| 1 | Changes in Extreme Maximum Temperature Events and Population Exposure in China under Global Warming Scenarios of 1.5 and 2.0°C: Analysis Using the Regional Climate Model COSMO-CLM显示文摘We used daily maximum temperature data(1986–2100) from the COSMO-CLM(COnsortium for Small-scale MOdeling in CLimate Mode) regional climate model and the population statistics for China in 2010 to determine the frequency, intensity, coverage, and population exposure of extreme maximum temperature events(EMTEs) with the intensity–area–duration method. Between 1986 and 2005(reference period), the frequency, intensity, and coverage of EMTEs are 1330–1680 times yr^(–1), 31.4–33.3°C, and 1.76–3.88 million km^2, respectively. The center of the most severe EMTEs is located in central China and 179.5–392.8 million people are exposed to EMTEs annually. Relative to 1986–2005, the frequency, intensity, and coverage of EMTEs increase by 1.13–6.84, 0.32–1.50, and15.98%–30.68%, respectively, under 1.5°C warming; under 2.0°C warming, the increases are 1.73–12.48, 0.64–2.76,and 31.96%–50.00%, respectively. It is possible that both the intensity and coverage of future EMTEs could exceed the most severe EMTEs currently observed. Two new centers of EMTEs are projected to develop under 1.5°C warming, one in North China and the other in Southwest China. Under 2.0°C warming, a fourth EMTE center is projected to develop in Northwest China. Under 1.5 and 2.0°C warming, population exposure is projected to increase by23.2%–39.2% and 26.6%–48%, respectively. From a regional perspective, population exposure is expected to increase most rapidly in Southwest China. A greater proportion of the population in North, Northeast, and Northwest China will be exposed to EMTEs under 2.0°C warming. The results show that a warming world will lead to increases in the intensity, frequency, and coverage of EMTEs. Warming of 2.0°C will lead to both more severe EMTEs and the exposure of more people to EMTEs. | 5 | Construction and electrochemical mechanism investigation of hierarchical core-shell like composite as high performance anode for potassium ion batteries显示文摘Potassium-ion batteries(PIBs)are promising candidates for next-generation energy storage devices due to the earth abundance of potassium,low cost,and stable redox potentials.However,the lack of promising high-performance electrode materials for the intercalation/deintercalation of large potassium ions is a major challenge up to date.Herein,we report a novel uniform nickel selenide nanoparticles encapsulated in nitrogen-doped carbon(defined as“NiSe@NC”)as an anode for PIBs,which exhibits superior rate performance and cyclic stability.Benefiting from the unique hierarchical core-shell like nanostructure,the intrinsic properties of metal-selenium bonds,synergetic effect of different components,and a remarkable pseudocapacitance effect,the anode exhibits a very high reversible capacity of 438 mA·h·g^(-1)at 50 mA·g^(-1),an excellent rate capability,and remarkable cycling performance over 2,000 cycles.The electrochemical mechanism were investigated by the in-situ X-ray diffraction,ex-situ high-resolution transmission electron microscopy,selected area electron diffraction,and first principle calculations.In addition,NiSe@NC anode also shows high reversible capacity of 512 mA·h·g^(-1)at 100 mA·g^(-1)with 84%initial Coulombic efficiency,remarkable rate performance,and excellent cycling life for sodium ion batteries.We believe the proposed simple approach will pave a new way to synthesize suitable anode materials for secondary ion batteries. | Nadeem Hussain Suyuan Zeng Zhenyu Feng Yanjun Zhai Chunsheng Wang Mingwen Zhao Yitai Qian Liqiang Xu | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,10: | 1 |

| 8 | Petroleum coke derived porous carbon/NiCoP with efficient reviving catalytic and adsorptive activity as sulfur host for high performance lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Sulfur-host material with abundant pore structure and high catalysis plays an important role in development of high-energy-density lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries.Herein,we implanted NiCoP nanoparticles into the N,S co-doped porous carbon derived from petroleum coke(PCPC)to fabricate the sulfur-host of PCPC/NiCoP composites.The high specific surface area of PCPC provides abundant adsorption sites for capturing LiPSs and the NiCoP nanoparticles to improve the polarity and boost the LiPSs conversion kinetics of PCPC.The Li-S cells fabricated with PCPC/NiCoP as sulfur-host deliver high discharge capacity of 1,462.7 mAh·g^(-1)under the current density of 0.1 C and exhibit ultralong lifespan over 800 cycles under the current density of 1,2,and even 5 C.Additionally,the prepared composites cathodes deliver an outstanding discharge capacity of 932.5 and 826.4 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.5 and 1 C with a high sulfur loading of over 3.90 mg·cm^(-2),and remain stable about 60 cycles.Furthermore,the promoted adsorption-conversion process of polysulfides by introducing NiCoP nanoparticles into PCPC was investigated by experimental and theoretical calculation studies.This work offers a new light for tacking the obstacles of porous carbon-based sulfur-host and propelling the development of petroleum coke-based porous carbon for high performance Li-S batteries. | Bo Zhang Lu Wang Bin Wang Yanjun Zhai Shuyuan Zeng Meng Zhang Yitai Qian Liqiang Xu | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,5: | 1 |

