Mechanical properties and flame retardancy of surface modified magnesium oxysulfate(5Mg(OH)_(2)·MgSO_(4)·3H_(2)O)whisker for polypropylene composites显示文摘Magnesium oxysulfate(MOS)whisker is considered as a promising inorganic material recently attracting a great attention for being used as a reinforcing filler for polymer composites due to high aspect ratio and extremely-low bulk density. In this study, the MOS was treated with 3-methacryloyloxypropyl-trimethoxy silane(MPS)via sol-gel condensation reactions, which successfully allowed melt mixing with polypropylene(PP)up to 30 wt%of MOS.The tensile strength at yield and modulus of the MOS/PP composites were substantially increased by 50.8%and 362%,respectively,when compared with the pristine PP.As a novel finding, the flame retardancy of MOS was proved by identifying water evolution at elevated temperatures giving out 9 wt%of water in 250-320℃and 14 wt%in 350-420℃in two steps. This work demonstrated that the MOS could be an excellent filler for PP not only increasing the mechanical properties in a great extent but also imposing flame retarding capability. | Eui-Su Kim Ye Chan Kim Jungwoo Park Youngjun Kim Sung-Hoon Kim Kwang Jin Kim Jonghwan Suhr Youngkwan Lee Seong Hoon Lee Dae-Sik Kim Soo-Hyun Kim Ju-Ho Yun In-Kyung Park Jae-Do Nam | 2018 | Journal of Materiomics2018,4,2: | 9

2D-3D registration for 3D analysis of lower limb alignment in a weight-bearing condition显示文摘X-ray imaging is the conventional method for diagnosing the orthopedic condition of a patient. Computerized Tomography(CT) scanning is another diagnostic method that provides patient's 3D anatomical information. However, both methods have limitations when diagnosing the whole leg; X-ray imaging does not provide 3D information, and normal CT scanning cannot be performed with a standing posture. Obtaining 3D data regarding the whole leg in a standing posture is clinically important because it enables 3D analysis in the weight bearing condition.Based on these clinical needs, a hardware-based bi-plane X-ray imaging system has been developed; it uses two orthogonal X-ray images. However, such methods have not been made available in general clinics because of the hight cost. Therefore, we proposed a widely adaptive method for 2 D X-ray image and 3D CT scan data. By this method, it is possible to threedimensionally analyze the whole leg in standing posture. The optimal position that generates the most similar image is the captured X-ray image. The algorithm verifies the similarity using the performance of the proposed method by simulation-based experiments. Then, we analyzed the internal-external rotation angle of the femur using real patient data. Approximately 10.55 degrees of internal rotations were found relative to the defined anterior-posterior direction. In this paper, we present a useful registration method using the conventional X-ray image and 3D CT scan data to analyze the whole leg in the weight-bearing condition. | SHIM Eungjune KIM Youngjun LEE Deukhee LEE Byung Hoon WOO Sungkyung LEE Kunwoo | 2018 | Applied Mathematics(A Journal of Chinese Universities)2018,33,1: | 1

Relationship between physicochemical characteristics of Korean wheat flour and quality attributes of steamed bread显示文摘The purpose of this study is to identify major factors affecting the manufacture and quality of steamed bread, consumed in Southeast Asia including China,Japan, and Korea.Hence, flours of 11 Korean wheat cultivars were used to evaluate quality attributes of two different styles of steamed bread,Korean style steamed bread(KSSB)and northern-style Chinese steamed bread(NSCSB).KSSB prepared more ingredients and higher optimum water absorption of dough than NSCSB because Korean consumers prefer white and glossy surface and soft crumb.KSSB showed lower height, larger diameter and volume of steamed bread, higher stress relaxation, and softer texture of crumb than NSCSB.The correlation between flour characteristics and quality of steamed bread was different in KSSB and NSCSB.About 90%of variability in the height and volume of KSSB could be predicted from protein content, mixing tolerance of Mixograph, average particle size of flour, final viscosity and solvent retention capacity.Protein content and quality parameters also could explain the variation of steamed bread height in NSCSB.Korean wheat carrying Glu-A3c allele produced higher volume of steamed bread(704.7 mL)than Glu-A3d allele(645.8 mL)in KSSB,although there was no significant difference in volume of NSCSB by glutenin compositions.Glu-D1d and Glu-A3c alleles had softer texture of crumb than Glu-D1f and Glu-A3d alleles in KSSB,Glu-B3i allele also showed lower hardness of crumb than their counterpart allele in NSCSB.Hard wheat showed higher height and volume of steamed bread, and lower stress relaxation and hardness of crumb than soft wheat in KSSB. | Ji-Eun Kim Byung-Kee Baik Chul Soo Park Jae-Han Son Chang-Hyun Choi Youngjun Mo Tae-Il Park Chon-Sik Kang Seong-Woo Cho | 2019 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019,18,11: | 1

Gallbladder Removal Simulation for Laparoscopic Surgery Training: A Hybrid Modeling Method显示文摘Laparoscopic surgery has many advantages, but it is difficult for a surgeon to achieve the necessary surgical skills. Recently, virtual training simulations have been gaining interest because they can provide a safe and efficient learning environment for medical students and novice surgeons. In this paper, we present a hybrid modeling method for simulating gallbladder removal that uses both the boundary element method (BEM) and the finite element method (FEM). Each modeling method is applied according to the deformable properties of human organs: BEM for the liver and FEM for the gallbladder. Connective tissues between the liver and the gallbladder are also included in the surgical simulation. Deformations in the liver and the gallbladder models are transferred via connective tissue springs using a mass-spring method. Special effects and techniques are developed to achieve realistic simulations, and the software is integrated into a custom-designed haptic interface device. Various computer graphical techniques are also applied in the virtual gallbladder removal laparoscopic surgery training. The detailed techniques and the results of the simulations are described in this paper. | Youngjun Kim Dongjune Chang Jungsik Kim Sehyung Park | 2013 | Journal of Computer Science & Technology2013,28,3: | 0

Reinforcement Learning-Based Handover Scheme with Neighbor Beacon Frame Transmission显示文摘Mobility support to change the connection from one access point(AP)to the next(i.e.,handover)becomes one of the important issues in IEEE 802.11 wireless local area networks(WLANs).During handover, the channel scanning procedure, which aims to collect neighbor AP(NAP)information on all available channels, accounts for most of the delay time.To reduce the channel scanning procedure,a neighbor beacon frame transmission scheme(N-BTS)was proposed for a seamless handover.N-BTS can provide a seamless handover by removing the channel scanning procedure.However,N-BTS always requires operating overhead even if there are few mobile stations(MSs)for the handover. Therefore, this paper proposes a reinforcement learning-based handover scheme with neighbor beacon frame transmission(MAN-BTS)to properly consider the use of N-BTS.The optimization equation is defined to maximize the expected reward tofind the optimal policy and is solved using Q-learning.Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the comparison schemes in terms of the expected reward. | Youngjun Kim Taekook Kim Hyungoo Choi Jinwoo Park Yeunwoong Kyung | 2023 | Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,,4: | 0
