Slope Seismic Response Monitoring on the Aftershocks of the Wenchuan Earthquake in the Mianzhu Section显示文摘Previous investigations have shown that the seismic response of slopes during the Wenchuan earthquake was highly variable. The present study tries to give an answer to the question:Which are the main factors affecting the seismic response degree of slopes? With the support of the China Geological Survey Bureau,we set 3 monitoring sections in Jiulong slope,Mianzhu city,China with the aim to record the site response of the slope during the aftershocks of the Wenchuan earthquake. After the Wenchuan earthquake, which happened on 12 May 2008,30 aftershocks have been recorded in these monitoring points. We analyzed 11 records, with magnitudes ranging from ML = 4.6 to ML = 3.1.The amplification factors of the horizontal compound PGA and 3D compound PGA have been determined for the 3 points at different elevations on the slope. Results showed that the dynamic response of the slope on the earthquake was controlled by factors such as topography and the thickness of the Quaternary overburden. | WANG Yunsheng LUO Yonghong WANG Fuhai WANG Dong MA Xiao LI Shun DENG Xi | 2012 | Journal of Mountain Science2012,9,4: | 6
Vertical Distribution Characteristics of PM2.5 Observed by a Mobile Vehicle Lidar in Tianjin, China in 2016显示文摘We present mobile vehicle lidar observations in Tianjin, China during the spring, summer, and winter of 2016. Mobile observations were carried out along the city border road of Tianjin to obtain the vertical distribution characteristics of PM_(2.5). Hygroscopic growth was not considered since relative humidity was less than 60% during the observation experiments. PM_(2.5) profile was obtained with the linear regression equation between the particle extinction coefficient and PM_(2.5) mass concentration. In spring, the vertical distribution of PM_(2.5) exhibited a hierarchical structure. In addition to a layer of particles that gathered near the ground, a portion of particles floated at 0.6–2.5-km height. In summer and winter, the fine particles basically gathered below 1 km near the ground. In spring and summer, the concentration of fine particles in the south was higher than that in the north because of the influence of south wind. In winter, the distribution of fine particles was opposite to that measured during spring and summer. High concentrations of PM_(2.5) were observed in the rural areas of North Tianjin with a maximum of 350 μg m–3 on 13 December2016. It is shown that industrial and ship emissions in spring and summer and coal combustion in winter were the major sources of fine particles that polluted Tianjin. The results provide insights into the mechanisms of haze formation and the effects of meteorological conditions during haze–fog pollution episodes in the Tianjin area. | Lihui LYU Yunsheng DONG Tianshu ZHANG Cheng LIU Wenqing LIU Zhouqing XIE Yan XIANG Yi ZHANG Zhenyi CHEN Guangqiang FAN Leibo ZHANG Yang LIU Yuchen SHI Xiaowen SHU | 2018 | Journal of Meteorological Research2018,32,1: | 5
Comparison of Two Air Pollution Episodes over Northeast China in Winter 2016/17 Using Ground-Based Lidar显示文摘This study analyzes and compares aerosol properties and meteorological conditions during two air pollution episodes in 19–22(E1) and 25–26(E2) December 2016 in Northeast China. The visibility, particulate matter(PM) mass concentration, and surface meteorological observations were examined, together with the planetary boundary layer(PBL) properties and vertical profiles of aerosol extinction coefficient and volume depolarization ratio that were measured by a ground-based lidar in Shenyang of Liaoning Province, China during December 2016–January 2017.Results suggest that the low PBL height led to poor pollution dilution in E1, while the high PBL accompanied by low visibility in E2 might have been due to cross-regional and vertical air transmission. The PM mass concentration decreased as the PBL height increased in E1 while these two variables were positively correlated in E2. The enhanced winds in E2 diffused the pollutants and contributed largely to the aerosol transport. Strong temperature inversion in E1 resulted in increased PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations, and the winds in E2 favoured the southwesterly transport of aerosols from the North China Plain into the region surrounding Shenyang. The large extinction coefficient was partially attributed to the local pollution under the low PBL with high ground-surface PM mass concentrations in E1,whereas the cross-regional transport of aerosols within a high PBL and the low PM mass concentration near the ground in E2 were associated with severe aerosol extinction at high altitudes. These results may facilitate better understanding of the vertical distribution of aerosol properties during winter pollution events in Northeast China. | Yanjun MA Hujia ZHAO Yunsheng DONG Huizheng CHE Xiaoxiao LI Ye HONG Xiaolan LI Hongbin YANG Yuche LIU Yangfeng WANG Ningwei LIU Cuiyan SUN | 2018 | Journal of Meteorological Research2018,32,2: | 5
