Translator Stylistics:A Corpus Analysis of Two English Translations of Traditional Chinese Medicine Classic Da Sheng Bian显示文摘Da Sheng Bian,a significant work on obstetrics and gynecology that emerged in the early Qing Dynasty, was initially published as“A Treatise on Midwifery”in 1842 by William Lockhart,a British missionary to China. In 1894,John G.Kerr,an American missionary, translated the text as“The Tat Shang Pin”.This paper conducts a comparative study of the two English translations using a self-constructed English-Chinese parallel corpus of Da Sheng Bian. The study explores the translation styles of the two translators by examining the token-types ratio and frequency at the lexical level, mean sentence length at the syntactic level, and the use of conjunctions at the discourse level. The observed differences in translation styles between the two translations are analyzed in relation to the translators’backgrounds and translation strategies. | Yang Zhang Yue’e Zhu | 2023 | Journal of Contemporary Educational Research2023,7,12: | 0

Melatonin promotes ripening of grape berry via increasing the levels of ABA, H2O2, and particularly ethylene显示文摘The role of melatonin in the regulation of fruit ripening and the mechanism involved remain largely unknown. In“Moldova”grape berries, melatonin accumulated rapidly from onset of veraison, reached the maximum at 94 days after bloom(DAB)and then exhibited low levels at late stages of berry ripening.By contrast, abscisic acid(ABA)and hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)exhibited different accumulation patterns, and ethylene was primarily produced immediately before veraison.Further experiments demonstrated that 10 and particularly 100µM melatonin treatments increased the levels of ABA,H2O2,and ethylene production and promoted berry ripening compared with the control treatment, whereas 0.1 and 1.0µM melatonin did not lead to clear effects.Additionally, the application of inhibitors indicated that ABA,H2O2,and ethylene participated in the regulation of berry ripening induced by melatonin, and the suppression of ethylene biosynthesis produced the greatest inhibitory effects on melatonin-induced berry ripening compared with those of ABA and H2O2.Melatonin also promoted ethylene production via ABA.In summary,10 and particularly 100µM melatonin treatments promoted berry ripening, which was accomplished,at least partially, via the other signaling molecules of ABA,H2O2,and particularly ethylene. This research provides insight into melatonin signaling during berry ripening and may advance the application of melatonin to accelerate berry ripening. | Lili Xu Qianyu Yue Guangqing Xiang Feng’e Bian Yuxin Yao | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 7
Estimation of the minimum effective dose of tramadol for postoperative analgesia in infants using the continual reassessment method显示文摘Tramadol is a potent analgesic. However, the analgesia efficacy of tramadol, particularly its minimum effective dose(MED),is not clear. The aim of this study is to find MED of tramadol for postoperative analgesia in infants. The continual reassessment method(CRM)was performed to find MED.Infants undergoing surgeries were included in the 3 phases of this series. In each phase,24 participants were allocated a different tramadol dose.Pain intensity was measured by face, legs, activity, cry, consolability(FLACC)measurement at 3-hour intervals.Tramadol was considered ineffective if the FLACC score was higher than 4 in 10 at anytime. In phase 1,seven dose levels were used within the range 0.1-0.4 mg·kg^(-1)·h^(-1).Phase 1 was insufficient to identify the MED,and we increased the dose to 0.4-0.8 mg·kg^(-1)·h^(-1) in phase 2.Phase 2 was insufficient to identify the MED.In phase 3,local anesthetic wound infiltration was introduced, and the tramadol dose levels tested were the same as in phase 1.The successful analgesia probability of tramadol 0.4 mg·kg^(-1)·h^(-1) was 82.1%(95%CI,0.742-0.925)in phase 1.In phase 2,it was 84.7%(95%CI,0.789-0.991)with the dose 0.8 mg·kg^(-1)·h^(-1).Phase 1 and phase 2 were insufficient to identify the MED.In phase 3,the successful analgesia probability for dose 0.35 mg·kg^(-1)·h^(-1) was 96.7%(95%CI,0.853-0.997).We have demonstrated that tramadol provides insufficient analgesia for surgeries considered to cause moderate-to-severe postoperative pain in infants if used as the sole analgesic, and that local anesthetic wound infiltration enhances the efficacy of tramadol. | Yue’e Dai Dongxu Lei Zhenghua Huang Yan Yin GAllen Finley Yunxia Zuo | 2012 | Frontiers of Medicine2012,6,3: | 1
Isolation and identifi cation of antimicrobial metabolites from sea anemone-derived fungus Emericella sp.SMA01显示文摘Marine symbiotic fungi represent an intriguing source of discovery of novel secondary metabolites with various biological activities.Sea anemones are benthic marine invertebrates, however, the cultivable symbiotic fungi residing in the sea anemones are paid few attentions compared to those derived from their cnidarian counterparts. Here we show the identification of antimicrobial secondary metabolites from the sea anemone-derived symbiotic fungi.Out offive isolated fungal strains, only the strain SMA01 showed strong antimicrobial activities, which was assigned into the genus Emericella based on the morphological characteristics and the ITS sequencing.Media swift from liquid fermentation to solid rice medium presented little influence on its antibacterial activity.A chemical investigation of the ethyl acetate extract of the Emericella sp.SMA01 led to discovery of the primary antibiotic metabolite phenazine-1-carboxylic acid. The IC_(50) values of the phenazine-1-carboxylic acid against Phytophthora capsici,Gibberella zeae, and Verticillium dahliae were determined to be 23.26-53.89μg/mL.To the best of our knowledge, this was the first report of Emericella sp.in sea anemones. The current study may benefit understanding of the defensive chemical interactions between the symbiotic fungi and their host sea anemones. | Yang YUE Huahua YU Rongfeng LI Linfeng HU Song LIU Rong’e XING Pengcheng LI | 2021 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,3: | 2
PI3K/Akt pathway is involved in the activation of RAW 264.7 cells induced by hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride chitosan显示文摘We previously demonstrated that 2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride chitosan(HACC)promoted the production of nitric oxide(NO)and proinflammatory cytokines by activating the mitogen-activated protein kinases(MAPK)and Janus kinase(JAK)/STAT pathways in RAW 264.7 cells, indicating good immunomodulatory activity of HACC.In this study,to further investigate the immunomodulatory mechanisms of HACC,we determined the roles of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/Akt,activating protein(AP-1)and nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB)in HACC-induced activation of RAW 264.7 cells by the western blotting. The results suggest that HACC promoted the phosphorylation of p85 and Akt.Furthermore,c-Jun and p65 were also increased after the treatment of RAW 264.7 cells with HACC,indicating the translocation of NF-κB and AP-1 from cytoplasm to nucleus. In addition,as scanning electron microscopy(SEM)analysis shows, the cell morphology changed after HACC treatment. These findings indicate that HACC activated MAPK,JAK/STAT,and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways dependent on AP-1 and NF-κB activation in RAW 264.7 cells, ultimately leading to the increase of NO and cytokines. | YANG Yue XING Rong’e LIU Song QIN Yukun LI Kecheng YU Huahua LI Pengcheng | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,3: | 0
