| 1 | Micromorphology of landslide soil Case study on the Jibazi landslide in Yunyang in the Three Gorges Region, China显示文摘Landslide is one of natural catastrophes affecting national economy and people’s livelihood There are many reports on the forming mechanism and control of landslide, but the studies on micromorphology of landslide soil are few. There are many potential landslides in the Three Gorges Region in China. In this paper, the micromorphologic features of the Jibazi landslide soil in Yunyang in the Three Gorges Region of the Yangtze River were studied using routine methods, that is, soil micro- morphology, X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscope. The main conclusions are as follow: (1) The basic micromorphologic characteristics of the landslide soil are that the fine soil particles are commonly cohesive matrix, finer and lower content o skeleton grains, the microstructures are mainly types of phenocrystal gelatinization, densely chap and fissure structure. As a result, these micromorphologic features affect the discharging of soil water, favor the movement of landslide body and provide an interna basis of materials for the formation of landslide. (2) The concept on the forming material of landslide was proposed, and types of optical beamed clay aggregates Fe-Mn isolates and glassy material were found in landslide-belt soil, which were remarkably differen from the natural soil formation, and had some scientific significance in analyzing the formingmechanism of landslide and distinguishing the landslide-belt soil. (3) Some special micromor- phologic and sub-micromorphologic characteristics, such as fingerprint microstructure, clay beamed bedding microstructure, oppressive microstructure, moulage microstructure and extending hole microstructure, could bring useful micromorphologic evidences for the observation and forecasting of landslide. | 2 | Fractal Characteristic of Soil in Typical Debris Flow-Triggering Region:A Case Study in Jiangjia Ravine of Dongchuan, Yunnan显示文摘The structural features of soil in debris flow-triggering region play an important role in the formation and evolution of debris flow. In this paper, a case study on the fractal of soil particle-size distribution (PSDFs) and pore-solid (PSFs) in Jiangjia Ravine was conducted. The results revealed that the soil in Jiangjia Ravine had significant fractal features and its PSDF and PSF had the same variation trend despite different type of soils in debris flow-triggering region: residual soil (RS)>debris flow deposit (DFD)>clinosol (CL), their fractal dimension of PSDFs are respectively between 2.62 and 2.96, 2.52 and 2.68, 2.37 and 2.52; and the fractal dimension of PSFs are respectively between 2.75 and 2.95 , 2.57 and 2.72, 2.59 and 2.64. | 5 | SRS-Net: Training object detectors from scratch for remote sensing images without pretraining显示文摘Most of the current object detection algorithms use pretrained models that are trained on ImageNet and then fine-tuned in the network,which can achieve good performance in terms of general object detectors.However,in the field of remote sensing image object detection,as pretrained models are significantly different from remote sensing data,it is meaningful to explore a train-fromscratch technique for remote sensing images.This paper proposes an object detection framework trained from scratch,SRS-Net,and describes the design of a densely connected backbone network to provide integrated hidden layer supervision for the convolution module.Then,two necessary improvement principles are proposed:studying the role of normalization in the network structure,and improving data augmentation methods for remote sensing images.To evaluate the proposed framework,we performed many ablation experiments on the DIOR,DOTA,and AS datasets.The results show that whether using the improved backbone network,the normalization method or training data enhancement strategy,the performance of the object detection network trained from scratch increased.These principles compensate for the lack of pretrained models.Furthermore,we found that SRS-Net could achieve similar to or slightly better performance than baseline methods,and surpassed most advanced general detectors. | Haining WANG Yang LI Yuqiang FANG Yurong LIAO Bitao JIANG Xitao ZHANG Shuyan NI | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,8: | 0 |
| 6 | The role of aromatic residues in controlling the supramolecular chirality of short amphiphilic peptides显示文摘Although the relationship between molecular and supramolecular chirality remains elusive,the existing results have demonstrated the vital role of hydrophilic motifs in controlling the supramolecular handedness of peptide nanofibrils compared with hydrophobic ones.However,unlike conventional hydrophobic residues,we speculate that aromatic hydrophobic residues are mostly likely to play a unique role in regulating the supramolecular handedness because theπ–πstacking interactions of their side chains are directional like hydrogen bonding and can direct high levels of self-assembly due to the geometric confining of aromatic rings.To confirm this hypothesis,we here design a series of amphiphilic short peptides,with their hydrophobic motifs being composed of aromatic residues.Their short lengths not only favor their structural stability,synthesis,and sequence variation but also enable us to readily link their molecular and supramolecular structures.Through the combination of experiments and theoretical simulations,we demonstrate that the peptides containing L-form aromatic residues form left-handed nanofibrils while those containing D-form aromatic residues assemble into right-handed ones,irrespective of the chirality of their C-terminal hydrophilic residue.Theoretical calculations revealed that the stacking of aromatic side chains betweenβ-strands directed the twisting direction of theβ-sheets formed,with L-and D-form phenylalanine side chains stacking in a clockwise and anti-clockwise way,and more ordered and stronger aromatic stacking for homochiral peptides facilitated the formation of nanofibrils with a marked tubular feature.This study has bridged the knowledge gap in our understanding of how aromatic residues affect the supramolecular chirality of short peptides. | Hao Qi Kai Qi Jie Li Chunyong He Mingrui Liao Xuzhi Hu Yurong Zhao Yubin Ke Chunqiu Zhang Jun Zhang Jiqian Wang Jian R.Lu Hai Xu | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,10: | 0 |
