shaobo, Liu Xinbo and Du Yajing Institute of Marine Geology, Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources, Qingdao, 266071, ChinaNational Institute of Metrology, Beijing, 100013, China | 1991 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica1991,10,3: | 1

Use of DNA metabarcoding of bird pellets in understanding raptor diet on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau of China显示文摘Background:Diet analysis is essential to understanding the functional role of large bird species in food webs.Mor-phological analysis of regurgitated bird pellet contents is time intensive and may underestimate biodiversity.DNA metabarcoding has the ability to circumvent these issues, but has yet to be done. Methods:We present a pilot study using DNA metabarcoding of MT-RNR1 and MT-CO1 markers to determine the species of origin and prey of 45 pellets collected in Qinghai and Gansu Provinces,China. Results:We detected four raptor species[Eurasian Eagle Owl(Bubo bubo),Saker Falcon(Falco cherrug),Steppe Eagle(Aquila nipalensis),and Upland Buzzard(Buteo hemilasius)]and 11 unique prey species across 10 families and 4 classes.Mammals were the greatest detected prey class with Plateau Pika(Ochotona curzoniae)being the most frequent.Observed Shannon’s and Simpson’s diversity for Upland Buzzard were 1.089 and 0.479,respectively,while expected values were 1.312±0.266 and 0.485±0.086.For Eurasian Eagle Owl,observed values were 1.202 and 0.565,while expected values were 1.502±0.340 and 0.580±0.114.Interspecific dietary niche partitioning between the two spe-cies was not detected. Conclusions:Our results demonstrate successful use of DNA metabarcoding for understanding diet via a novel noninvasive sample type to identify common and uncommon species.More work is needed to understand how raptor diets vary locally, and the mechanisms that enable exploitation of similar dietary resources. This approach has wide ranging applicability to other birds of prey, and demonstrates the power of using DNA metabarcoding to study species noninvasively. | Charlotte E.Hacker Brandon D.Hoenig Liji Wu Wei Cong Jingjing Yu Yunchuan Dai Ye Li Jia Li Yadong Xue Yu Zhang Yunrui Ji Hanning Cao Diqiang Li Yuguang Zhang Jan E.Janecka | 2021 | Avian Research2021,12,3: | 1

Consensus on pediatric epilepsy Che up surgery for young children:an investigation by the China Association Against Epilepsy task force on epilepsy surgery显示文摘Researchers have widely acknowledged the therapeutic value of epilepsy surgery for drug-resistant epilepsy.None-theless,there is a substantial gap in the surgical treatment for appropriate candidates owing to several factors, particularly in the population of young children. To standardize the protocols of preoperative evaluation and sur-gery of young children for epilepsy surgery, the China Association Against Epilepsy has appointed an expert task force to standardize the protocols of preoperative evaluation and surgery in pediatric epilepsy patients. It adopted the modifed Delphi method and performed two rounds of surveys through an anonymous inquiry among 75 experts from four subgroups including pediatric neurologists, epileptologists, pediatric epilepsy surgeons, and functional neurosurgeons. The survey contents contained:(1)the participants, comprising children aged≤6 years;(2)adopted DRE definition proposed by the International League Against Epilepsy in 2010;and(3)investigated epilepsy surgery, principally referring to curative epilepsy surgeries. The neuromodulation therapies were excluded because of the differences in treatment mechanisms from the above-mentioned surgeries.According to the Delphi process,a con-sensus was achieved for most aspects by incorporating two rounds of surveys including preoperative assessment,sur-gical strategies and techniques, and perioperative and long-term postoperative management, despite controversial opinions on certain items. We hope the results of this consensus will improve the level of surgical treatment and man-agement of intractable epilepsy in young children. | Lixin Cai Kai Zhang Wenjing Zhou Xiaoqiu Shao Yuguang Guan Tao Yu Ye Wu Shuhua Chen Rui Zhao Shuli Liang Xun Wu Guoming Luan Yuwu Jiang Jianguo Zhang Xiaoyan Liu | 2023 | Acta Epileptologica2023,6,3: | 1

A cross-type imaging electron spectrometer显示文摘Energetic electron measurement is of great significance to theoretical space physics research and space weather applications.Current energetic electron detectors must cooperate with a spin-stabilized satellite platform to achieve high angular resolution in pitch angle distribution and three-dimensional(3D)imaging measurement of energetic electrons. This article introduces a cross-type quasi-3D imaging electron spectrometer(IES)based on pinhole imaging technology developed in the laboratory. The imager is composed of five imaging units, including a nine-pixel area array Si-PIN detector imaging unit in the middle and four three-pixel linear array Si-PIN detector imaging units placed in a cross-shape around it.The combination of five imaging units forms two orthogonal nine-pixel linear array detectors(with a common pixel in the middle). There are four pixels with a view angle of 20°×20°in the 45°oblique directions of the cross-type detection array. There are 21 imaging pixels in the entire crosstype sensor head, corresponding to 21 directions. Two multichannel integrated preamplifier ASICs are integrated in the sensor head to realize particle signal readout from 21 pixels. With a back-end electronics system, each pixel can achieve high energy resolution detection of 50–600 keV electrons.Radioactive sources and electron accelerators are used to calibrate the cross-type imaging sensor head, and the results demonstrate its good energy and directional detection characteristics(the energy resolution reaches 6.9 keV for the incident 200 keV electron beam). We performed simulations on the imaging sensor head’s ability to measure the electron pitch angle distribution on the three-axis stabilized platform, and the results show that the sensor head can perform quasi-three-dimensional detection of electrons incident within 2πsolid angles on the three-axis stabilized satellite platform, with an average angular resolution of the electron pitch angle distribution of less than 6°. | YE YuGuang ZOU Hong WANG YongFu QIN JunFeng SHI WeiHong ZOU JiQing ZHONG WeiYing ZONG QiuGang FU SuiYan | 2023 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,3: | 0