| 10 | An Analysis of the Discontinuity in Chinese Radiosonde Temperature Data Using Satellite Observation as a Reference显示文摘Reconciling upper-air temperature trends derived from radiosonde and satellite observations is a necessary step to confidently determine the global warming rate. This study examines the raw and homogenized radiosonde observations over China and compares them with layer-mean atmospheric temperatures derived from satellite microwave observations for the lower-troposphere(TLT), mid-troposphere(TMT), upper-troposphere(TUT), and lower-stratosphere(TLS) by three research groups. Comparisons are for averages over China, excluding the Tibetan Plateau, and at individual stations where metadata contain information on radiosonde instrument changes. It is found that major differences between the satellite and radiosonde observations are related to artificial systematic changes. The radiosonde system updates in the early 2000 s over China caused significant discontinuities and led the radiosonde temperature trends to exhibit less warming in the middle and upper troposphere and more cooling in the lower stratosphere than satellite temperatures. Homogenized radiosonde data have been further adjusted by using the shift-point adjustment approaches to match with satellite products for China averages. The obtained trends during 1979–2015 from the re-adjusted radiosonde observation are respectively 0.203 ± 0.066, 0.128 ± 0.044, 0.034 ± 0.039, and –0.329 ± 0.135 K decade^(–1) for TLT, TMT, TUT, and TLS equivalents. Compared to satellite trends, the re-adjusted radiosonde trends are within 0.01 K decade^(–1) for TMT and TUT, 0.054 K decade^(–1) warmer for TLT, and 0.051 K decade^(–1) cooler for TLS. The results suggest that the use of satellite data as a reference is helpful in identifying and removing inhomogeneities of radiosonde temperatures over China and reconciling their trends to satellite microwave observations. | 14 | Monitoring of Avian Influenza Virus and Newcastle Disease Virus in Suichuan Region of Jiangxi Province显示文摘[Objective] The research aimed to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of Avian influenza virus( AIV) and Newcastle disease virus( NDV)of wild Ardeid birds in Suichuan region of Jiangxi Province. [Method] A total of 110 nasopharyngeal swabs and 110 cloacal swabs of Ardeid birds were collected from Suichuan region of Jiangxi Province in October of 2014. The swabs were conducted the virus isolation using SPF chicken embryos,suspected positive samples were screened by hemagglutination( HA) test and identified by Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction( RT-PCR). [Results] HA titre of all 110 test samples was 0 except four samples. Detection on AIV and NDV of the test samples by RT-PCR showed that all the samples were negative,which indicated that the infection risk of avian influenza( AI) and newcastle disease( ND) of Ardeid birds in Suichuan region in Jiangxi Province in the summer of 2014 was low. | 16 | Molecular studies of cellulose synthase supercomplex from cotton fiber reveal its unique biochemical properties显示文摘Cotton fiber is a highly elongated and thickened single cell that produces large quantities of cellulose,which is synthesized and assembled into cell wall microfibrils by the cellulose synthase complex(CSC).In this study,we report that in cotton(Gossypium hirsutum)fibers harvested during secondary cell wall(SCW)synthesis,GhCesA 4,7,and 8 assembled into heteromers in a previously uncharacterized 36-mer-like cellulose synthase supercomplex(CSS).This super CSC was observed in samples prepared using cotton fiber cells harvested during the SCW synthesis period but not from cotton stem tissue or any samples obtained from Arabidopsis.Knock-out of any of GhCesA 4,7,and 8 resulted in the disappearance of the CSS and the production of fiber cells with no SCW thickening.Cotton fiber CSS showed significantly higher enzyme activity than samples prepared from knock-out cotton lines.We found that the microfibrils from the SCW of wild-type cotton fibers may contain 72 glucan chains in a bundle,unlike other plant materials studied.GhCesA4,7,and 8 restored both the dwarf and reduced vascular bundle phenotypes of their orthologous Arabidopsis mutants,potentially by reforming the CSC hexamers.Genetic complementation was not observed when non-orthologous CesA genes were used,indicating that each of the three subunits is indispensable for CSC formation and for full cellulose synthase function.Characterization of cotton CSS will increase our understanding of the regulation of SCW biosynthesis. | Xingpeng Wen Yufeng Zhai Li Zhang Yanjun Chen Zhiyuan Zhu Gang Chen Kun Wang Yuxian Zhu | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,9: | 0 |