Comparison of mixing layer height inversion algorithms using lidar and a pollution case study in Baoding, China显示文摘Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei area is suffering from atmospheric pollution from a long time. The understanding of the air pollution mechanism is of great importance for officials to design strategies for the environmental governance. Mixing layer height(MLH) is a key factor influencing the diffusion of air pollutants. It plays an important role on the evolution of heavy pollution events. Light detection and ranging(lidar), is an effective remote-sensing tool, which can retrieve high spatial and temporal evolution process within mixing layer(ML), especially the variation of MLH. There are many methods to retrieve MLH, but each method has its own applicable limitations. The Mie-lidar data in Beijing was firstly used to compare three different algorithms which are widely used under different pollution levels. We find that the multi-layer structure near surface may cause errors in the detection of mixing layer. The MLH retrieved based on image edge detection was better than another two methods especially under heavy polluted episode. Then we applied this method to investigate the evolution of the mixing layer height during a pollution episode in December2016. MLH at Gucheng county showed the positive correlation with the concentration of particulate matters during the start of this pollution episode. The elevated pollution level in Gucheng was not associated with MLH's decrease, and the significantly increased particulate matters raised the boundary layer, which trapped the pollutants near the surface. | Xiangguang Ji Cheng Liu Zhouqing Xie Qihou Hu Yunsheng Dong Guangqiang Fan Tianshu Zhang Chengzhi Xing Zhuang Wang Zeeshan Javed Jianguo Liu | 2019 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,5: | 5

Fast registration of forest terrestrial laser scans using key points detected from crowns and stems显示文摘Registration of TLS data is an important prerequisite to overcome the limitations of occlusion. Most existing registration methods rely on stems to determine the transformation parameters. However, the complexity of the registration problem increases dramatically as the number of stems grows. It is tricky to reduce the stems and determine the valid ones that can provide reliable registration transformation without a knowledge of the two scans. This paper presents an automatic and fast registration of TLS point clouds in forest areas. It reduces stems by selecting from the overlap areas, which are recovered from the mode-based key points that are detected from crowns. The proposed method was tested in a managed forest in Finland, and was compared with the stem-based registration method without reducing stems. The experiments demonstrated that the mean rotation error was 2.09′,and the mean errors in horizontal and vertical translation were 1.13 and 7.21 cm,respectively.Compared with the stem-based method, the proposed method improves the registration efficiency significantly(818 s vs 96 s)and achieves similar results in terms of the mean registration errors(1.94′for rotation error,0.83 and 7.38 cm for horizontal and vertical translation error, respectively). | Wenxia Dai Bisheng Yang Xinlian Liang Zhen Dong Ronggang Huang Yunsheng Wang Jiri Pyörälä Antero Kukko | 2020 | International Journal of Digital Earth2020,13,12: | 1
Single-element amorphous palladium nanoparticles formed via phase separation显示文摘Physically vitrifying amorphous single-element metal requires ultrahigh cooling rates, which are still unachievable for most of the closest-packed metals. Here,we report a facile chemical synthetic strategy for single-element amorphous palladium nanoparticles with a purity of 99.35 at.%±0.23 at.%from palladium–silicon liquid droplets.In-situ transmission electron microscopy directly detected the solidification of palladium and the separation of silicon.Further hydrogen absorption experiment showed that the amorphous palladium expanded little upon hydrogen uptake, exhibiting a great potential application for hydrogen separation. Our results provide insight into the formation of amorphous metal at nanoscale. | Dong Sheng He Yi Huang Benjamin D.Myers Dieter Isheim Xinyu Fan Guang-Jie Xia Yunsheng Deng Lin Xie Shaobo Han Yang Qiu Yang-Gang Wang Junhua Luan Zengbao Jiao Li Huang Vinayak P.Dravid Jiaqing He | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,6: | 0
